LOST!!!!
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 5, 2009 -> 11:06 AM) Which makes me ask the next question, why wouldn't Dan teach others to have a constant? Maybe he doesn't know who everyone else's constant is? Sawyer - Kate (would explain why he didn't have the nosebleed) Juliet - Jack Locke - The Island or Richard? Charlotte - Annie? Miles - His father?

LOST!!!!
QUOTE (Nixon @ Feb 5, 2009 -> 09:33 AM) If either of them die I have to figure it'll be Charlotte, she's got a much less interesting background than Miles "The Ghost Whisperer" Someone came up with the theory that Miles was Pierre Chang's son. That makes a whole lot of sense to me.

Official 2008-2009 NFL Offseason Thread
QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Feb 4, 2009 -> 01:34 AM) As much as TO may need to leave Dallas, I really don't like going in with Williams & Crayton as the top 2 guys. Agreed on Kosier & the FS. I'd like more secondary help period. Also if Dallas lets go of TO, doesn't that take a big chunk out of the cap for 09? I also read a rumor a little while back that Jerry may be interested in bringing in Ray Lewis, something like that may be needed to get things right in the locker room. I think Williams will bounce back next season if he's 100% healthy. I just don't think TO and Garrett can co-exist in the locker room. One needs to go.

Afghanistan and Obama's New Plan
QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 5, 2009 -> 09:39 AM) honestly, for some semblance of success in these two countries we need help from some unattractive countries. I think off the top of my head, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Great Britain all have troops over there ATM, but I could be wrong. I know we definitely do.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 4, 2009 -> 03:45 PM) Umm....I'd trade dye for Balentein straight up, but I doubt the M's would. I don't know about that Jason. Yeah Balentien has 30-35HR potential, but he also put up a .202/.250/.342 line in 243 AB's last season. He has a LONG way to go to reach his potential.

Gotta Love Kenny Williams, Seriously
Garland will throw more innings than Colon. I have no idea about the ERA's though. Garland's should go down, but Colon looked pretty decent for the Red Sox when healthy last season.

Afghanistan and Obama's New Plan
FWIW, I was reading this morning that Medvedev came out and said Russia was willing to help America with Afghanistan. Some welcome news I guess, although actions do speak louder than words.

Video Game Catch-All Thread
So EA announced some pretty bad results yesterday or the day before, and are firing about 10-15% of their staff and pushing the release date of some games such as Sime 3 back a few months. I don't think there'll be much sympathy for them though.

LOST!!!!
At least we'll get to see Rousseau's back story now, and how she killed all of her people. So I'm guessing we'll see the Others next week in some form (maybe with Ben on the island, or even Annie). I think one of Miles or Charlotte is about to be killed off very soon also. I'll go with the former. Can't have all those nose bleeds and have no-one dying.

QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 4, 2009 -> 10:00 PM) So yeah, tonight's going to have the Knicks fans saying they don't really want Lebron on their team. He's no Al Harrington.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 4, 2009 -> 12:24 PM) Yeah they are having a good class. Did they sell you as a fan when you visited? Nice. Yeah I pretty much decided that was the team I'm going to go for about a couple of games there.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 4, 2009 -> 12:56 PM) 200 IP, 3.45 ERA at age 22? Yeah, those numbers are pretty much impossible to ignore. He also pitched better away from Safeco last season. The kid's an absolute stud, and will get a MEGA contract when he hits FA.

Official 2008-2009 NHL Thread
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 4, 2009 -> 12:32 PM) I was very unhappy with moving Tuomo Ruutu for Andrew Ladd only for Ruutu's personality and all-world untapped talent. DT proved me and a lot here wrong, Ladd is blossoming into exactly what we need at a much more reasonable price. He has actually matched Ruutu's 29 points, though obviously Tuoms has more of a nose for the net still. Ruutu was seen as the savior for this franchise a few years back and because of injury / pressure, it just didn't work out at all. It's been a move that's helped both players. Ladd will never be the power forward in Bertuzzi mould he was touted as, but he's still got 60 point potential for sure, if he keeps improving his game.

Afghanistan and Obama's New Plan
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 4, 2009 -> 12:30 PM) Here is the key question/problem for this country's Afghan policy: Yeah they need to figure one out quick, because NATO is having real problems out there. Just read a story that the Taliban captured 30 Pakistani Police Officers and released them only on the condition that they would quit and refuse to fight the Taliban again. Things like that are happening all of the time in that region now.

According to Biden, it is patriotic to pay taxes.
QUOTE (Texsox @ Feb 4, 2009 -> 12:31 PM) It isn't so much cheating, but the average American can not truly understand the totality of the tax code. Errors are made, and corrected. I understand what you're saying, would it still go on your record though as cheating on your taxes etc. (and here's hoping I don't on mine upcoming).

According to Biden, it is patriotic to pay taxes.
How many Americans on average per year as a % would cheat on their taxes though? Homer Simpson did. Does that make him unpatriotic?

Afghanistan and Obama's New Plan
Yeah this is an issue which needs urgent attention IMO, moreso that Iraq and maybe more than the Middle East. Because the Taliban are regrouping over there and causing quite a serious threat, in a dangerous region. Obama certainly has a lot on his plate ATM.

Silly Mariners-Quentin Rumor thread
Ok here's a question. If you were offered Felix Hernandez for Carlos Quentin, what would your response be? Would you ask for Morrow to be included in the deal also (with the Sox likely giving up something back I would think).

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 4, 2009 -> 12:18 PM) His line has arguably been one of the best of late. Yeah I'm impressed with Ladd and Bolland as well. On most other teams they could easily be playing on the 2nd line. Both still have room to grow also.

Catch-All Anything Thread
QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Feb 3, 2009 -> 10:39 PM) So she's gotten a little thick, I wouldn't say fat territory yet. I still wouldn't kick her out of bed at this point. Hilarious how it was Fox News' lead story the other week. Ashlee (or Popeye as she was referred to back in the day here) thought so as much on one of her blogs.

Flight of the Conchords Season 2
QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Feb 4, 2009 -> 09:59 AM) Agreed, they are adding a funny dynamic to Murray. He is like the kid in class that gets picked on by the cool people, and wants to be a cool person. The elevator scene was pretty funny Alan Dale is just in everything though. When Murray said he was going to complain to the head of the consulate I said "I bet it's that Widmore guy from Lost" and what do you, it was.

Official 2008-2009 NHL Thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 4, 2009 -> 10:19 AM) He's a classic second fiddle. He can't be "the guy" but playing in the shadows behind some guys, he is very solid. If the Hawks can get him re-signed for 4M a season, I think they have to seriously consider doing that. He gives you that much needed scoring punch from the 2nd / 3rd line. Something like a 2 year deal would be reasonable enough.

I loved the boys from the Australian Consulate. Hopefully we see more of them as we go along.

Official 2008-2009 NBA Thread
If I was going to pick a trade scenario, I would go with Earl Watson for Bogans and Cook or Keyon Dooling for Bogans with a 2nd rounder thrown in.
