  1. Dragon Age 2 was a bit of a dissapointment really. The graphics have definitely improved for the original which is a plus, but the negatives are; 1 - The story. There's no main villian, and no direction really, definitely not on par with the 1st one. 2 - The area. You are pretty much in Kirkwall for the most part. That gets old pretty quickly. 3 - The supporting characters just aren't as good as the original. 4 - It's too console friendly now. For a PC player, you can't pause and zoom in and out on the battlefield as you could the original. It's still a good game, but it could have been better.
  2. Good night for us and Miami it seems, with the Bulls, Knicks and Hawks all losing, and the Celtics down by 22 to Houston in the 3rd. There's actually a chance Philadelphia could end up with the 5 seed if Atlanta continue playing the way they have over the past 5-6 games.
  3. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 19, 2011 -> 02:06 AM) Brian "White Mamba" Scalabrine, because he missed a shot to get the Bulls 100 points the other night, is going to be at a McDonald's downtown today and is buying Big Mac's for the first 100 folks to show up in Bulls gear. His legend is growing, and this is the most like-able team of all-time. Human Victory Cigar v2.0?

    2011 Music Thread

Don't think I've heard a more annoying autotune in my life than that song. And what the hell is Usher doing? He seems to be signing every little kid off the street these days.
  5. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Mar 18, 2011 -> 11:37 PM) Actually that is what he is probably best at this season. He struggles more on weak-side help and in the pick and roll game. I guess for a PG, you can kind of associate pick and roll defense with 1 on 1 defense, because so many teams use the pick and roll game as a base offense.
  6. QUOTE (lostfan @ Mar 18, 2011 -> 01:57 PM) It's officially time to stop saying that Derrick Rose doesn't play defense or is a liability on defense, it's just flat-out not true anymore. I'd counter this by saying he's probably still in the bottom third of starting PG's in the league when it comes to 1 on 1 defense. However, in Thibodeau's defensive system, in which interior defense is such a key element, it's not going to be a dealbreaker if the opposition beat Rose off the dribble, because you've got the likes of Noah and Asik waiting inside. Kind of like Howard with the Magic really (when you look at someone like Nelson). That's why I'd argue Howard is a real MVP candidate because no-one impacts both ends of the court as much as he does in the NBA (but that's an argument for another time).
  7. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Mar 18, 2011 -> 01:04 AM) I know I am in the minority, but I don't dislike LeBron. Part of the hate toward him is the unfortunate timing for his free agency's with the explosion of new-age media, which made every thing he said/did news. The Decision was a horrible PR move, but other than that, I don't think there is much for me to hate LeBron on. I think there's a few things. The decision to walk off without shaking hands with any of Orlando's players after they lost in the ECF for 1 thing. His ability to get coaches fired. Mike Brown for one, Spoelstra very close early in the season (where do you think those rumors about him getting fired came from, Lebron's brass of course). His lack of taking responsibility. Every time he didn't make a game winning shot, he would blame everyone but himself. So basically, Lebron looks out for 1 person and that's Lebron.
  8. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Mar 17, 2011 -> 01:38 PM) Wade has to be the most unlikeable player in the NBA. Personally, Lebron's far more unlikeable IMO.
  9. Nelson fouls Jennings on a 3PT attempt with the Bucks down by 3 with 4 secs left, and he makes all 3 FT's. Just horrible.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 17, 2011 -> 01:06 AM) All the rest of us ask in response is that the Kevin Love fans can't get annoyed when we note that no matter how special his streak was, no matter whether or not the TWOlves are one of the best rebounding teams in the league, that streak was during a run of 13-40 by the team. That's a marvel in itself. That just shows you how important good coaching and finding a system to fit the talent on the team is today. Look at Denver for instance. They've gone 8-2 since the Melo trade, and you wouldn't say that team has a star player now. What they do have though is 8-9 guys who can all contribute to the role they're assigned, and they're very well coached by Karl obviously.
  11. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 16, 2011 -> 04:02 PM) But can you still beat Boston or Orlando in the playoffs? Seems to me they'll both just feed it down low all game and terrorize the Bulls. Maybe Asik can do that some day, but surely not in the next two years. I actually think Boston is the best matchup for us in the Semi - Finals, even though they are argubly the best team in the East. But as for Orlando, we have become so inconsistent, and unless Hedo really gets it going and Nelson plays at his best, I don't think we'll go very far.

    Job Hunt Thread

I just got offered a job as a Fraud Analyst at one of the Big 4 Banks down here in Melbourne. Right now they're doing a background check, and they have to do both a domestic and international police check (since my last 2 jobs have been in New York and then London). So I could be starting either on Monday or in 3-4 weeks time (depending on whether they can have me start after the domestic one is cleared).
  13. That dude reminds me of Goldberg from the Mighty Ducks Franchise.
  14. NJ's actually won 5 in a row now. Interested to see how that team will look next season when they sign Kirilenko in the off-season and Deron has a full season with them. They still have some bad contracts though (Outlaw 5/35, Petro 3/10 etc.). We're up by 5 over the Lakers at HT. Kobe clearly shouldn't be playing with that ankle of his, but I'll definitely take the win if we can pull it off (would give us a winning West Coast Road Trip which is always nice).
  15. QUOTE (T R U @ Mar 14, 2011 -> 06:31 PM) man TNA is so bad Honky Tonk Man came out today and said if Hogan got an offer from WWE right now he would take it and bail on TNA. Probably BS, but it wouldn't surprise me if Hogan was to do something like that. You can tell the booking under Russo and Sullivan has all gone to s***. The only chance TNA really had was to bring in Paul Heyman to run things and they screwed that up.
  16. Jeff Hardy got pinned by Sting in less than a minute in the PPV tonite. Way to get your money's worth there.
  17. Pretty crazy finish in this Magic vs Warriors game. Looks like GS are going to win now though.

    Japan Tsunami

And really it's been a crazy 3-6 months for these type of disasters. I can't remember at any point in my lifetime, around the whole Pacific / Oceanic Region, for things to be as bad as they have been.

    Japan Tsunami

5th biggest Earthquake since 1900 apparently. Considering the Tsunami disaster in Sri Lanka, Indonesia etc. back in 2004 I think it was, the worst may still yet to come.
  20. Tough break for him, but then hopefully that thumb will heal up fine, no need to rush him back or anything. Get him those AB's at Charlotte until he's ready to produce again probably as a utility guy for us.
  21. Heat just went to the basket on every shot down the stretch it seemed. Kobe had a rough night after his good start, and the Lakers had a few too many turnovers between the big men, especially at the end of the 3rd period. But Miami actually got some bench production tonight, and that made all of the difference in the world, that and Bosh playing decent for a change.

    Australia

Pretty much what everyone has said is spot on. If you are going to stay at the Reef, the Whitsunday Islands are your best bet (such as Hamilton Island, Long Island, Dunk Island etc.) Further north is Cairns and Port Douglas, be warned they've had lots of cyclones and hurricanes recently in that area though. Really beautiful place though, you've got the beach and the rainforest all in 1 setting basically. Townsville and Mackay are other options also in that area. An underrated place to visit is the Sunshine Coast, just north of Brisbane. About 25 miles of beach, about 6 towns along it, good holiday spot places such as Noosa and Mooloolaba. Brisbane's an hour and a half drive south from there, and another hour south is the Gold Coast (another good beach holiday spot). The Eastern Seaboard is really the way to go. Sydney obviously, Melbourne's an hour flight SW of Sydney (Sydney's more of a touristy town though, but Melbourne is excellent to check out nonetheless).
  23. I didn't actually think the Kwame Brown hit on Boozer wasn't that bad, it was just unfortunate that Boozer landed the way he did on his ankle. That kind of stuff does happen unfortunately (those type of hits I mean). Look at Bogut last season when he dislocated his elbow for instance.
  24. QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Mar 9, 2011 -> 02:17 PM) The Boshtrich was 3-11 with only 4 rebounds in 40+ minutes. They also had a great shooting night from Mike Miller. And this statement from Lebron pretty much tells you, Bosh doesn't have a long - term future on this team IMO; Aldridge and and Wallace had 48 b/w them tonight. Teams with good PF's are going to punish Miami offensively, but that's nothing new.
