  1. Some keys for the Panthers if they want to beat the Bears; Thomas Jones can't get over 100 yards rushing. Jones is kind of like Tiki Barber's importance to the Giants. If you can stop him and the Bears running game, then it puts the Bears in a lot more passing situations. They've got to get another receiver going other than Steve Smith. Smith's going to get his 7-10 catches. That's a given, he's just too good. But last time they played, and he did better than that, it didn't matter. The Panthers need a Drew Carter, a Keary Colbert, a Kris Magnum or Ricky Proehl to stand up and be counted. The Panthers O-Line. Probably the biggest key for them. I think it's actually quite underrated. Gross and Wahle are pro - bowlers, while guys like Mitchell have also done a pretty good job. If the Bears get 5 sacks or over though, I don't like Carolina's chances.

Gotta be DEAKIN!!!!!! (if you're into the whole international thing).
  3. QUOTE(FGarcia34 @ Jan 9, 2006 -> 06:18 PM) Is this an abreu thread or a why the hell did torii hunter win the gold glove thread? It's called a Thread Hijack. Unless people want 30 pages dedicated to the top 10 reasons why Bobby Abreu outranks Jermaine Dye defensively.
  4. They've seriously gotta can Yawney's ass right now.
  5. I'm such a bad person;
  6. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 8, 2006 -> 09:39 PM) Yeah but the Jags O-Line as a whole was really outmatched the entire game.... Denver has a much better O-Line and running game. Also unlike Leftwich who is a statue Plummer can move around so that just helps the O-Line even more. I think it would be a much better game at the very least. But if you can get pressure on Jake, he's shown that he'll have his fair share of mistakes still. And that'll be the key for New England this game, getting pressure on Jake Plummer. And with their defense, I like their chances, even though the Broncos D-Line is still one of the better in the league. When we played them on Thanksgiving, with our 3-4 system, we did get pressure on Plummer quite a bit, and he threw his 1st INT in quite a while. Not saying it will happen again, but if the Pats can stop the run of Denver, that'll put Denver in a lot more passing and 3rd down situations, which will help them send multiple guys, and mix up the coverages which they're so good at.
  7. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 8, 2006 -> 09:45 PM) Am I the only one who really likes othella? Anyways, hopefully they're starting to get some s*** turned around, I'll be back at the UC on Monday so I expect a good showing against the red hot Raptors(that felt weird to say). You think Jeff Van Gundy and Carroll Dawson are regretting that Mike James for Rafer Alston trade right now? James has been on fire the last couple of weeks. If the Raptors actually got a center who's not a stiff in their lineup, they'd actually be in pretty good shape, assuming they could keep Chris Bosh around.
  8. Currently working for a Major Stockbroking Company down here at the moment. The stocks we trade down here would be different down here on the ASX compared to what you have up there though, but we still have things like Managed Funds etc.
  9. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jan 8, 2006 -> 09:10 PM) Any combination of Hernanez, Rodriguez, and Astacio would be a HUGE downgrade from Clemens and Backe. Their bullpen can't be expected to be as good without Lidge either. Even if Clemens return is guaranteed, playing two months of baseball without your best starter is enough to knock you out of contention. These are the moments Texas should take a chance and trade one, perhaps two, players for a stockpile of Astros' pitching. Well don't forget in 2005 they were basically out of it with that losing record, and then they shot back into contention. If they got Clemens back, with an upgraded offense, I wouldn't rule them out, no matter where they were on the standings. Even if the pitching goes down, surely the offense can only improve, with the moves (and more to possibly come).
  10. QUOTE(soxman352000 @ Jan 8, 2006 -> 05:30 PM) Finally, I have longed to see a home game be broadcast. I hope the next owner of the Hawks wises up and puts all of the games on T.V. Wirtz has a son who is going to take over right? 20 years from now, we'll probably still be asking ourselves this question.
  11. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jan 8, 2006 -> 08:50 PM) This is exactly my concern. Astros may figure, trade him now before inevitable arm troubles destroy his value. As for dangling Backe, remember they've yet to replace Clemens. He may return midseason, but that's admist the summer schedule. Are the Astros willing to start next season without Clemens, Lidge, OR Backe for the addition of Tejada? It sounds ridiculous. I'm suprised Tim Purpura offered that much for Miguel Tejada quite frankly. It shows how high the demands were from Peter Angelos and Jim Duquette, and how desperate Purpura is to upgrade his offense. In terms of starters if they did let Backe go, they've got Carlos Hernandez, Wandy Rodriguez and Equziciel Astacio available for rotation spots. Of course dealing has it pro's and con's, the pro's which you've mentioned above. I assume they'd let Chad Qualls or Dan Wheeler be the new closer.
  12. So the Bulls had a bit of a blowout win against Memphis today I see. No-one's really gettin too excited though around here about that now are they. And it's amazing what happens when Steve Francis isn't your PG and Jameer Nelson is.
  13. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 8, 2006 -> 06:16 PM) I think the Broncos can beat the Pats too but yeah no one who was sane would of picked the Jags to beatem. Even though the Broncos will probably go in favorites, I still like the Pats here. Willie Mcguniest was a MONSTER today. If he has another game like that against Jake Plummer, the Broncos are in trouble. Not to mention, the Broncos strength on defense isn't their pass coverage. Should be a great game though if it happens.
  14. Not a solution, but good to see KW not resting on his laurels and adding some guys to the mix. Let's just hope Bentz doesn't suffer from Kevin Walker-itis now.
  15. You think if Brian Anderson could hit .270 in 2006 we would be rejoicing right now?
  16. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 8, 2006 -> 11:21 AM) if Vince stays in college lol and Houstan is the worse team again they could get both Vince and Bush. Just think right now, you're Gary Kubiak (the guy most likely to be the next head coach of the Texans). Put yourself in his shoes. Would you rather Young or Bush? Looking at the Broncos over the years, I'd have to say Young, and that's no disrespect to Bush at all.
  17. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jan 8, 2006 -> 11:32 AM) Davis is a good RB and Bush can start at WR and still return punts. He would get 10-15 rushes a game and play the rest of the game at WR and return punts for the Texans. And I'll ask again, how much money will the Texans be paying those 2 if they keep em both, and will using Bush that way be beneficial to the Texans if they are going to pay him like a #1 pick? They were pretty high on the Salary Cap this season as well, IIRC.

    Joey update...

I'm so sorry to hear that Steff, seemed like he was a little fighter too. Prayers and thoughts with you and Jim and your faimly during this tough time.
  19. Last night was Steak, but then the BBQ caught on fire. Not my fault though.
  20. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jan 8, 2006 -> 09:31 AM) like is said before keep Davis as the starting RB however you use Bush the way USC used him this season. He could pretty much become another WR who could also get 10-15 rushes a game. How much money are the Texans going to be paying those two RB's if they keep both though? Plus I think Bush is more valuable than a change of pace back, the way Cinci use Chris Perry somehow. And then of course the Texans have a LOT of other needs to fill.
  21. Good for us, just another to add to the list of players pulling out.
  22. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 7, 2006 -> 08:31 PM) Now cmon no way in hell would Duhon start over Francis... im not a huge Francis fan but no way he sits over Duhon. The only other teams Duhon would start on is Toronto, Atlanta, Houstan?, Portland, and Minny. And I wouldnt guarantee he would start on those teams just the possibility....Im not a Ben Gordon fan always liked Deng more but he has played much better recently and that includes passing and defense. If you look at Orlando right now, would you say they would be a better team with Chris Duhon playing PG instead of Steve Francis? I know Francis is "almost" an all - star, but he's never been on a winning team, and he's got Stephon Marbury disease. FWIW, Duhon wouldn't start over Mike James (been phenomenal last few weeks in Toronto). But I'd say he'd definitely start for the Cavaliers, Memphis and possibly the Lakers (even though Phil likes his big PG's).
