I don’t think there’s much debate baseball is less popular now than it was in 1973, but I don’t know how much weight these stats carry. Cable television was the only way to watch, and it had what? Ten channels?

You would think down by 13 they could indulge the Lambert family and have Jimmy pitch, but that would require some modicum of awareness and class that Pedro does not possess. He’s such a bad manager, man. Just atrocious.

It’s fine to have guys that aren’t leaders, so long as they aren’t expected to be.

Montoyo was fired from the Jays for similar reasons…the players did whatever they wanted. in addition to firing him, they made a conscious effort to trade players they identified as problematic to the lack of professionalism in the clubhouse, namely Teoscar and Gurriel. That’s not speculation on my behalf. Montoyo is fine with an authoritarian voice to accompany him. Nobody respects Grifol.

He wasn’t “the guy” though. He overlooked specific players at any given time, but in a coaching/mentor role. He wasn’t in a disciplinarian or leadership role, from my understanding.

The saddest part about all of this is the fans of this team are probably more embarrassed by this stuff than the people in charge.

I’m going to guess we see redundant vets let go and some young guys come up.

Colson looks good, but I always prefer to temper expectations for these young guys. Not out of doubt, but respect for them. I hate when impossible expectations get placed on these young men. Colson has a shot to be a solid regular. Maybe more.

Madrigal blows, and they sold high. That was a gamble that didn’t pay off. I’m fine with it. Eloy has to go. I like him. Seems like a cool guy to hang out with. But you’re being paid millions of dollars to play a game. You can go to work with a sore heel. This isn’t the guy I want our next wave looking up to.

Nice move. Credit where it’s due; Hahn is pretty good at kickstarting a rebuild. I just hope they bring in someone else to finish the job this time, because he has no idea how to build a winning team.

Yeah, I think the video was just titled wrong. This is probably nothing, thankfully. The Honeywell addition is potentially interesting, but that’s another thread.
