  1. I vote Brett Austin for starting C if this is how Rodon will throw lol
  2. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 24, 2015 -> 01:14 PM) To the Dodgers, 6 years 62.5 Million yuck
  3. QUOTE (raBBit @ Mar 24, 2015 -> 02:26 PM) Ruling out signing players who have prior arrests in the NFL is severely limiting you player base to pull from. It's an unfortunate truth. McDonald seems to be falsely accused of rape (which seems to be happening more and more lately) and if he's Fangio's choice I am happy. It's a one year deal and he's probably being signed under market value because of the false accusations. I completely agree. I know its a moral question but he is being signed for a sports team. He is a useful sports player and ill take him.
  4. QUOTE (southside hitman @ Mar 23, 2015 -> 03:49 PM) With all the Micah Johnson talk, I was surprised to see Carlos Sanchez rocking a .348/.400/.348 line into today. Like others have said, i think its the "wow" factor and game changing ability that micah bring that makes him the easier choice. Im glad Sanchez is having a great spring though, its good to have multiple options.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 22, 2015 -> 09:41 AM) You mean other than Danks? There's no way the Sox are going after Hamels and emptying the farm....that would be insane (Crosses fingers). Now, those incremental improvement guys like an Edwin Jackson, they COULD be of interest short-term. But there's just no way the budget has any room to push up another $5-10 million at this point in the proceedings. There's also a possibility Noesi becomes expendable with Rodon moving into the rotation...assuming he has "decent" value to another organization in need of some stability at the back end. By that point, Montas, Danish or even Erik Johnson might be in the picture as legit candidates (ala Brandon McCarthy late 2005). I'd rather have noesi than jackson.
  6. QUOTE (LDF @ Mar 21, 2015 -> 06:33 AM) bpa, ok, i can see that, but when 2 players being equal, and 2 different position, it has to be graded on a different scale. now with the sox at this time, the team is really closed with a couple of expiring contracts, esp at the SS position. Alexia contract is expiring when, a yr. we all are assuming Anderson is the next one. but it is still not guarantee. a couple of SS who are really good in college. the main pitchers are off the board, do the sox forgo the better player who may be a outfielder and draft a SS who is really good, a close 2nd to the outfielder. or do the sox go the fa rt b/c they took the bpa. You take BPA because you don't know what will happen within the ~3/4/5/6 years it takes the player to develop. A player that isn't thought of much in the organization can blow up, or a simple small FA signing can become extremely useful.
  7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 20, 2015 -> 05:24 PM) Ummm....when do we start worrying (again) about Tyler Flowers? Still too early? Soto will be the starter and then a trade near the deadline. Calling it.
  8. Sox have some great deals for their young players.
  9. QUOTE (southside hitman @ Mar 20, 2015 -> 09:22 AM) Guess they are catering to the casual fans... I figured this is the exact type of commercials they would do. Might as well hype your new toys.
  10. They really need to hit at #8 since we lost the other picks. I have faith that they will do so as well.
  11. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Mar 19, 2015 -> 03:11 PM) Danks rebounded in August/September and Cooper had nothing but praise for him if I remember correctly. . I am only concered about a further injury or aggravation of the arm issue he had. I think he remains #4 in the rotation, if healthy. Noesi seemed to have earned the #5 spot and Cooper was working further with him. Now if that doesn't pan out I would assume Penny is up there as a choice but where does that leave Rodon? AAA where maybe he should be or does he take someone's rotation spot. I personally think Rodon needs more minor league seasoning and when brought up he is there to stay as a starter Wouldn't it be feasible to carry Penny in the pen as a long relief?
  12. QUOTE (Lillian @ Mar 19, 2015 -> 11:49 AM) I'd love to see some video of his 3 hits in yesterday's game. I'm curious to see if his swing was really any different. I doubt it, probably just the usual gordon flash and then crash back down.
  13. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 19, 2015 -> 10:44 AM) That's why I was clear to say his PROSPECT stock is NOT down. The article is about chances to make the Opening Day roster, and his chances at that have definitely diminished (though it was at best a 50/50 thing anyway, probably less). Missed that, my bad.
  14. Great article again. I don't know if I'd go to say that Rodon's stock is "down" but more in-line with what should be expected from a player at his current status. But he is down from his extremely high perch that he was on after his first start.
  15. Hopefully he can have another good year and get himself into ~top 100 prospect status.
  16. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 19, 2015 -> 08:51 AM) No. I second this motion.
  17. No way you want Johnson running behind flowers.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 16, 2015 -> 09:55 AM) Bob Klapisch ‏@BobKlap 11m11 minutes ago Wheeler injury is no surprise to #Mets. They knew he had elbow problems last year and never disclosed it. If they knew, Im surprised they didn't explore surgery right after the season had ended.
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 16, 2015 -> 02:07 PM) When this season is over, Gavin will have been paid $1,250,000 per start the last 3 years. I wonder if he tries again. I can't imagine a team giving him anywhere near $4 million to try. I'd think teams would probably want him to fully complete his rehab before giving him anything at this point.
  20. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 12, 2015 -> 09:28 AM) Is there some really pressing issue going on that should prevent us during spring training to focus on our lottery ticket players getting a puff piece? I enjoyed article. I can say without a doubt this guy is going to win at least 12 cy youngs and probably run a successful line of work out videos. I agree. There is no reason to be negative in spring training. It's supposed to be a fun time, and personally I love hearing about the improvements that players are making. There are 162 games for us to complain about how bad someone is. Let spring hope be eternal.
