  1. Little bit of a different tune tonight. Wanting someone to play for a team is a bit different than telling the fanbase to be on the lookout.
  2. Dude, look at his monthly stats. Dye plummeted. His amazing 1st half saved his 2009 stat line. I’m not saying it’s a reason to choose to not sign Cruz, but it totally is not out of the realm of possibility. Adding him totally makes the team better on paper.
  3. While this is true, I can’t help but recall Jermaine Dye and how his final year ended. He completely fell off a cliff in the second half. There’s no way to know for sure, but it can happen to anyone. Same goes for Cruz.
  4. Chances are you’ve already rooted for a PED user and have no idea. It’s more widespread than anyone cares to realize. For example, do you like Pablo Ozuna? Should the 2005 season be disregarded?
  5. His dog is named Josie, not his daughter, hahahah
  6. Just seems odd to take your biggest need and give it the smallest budget, hahaha. I don't necessarily think he's helping Cruz out. Nobody else has mentioned his tweets or connected the Sox to Cruz like he has. IDK, I guess we'll see what ends up happening.
  7. He obviously has some connections, but it just feels like he's jumping the gun. I don't understand how they have no money for a SP, but they do for a DH?
  8. Given Walker's age and past pedigree, it doesn't surprise me at all he had a good year. Unfortunately, the lowest tier available blows. I'd just assume to attempt to trade at this point. Over Wainwright, I guess if I had to pick, I'd rather go with any one (or two) of these guys: Trevor Cahill (worked with Katz), Julio Teheran, Matt Shoemaker, Mike Leake, Trevor Williams, or Mike Foltynewicz (if healthy). The situation sucks, thanks to JR's cheap ass.
  9. So then get a guy that might actually be able to get through the season. Wainwright is going to be 39 and his advanced metrics are incredibly mediocre. In 2020, his K/9 dropped, his HR/9 increased, his GB% was the lowest of his career, and his xFIP continues to hover over 4.0 (below average). I'd argue the only reason he has a deceptively low ERA is because he faced such crap offenses. Plus, we're talking about him moving from Busch to GRF. Go to Fangraphs and look at any of the projections on his page - they all show pretty significant regression. I'd just stay away. If they are going to go bargain bin shopping, then I'd prefer that they go out and get someone that isn't going to retire in 2022 and has potential to catch lightning in a bottle.
  10. He also could very well be DFA'd by June and the Sox will have to scramble to find a 4th starter. I'd look closer to his 2016-2019 full season stats than a shortened 2020.
  11. Please no to this idea. Can this team ever resist the temptation from signing the dinosaurs of the league?
  12. That’s my point, why repeat something if Cruz is Sox bound? Clearly he doesn’t know as much as he’s led on.
  13. If you want to throw more onto this, pretty sure international travel now requires a negative covid test and a 7 day quarantine. For fun, say he agreed in principle on Monday, I'm uncertain on how things are there, but it might legitimate take a while for him to travel here (assuming he has to do the physical here and they can't make an exception).
  14. Yes, and it seems like most people are leaning towards him going back to Japan.
  15. I doubt it's that high. He made $14.5M in 2019, and was supposed to make $12M last season. I don't think we see a raise. Hopefully it would be closer to $10M, or I have no idea how they are going to fill out the rest of the roster barring a trade of some sort.
  16. Wow. I mean, he's not exactly backing down there, hahaha. Sox actually signing Cruz seems like a massive shift from what we've heard over the past month.
