A's are a bottom tier farm system though. I'm not too concerned with what FG has them ranked for FG. Deichmann is no sure thing, and Palencia isn't even ranked by MLB or BA.
Cubs are getting back Greg Deichmann + another player. Deichmann is the #9 prospect for the A's per Pipeline and BA. Should give everyone a decent idea for what an impact reliever is going to cost (although, Chafin does have an option at the end of the year).
That’s a slightly different situation there. The KBO and NPB don’t compete against you. And most guys that go overseas don’t tend to come back. Guys like Thames are anomalies.
You can't. It would be such a black hole, and will really become apparent once Eloy and Robert return. I have faith they are going to add a 2B option. Bullpen depth is a MUST as well.
Burger has always been aggressive, even before his injury in the minors. He posted a 6.45 BB% in 2017 before getting hurt, and was at 6.40 BB% in Charlotte. That's pretty consistent considering the long layoff in-between.
Grullon is ok, but was always known for his raw power more than anything else. He has a strong arm, but is fringe/average defensively. More likely a backup than anything else at the major league level.
Considering Bryce Ball just got Pederson, Adolfo should definitely be enough to get Escobar. Although being out of options might be a tough sell to a team considering he's still only in AA.
I believe the Sox have a rule in place for pitchers that if they exceed a certain number of pitches in 1 inning they are removed. Lambert had 39 yesterday.
Totally wondering the same thing. He easily could play tonight and make a start Monday. I’d be pretty shocked if he was involved in a deal, I can’t imagine he has much of any trade value right now.
Agreed. I respect Longenhagen‘s analysis on a lot of things, but he always come across as more bullish and opinionated that most. I’m not arguing the Sox have a bottom tier system right now, but to think it’s the worst and put Burdi #2 seems wrong.
Thats true, I just have a hard time believing the Sox will suddenly turn to that strategy when historically they haven’t used it as a way to acquire players.
