Funny enough the DeLoach guy they just traded for made me think of LaRoche.

I wonder if Epstein being back with the Red Sox might spike their Cease interest. He’s never been afraid to make a deal (including Cease once already), and he’s familiar with Cease from his time with the Cubs.

They aren’t signing him for what he does on the field at this point. Im fine with it, they need guys who aren’t afraid to call guys out.

Madrigal’s last meaningful minor league time came in 2019 as a 22 year old, and he performed the same or better than Ortiz at the same stage of his career, slashing .341/.400/.451 in AA and .331/.398/.424 in AAA. But at the same time, who gives a s%*#.

There’s added pressure to Getz here, being the new guy amongst GM’s. If he relents and accepts less than what he made clear he would be willing to accept, it sets a precedent/reputation - fair or not - that he can be waited out in negotiations.

Premium positions are C, SS, CF. middle of the spectrum are 2B, 3B, RF. you hide guys at 1B and LF. A good defensive 3B or 2B is obviously nice to have, but it’s not a premium position. Jake Burger is able to fake it at both, for gods sake. You’re not gonna see him faking it in that top tier, just as an example. Most guys playing 2B or 3B are only there bc they couldn’t cut it in the top tier and had to move down the spectrum.

I think you misread. he’s saying it’s more likely cease sticks around and starts the season with the team than it is he takes a light return.

What Harold said makes sense. Wong can assist with administrative duties, while Barfield assists in baseball ops. If this is how they’re dividing the “Assistant GM” title, I’m fine with it. Haber being gone is tremendous.
