Millions and millions of people think that homosexuality is a huge moral problem, and I have never heard a single one say that it should be criminalized. Like I said, that is complete, made up bulls***.
-
This is exactly why, while guys like Ramirez, Viciedo, and Pierzynski who don't take many pitches, aren't bad to have individually, it's really bad to have a lot of them. Most bullpens are pretty weak, and you want the other team's bullpen pitching as many innings as possible. You get to the bullpen faster when you have several guys in the lineup who work the count.

Unless you are talking about a serious, baseball-only organization like Baseball America or Baseball Prospectus, off-season moves are going to be judged by the impact on 2014 win totals and not long-term. Agreeing to pay guys $15M+ down the road when they are in their late 30s is a great move because they will win games in 2014. Trading for 22 year olds who won't peak for another 3-4 years is just a blip on the radar.

The Bears should have offered Toub however much money it took to relieve the awkwardness. Both the importance of special teams and the brilliance of Toub are vastly underestimated.

Well, it's not exactly in Cincinnati, but if you like beer and meat, the Hoffbrauhaus in Newport is one of the best restaurants you will ever find.

I'm a big NASCAR and IndyCar fan. I never really got into F1, but I paid a little bit more attention during the years when they had races at Indy. Schumacher is still the only person to win five races at IMS.

No, it doesn't necessarily mean that, but nothing he said gives any hint that he thinks it should be criminalized. That's a bunch of made up self-serving bulls*** on your part.

My thoughts about yesterday's game: Cutler is not an elite QB, but he had a good game and was very good when the season was on the line in the second half. Nobody anywhere as near as good as Cutler is going to be available in free agency and it would take a s***load of draft picks to trade up to get Bridgewater. Conversely, this is by far the best offense Cutler is ever going to be able to pilot, so he'd be smart not to price himself out of the Bears' range. Hopefully he understands that the Bears need all the cap space they can get to find some DB and DL. Something needs to improve with the special teams. I don't know why Toub left, but that may have been the biggest loss the Bears suffered. Yes, Hester is amazing, but Toub is a very big reason why Hester was able to accomplish what he has. I'm on the fence with Tucker. There were an insurmountable number of injuries, but even at full strength the defense wasn't good. I won't be upset if he's fired, but I won't be upset if they give him one more year. I don't know how much cap space they can save by cutting Peppers, but it may be time for him to go.

Official 2013-2014 NCAA Football Thread

Need to revive this thread to tell you about my wife's 40th birthday party. My wife turned 40 Friday, and for her birthday she wanted to have a poker-themed party, which we did last night. We had a $40 buy-in tournament, with a $40 bonus bounty for knocking out my wife. We had 20 people show for the tournament, and once the tournament dwindled down, we had two tables of cash games running. At one point, there was about $2000 in play between the two tables. Chicken feed compared to casinos but quite a bit for our game. My wife got sloppy drunk and lost quite a bit, but I had an incredible night and won enough to cover her losses plus most of the cost of the party.

Try actually reading what he said and then come back here to contribute.

Couldn't pay me enough money to go near a mall on the day after Thanksgiving, the last Saturday before Christmas, Christmas Eve, or the day after Christmas.

You are not allowed to burn xylene on Xanadu while watching X-men or playing a xylophone.

Unlikely that Saint Nicholas was born white, but after hundreds of years at the North Pole, he is now.

That would be a crowning achievement if Coop could fix him. -
Quite the procrastinating group, those Festivus celebrants.

No, because to really repay them, the Packers need to be overwhelming Super Bowl favorites when you do it. The Packers aren't winning the Super Bowl this year anyway. Wait for a better spot.

Is that a puck in your pants or are you just happy to see me?

Working, but we get out 2 hours early.

My commute to work right now is 5 miles. However my commute for the holidays is insane. From where I live now it is 250 miles to where most of my family lives and 125 miles to where most of my wife's family lives. We will end up logging over 1000 miles just visiting family for Christmas. I am trying to find a new job that is going to cut down the holiday travel, plus with funding cuts to my agency, I'm one reorg away from getting transferred to LA or Atlanta. Finding work outside of government where I can start at a level that doesn't require me to take a massive pay cut is very challenging, so I have to be flexible. My target area is essentially anywhere in Indiana that is north of I-70 and south of I-90. While meeting those requirements, Morocco is far from ideal due to not being near anything resembling a metro area, but this company has corporate offices in Indy so that option may be available in the future.

Half this thread is grievances regarding the Bears defense.

Deion Sanders seems like the logical person to mention next.

Well, I'm pretty sure we would not live in Morocco. 55 miles to West Lafayette 39 miles to Crown Point 55 miles to Valparaiso
