Agreed, and he was also more than willing to trade away prospects that didn’t have big time profiles. It’s kind of funny in the pre rebuild years when our farm system was a laughingstock we had guys like Frankie Montas, Semien, bassit, tatis jr, etc. that have gone on to have better careers for other teams than our big time blue chippers when we were a top system.

I only like them if they’re ranked on an internet top 100 list.

It still happened when it was against the rules as a ptbnl. The most notable recent example I can think of (trea turner) was during that time. But it couldn’t become official until a calendar year I believe, if that’s what you meant.

I hate the lack of process that resulted in Getz, but I‘m not putting this on him. This is Renisdorf. He’s a poison to and on the city of Chicago. he’s had multiple opportunities to take this franchise to the next level, and EVERY SINGLE TIME he pulls them down. I’m throwing a goddamn party when that piece of s%*# dies.

Katz has taken a lot of flak, but he helped change the shape of Cease’s fastball, which saved his career. His pre-2021 can be essentially dismissed performance wise, but it helped keep his arb earnings down. I actually think 2021 is a reasonable expectation going forward for Cease.

Good thing Jerry is pulling out all the stops to right the ship.
