Paez DFA'd, Sims called up

fucking ridiculous imo

Not surprising. He was not ready for a team that needs arms badly.

This makes the Peyton Pallette decision all the more perplexing.

Not that that I really care, but definitely weird to make the decision to keep him and then immediately bail a week into the season. Did they really expect Paez to succeed right away?

Conspiracy theory - White Sox knew Paez wasn't ready, exposed him to big league hitters to broadcast that. He'll slip through waivers, then be a PTBNL in the Hicks deal.

The Sox didn't like him. For whatever reason it was, they had the opportunity to test drive him last year, and refused to call him up, despite all of the roster churn.

Yeah that one always didn't make sense. He looked pretty good once he went to the pen. They needed help and never tried him.

Sorry to be outta the loop....but who the hell is Sims??

Getz’s Rule 5 magic is officially gone.

Weird move on both fronts.

Hey he was a 1st round draft pick in 2012.

Failed starter the Braves drafted. Now a bad reliever that can’t throw strikes.

wheels on the bus go round and round, round and round.

He should fit right in

The quintessential Getz/Sox "hamster wheel" move of all time,

Honestly, what did you see a week ago, that you do not see now when we had the other roster options?

How can we not have developed ONE #13 reliever on the big league roster under Getz?

Same goes with the outfield....

Last year it worked out, but counting on Rule 5 guys to build a winner usually doesn't work.

He hasn’t looked good in spring or the regular season, but I think he’ll be good in a couple years. I’m not convinced we’re actually challenging for a playoff spot, so any influx of future talent is helpful. He’s likely at least 2 years away from contributing in MLB, so I don’t know why they would’ve picked him to begin with thinking anything else.

Which is why it’d be nice if he could come back as the PTBNL and start off at A+ or AA.

Remember there’s still the PTBNL from the trade with Boston, so maybe they work something out. I doubt he gets claimed.

Exactly. Picking a guy with his pedigree, you HAVE to know you are not picking him for 2026, and that you were going to have to pick your places to hide him and deploy him. If you didn't you picked the wrong guy.

All true, but I still struggle to understand why you take two Rule 5 guys who have zero roster flexibility and don’t at least hold onto the guy with options who can be sent up & down. Still could have taken a shot on Paez all while holding onto Pallette until someone better required his 40 man spot.

so wasn't this guy out of option?

they seem to get too many of those
