  1. Agreed. I’d think Gio would command slightly more, but I can’t see the Sox going so long term for a pitcher contract.
  2. I'd almost prefer the Sox play it 'cheap' right now with 2B. I think RF is the more important glaring hole that needs to be addressed at this moment. Then focus on the bullpen and rotation depth. I feel like it will be much easier to add a 2B or MI that can play 2B via trade during the 2022 season. Go after guys like Kemp, Galvis, etc. for now.
  3. Then throw in the Sox potentially losing a pick if they do in fact sign a QO guy such as Conforto. A bad farm with one less pick seems like recipe for drying up the length of the competitive window.
  4. Yes, Cabrera was overpaid after being busted for PED use that clearly affected his baseball abilities. If you want to live and die off bWAR that’s your prerogative, but they aren’t the same players. There are plenty of different metrics that show how much better of a player Conforto is when compared to Cabrera.
  5. What’s your answer for RF then? Because this team’s idea of shorter deals involve the Adam Eatons of the world and don’t tend to pan out. Conforto has a career wRC+ of 124. That’s a very good player, especially for a guy you’ll be asking to hit in the bottom third of the order. The comparisons to Melky are ridiculous. Melky had 2 good years of above average production using that metric. Cabrera barely finished above average for his career at 101. Conforto has been a much better player in those regards. Given the options out there, he fits with this team and makes a ton of sense.
  6. Power, OBP, lefty, plays right. I'm totally on board with Conforto.
  7. That might be different considering it’s the playoffs. Would you want to take the risk of causing a breakthrough outbreak?
  8. I would love if Rodon somehow found that heater again ?
  9. I believe the Sox must make a decision regarding Lamb by today. He's been in Charlotte for 20 days by my count.I believe the Sox must make a decision regarding Lamb by today.
  10. Isn’t the option a vesting one based on games finished?
  11. He won’t. I can’t imagine any player (especially someone of his caliber) wanting to actively be in that organization. They are as dysfunctional as they come.
  12. No one beats the Dodgers on paper. The nice thing is that right now the Dodgers have a good chance to be in a 1 game playoff. They could get beat and not even be a factor in the playoffs. The best team on paper doesn’t always win the whole thing, let alone repeat.
  13. I think they will add another reliever. Tepera replaces one of Burr, Lopez, or Ruiz. That's still 1 too many to be on a playoff team.
  14. Because that means that he's going to the Giants.
  15. That's ridiculous. You cannot tell me TLR is happy with Garcia and Mendick at 2B...
  16. A's are a bottom tier farm system though. I'm not too concerned with what FG has them ranked for FG. Deichmann is no sure thing, and Palencia isn't even ranked by MLB or BA.
  17. Cubs are getting back Greg Deichmann + another player. Deichmann is the #9 prospect for the A's per Pipeline and BA. Should give everyone a decent idea for what an impact reliever is going to cost (although, Chafin does have an option at the end of the year).
  18. I'd be more inclined to think the Sox are looking at Graveman.
  19. I feel like this has a great chance to happen.
  20. He’s been terrible in Charlotte too. For being a hitters dream, that field has done nothing for him.
  21. I know, still doesn't mean I have to like it.
  22. This sucks. Sox will ultimately need to face him the the playoffs. Would have rather seen him stay on the damn Twins for the rest of the year.
  23. That’s a slightly different situation there. The KBO and NPB don’t compete against you. And most guys that go overseas don’t tend to come back. Guys like Thames are anomalies.
  24. What a wild turn of events. Hope he’s ok. This seems so incredibly weird to just walk away like that.
