I realize that pretty much anything can end up as a 'buster topic but this doesn't seem like one--yet.

Yeah, the year before my first kid started kindergarten, our district switched to a calendar that runs 9 on/2 off/9 on/2 off/9 on/2 off/9 on, which leaves 8 weeks for summer break. This is the way I look at it: Everybody else is taking family vacations from July 30-August 12 while my kids are in school. We can take family vacations from October 4-17 while everybody else's kids are in school. Hotels are a little bit cheaper and popular tourist attractions will be less crowded. We're actually coming up to Chicago the week of October 11. I expect the museums to be much less crowded than if we were there right now.

My kids started school July 30.

This was a poorly designed survey in general. But specifically, the question about fan input impacting team decisions. I sure hope they're talking about team decisions in the areas of ticket/parking pricing, marketing and promotions. If they're talking about fan input affecting team personnel decisions, then I want no part of that. No team should be catering to fans that way.

Apparently the best way to mark the anniversary of a cop shooting somebody is shooting at the cops, thus forcing them to shoot you.

Drugs and theft can't be legitimately used in self-defense, though, at least not in any situation I can come up with off the top of my head. The bad guys are going to have guns regardless of the laws, but I will feel safer if the good guys are allowed to have guns.

Because gun laws will keep the bad guys from getting guns, just like laws keep them from getting drugs and stealing.

Couldn't stomach watching the entire debate last night but watched some clips this morning and Kasich's answers on Medicaid and gay marriage show that he isn't afraid to challenge the hardcore right-wing of the party. He's far and away my first choice from either party right now, but I believe that if he gains much momentum at all, the Koch machine will take him down well before he can get near the nomination.

There was a local case just last week where a 22 year old guy was charged with statutory rape for having sex with a 15 year old he met at a bar. Being that she was in a bar he had pretty good reason to believe she was legal. Seemed like a s***ty deal for the guy. Obviously no details in Kane's case yet, but it sounds like it could be the same kind of thing.

But PP has been in this business for years, so if these communities still don't have access, then they really suck at what they're doing.

Totally agree with the first sentence. As to the second sentence, the bill that just got shot down in Congress would have taken every dollar that was supposed to go to PP and given it to other organizations that do all of the same things PP does except abortions, so that would not have been true in this case.

If you ever run for office, good luck getting funding from any left-wing PAC's with that position.
