  1. I was sitting here at work listening to the cub broadcast :puke because I couldn't get AM1000 in. The guy over the wall is a cub fan and I got to tell him what happened and it was a beautiful thing. :fthecubs
  2. Just wanted to bump this up to the top so it can be used when Idiot cub fans (Yes, I know it is redundant) start talking smack this week...
  3. Kobe, does this glove fit you?
  4. "Pure and simple, anything short of a World Series berth means the Cubs have failed this season." Here's to failure...

    Finally

I heard on the radio this morning that they limited beer sales to 1 beer for each purchase. That had to help too.
  6. First off, I have no rooting interest in the series, I am calling it like I see it. The call wasn't about being kicked in. It was if the puck comepletely crossed the goal line. There wasn't a "distinct Kicking motion", the player was stopping and the puck can be "directed" in but not "Kicked" in. It was a very close play, but the replay that ABC showed wasn't from directly over the top or directly on the goal line and it made it look like the puck was in. Remember, the puck has to completely cross the goal line. The puck was on end and yes there was daylight between the bottom of the puck and the goal line, but it was a very deceptive angle. Since the puck is round, there can still be a part of it over the line. To illustrate: If you take a puck and stand it on end at the edge of your desk and look at it from an angle, it looks like it is completely on the desk. When you look at it from the side, it still has a portion hanging over the edge. Same thing. And the main thing is that the league said they didn't have conclusive evidence to overturn the call on the ice which was No goal. I just want to see a good close 1 goal game. I don't want it to be a blowout in the first period.
  7. Dave: Whoa...I have heard of back checking, but this is ridiculous!!!
  8. Mine is "Bear Down, Chicago Bears".
  9. Only if you like to watch bad poker being played.
  10. I love the WSOP. There is so much strategy involved. If you want some up to date info on what is going on in the tournament, go to www.cardplayer.com and click on the WSOP link. Then scroll down toward the bottom of the events list for each days results. On Day 1, 400 people were eliminated including last years winner Chris Moneymaker.
  11. And 2 questions before that comment was this: "Trent, St. Louis: what about the Bears, can they move up in the North? Chris Mortensen: I don't see it. If you're a Bears fan, you're going to just have to let them surprise you. realistically, I have to slot 'em fourth behind the Pack, Vikes and Lions. " So we aren't acting like the media is out to get us. He made this comment and losing your division means you are one of the worst teams in the league. How is that an exmple of "how people create their own bias"? You tried to create a bias by not listing all of the facts, though.
  12. Damn right!! I was watching alot of Tampa this season, so I am hoping they take it all. Not to mention all of the Canadians on another board I post at are all Puffy chested wanting the Flames to "Bring the cup back to Canada". Even though they are Nuck, Habs, Leaf or Oiler fans. :fyou
  13. It is only a 1 year deal, so I think it is a bit of a safety blanket until the labor situation is decided. Why not keep Yawney down in Norfolk actually coaching this year instead of up with the big club sitting on his ass. If the season is played, give Sutter enough rope to hang himself and then bring Yawney in the mix. Too bad I know the Hawks aren't thinking this way.
  14. Sorry to hear it dude!! My prayers are with you.
  15. Yesterday both papers had stories about Britney Spears wearing a Baron's hat in her video. The Sun-Times had a big picture with a good quarter page story about it. The Cubune had a tiny picture and 10 line story buried on the second to last page. I had to just laugh.
  16. Same thing for me. I don't have the time to follow the minors.
  17. When the pronunciation is spelled out for you on the game notes they give you it is. He also has access to the players and could stoop down and ask them how they pronounce their name too. He is just a tool. How hard is it to say Thibault? Yes it looks weird, but the game notes say: 41 - Jocelyn Thibault(TEE-bow), Goal, 5' 10" ... Yet the screamer always calls him Tih-BOW. Completely wrong. Once again...back to your regularly scheduled baseball announcer thread.
  18. You are kidding about Thorne being great at hockey right? He is a complete tool. He constantly mis-pronounces names, even though the pronuciation is listed on the papers in front of him, he screams when there isn't a reason to, he misses obvious things that happen during the game. And most of all he is biased when he calls a game. And now back to your regularly scheduled thread.
  19. Damn right. Yesterday's game pissed me off too...It let the cubs catch Houston and tie them for first. :fthecubs
  20. Did the prick bother to call us the White Sox or did he say "the other team" again? :fyou Jeff

    A New Handle

How about "The Hammer"! It has Hamster in it and shows your tough.
  22. Tough to compare the 2 because they are on different media. If Hawk and DJ did the same broadcast on radio that they do on TV, people would be lost. If Rooney and Farmer did their radio broadcast on TV, people would say they talk way too much. Hawk and DJ don't have to describe everything since the TV does that for them. It allows them to talk about other stuff that isn't necessarily shown on the screen. They can say "A great catch by (insert player)" and then watch the replay. Where Rooney and Farmeo would have to say "A great diving catch by (player). He had to sprint over to his right at full speed and dive headlong to make a great catch." I mean, look at Harry. He was incoherent for years, but it didn't matter. People could see what was going on and didn't really need him.
  23. I still collect them. I too have the folder and want to fill it up for my daughter. I also tend to keep 4 or 5 more of each state, just to have. Who knows what a complete set may be worth in 20 years.
  24. One of the achors was giving Jeff Brantley a 10 question quiz which he had to give an answer and then after he was done, he was asked for reasoning behind his answers. One of the questions was "Will a Chicago baseball team make the playoffs?" He answered "YES". Great. Then they go for his explanation of which one and of course said "The Cubs...not the other team. They are hitting well..." at that point I changed the channel. I was furious at his comments. Not that we won't make the playoffs, but being called "The other team"!!! :fyou Jeff Brantley. Show a little respect for a Major League team that is in first place(At the time we were) and call them by their team name. We are the White Sox. The way he answered almost seemed as he was insulted by even being questioned about which one. He acted like there was really only 1 good team. Did anyone else see this and have a similar reaction? :fyou Jeff Brantley :fyou
