  1. I would have really loved to see Choo on the Sox, but not at that price.

    Alright begin

I am now at the third of five family Christmases. Any alcohol recommendations?
  3. There is zero chance the Packers beat the Bears without Rodgers.* *Unless the Bears already have the division locked up.

    Alright begin

Driving 10 hours round trip in the next 48 hours to celebrate Christmas.
  5. I don't think this team was contending in 2014 without Santiago. I'm not saying that trading him wasn't the right move, but that pretty much sealed the reality that this is a rebuild. I don't think that Johnson, Rienzo, or whoever gets Santiago's spot in the rotation is going to match his performance in 2014.
  6. Did you not watch any games pitched by Gavin Floyd or John Danks in the last 7 years?
  7. Because it would be mean to outright someone off the 40 right before Christmas?
  8. 9. My step-sister and her husband also do their grocery shopping there, but I don't think they ever buy tickets.
  10. OK, switching the subject drastically away from Facebook: Anybody here in Mensa, or have a close friend/relative in Mensa?
  11. I don't think either DeAza or Viciedo is a starting OF for a championship team, so I trade whichever one gets me the biggest return, or both if I can get a decent return on both. Platoon is a last resort if there really isn't a decent trade deal out there for either one.
  12. Federal civilian plans range from $370/month to $1560/month. Employer(government) pays 75% of premiums for plans at or below $1250/month and a fixed subsidy of $940 for anything above that. Premium increases for 2014 ranged from $1/month to $66/month. My particular family plan is $1245/month and increases $2/month for next year.
  13. I like vacation pictures. They tend to include pictures of hot chicks in bikinis.
  14. Here you go Rock, upload this to your FB page:
  15. I agree completely. We do the elf thing with our kids in December, and they love it, but we don't say a single thing about it on Facebook. And yes, anybody that posts pictures of food on plates gets hidden from my news feed.
  16. When you include all the non-jackpot prizes, a lottery's return is generally 50%. That is why the jackpot is always listed as "estimated" because the jackpot is calculated after final ticket sales and non-jackpot payouts are finalized in order to get the return to exactly 50%. Slot machines generally have a much better return of 80-90%. Of course, the lottery is the only way to get a potential return of 200+ million times your investment, so that is why it thrives despite the low odds.
  17. All the Cowboys fans I know talk about Romo as if he's better than Peyton Manning the week after a Cowboys win yet the same people talk about him as if he's worse than Rex Grossman the week after a loss.
  18. Is it possible he got them mixed up and meant John but said Jordan?
  19. If the Sox believe that Viciedo is going to be a middle of the order bat, then they need to eventually move him to 1B/DH and get a left-handed power bat for LF. Unless the Sox are planning on signing Choo or manage to get such a bat in a trade, there is no reason to dump Dunn for nothing instead of waiting until 2015 to move Viciedo to 1B/DH. As many people have noted, as exciting as it is to get guys like Abreu, Garcia, Davidson, and Eaton, a lot of good prospects bust and the Sox need to get more young talent whenever possible, and the best way to turn Dunn into young talent is to deal him midseason, when he is hopefully hitting well and has less salary remaining.
  20. I would like to trade Dunn, but I understand that it is very unlikely that there is any trade that will a) unload most of his salary or b) net a good prospect in return, and the likelihood of BOTH a) and b) is almost zero. He is a guy you hope has a monster first half and trade at the deadline.
  21. Senate passed the cloture motion on the Ryan/Murray budget 67-33. Extremely unlikely that 18 Senators flip and vote against final passage, so this really does seem to be an end to the threat of another shutdown.
  22. Died in a tragic blimp accident over the Orange Bowl on New Year's Day
