  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 01:47 PM) He'll be signing with the Cubs within a week. They just love Pirate relievers.
  2. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Dec 11, 2009 -> 06:52 PM) So they are sure that it's your neck? Did they give you an EMG? Oh for the love of God those hurt, bad. No I didn't get an EMG. Basically just went to see a myotherapist, and he did some exercises where he worked on the right side of the neck, and it was really tight and that was where the pain was. When I use my laptop, it was down below my neck, so that was putting some undue pressure onto it also. I have been pain free for almost a week now which is good.
  3. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 03:08 PM) It's December & the Cowboys lose another game they should of won. In other news, tomorrow is Monday. Between the Cowboys & the Bulls, right now is a s***ty time to be a fan. Yep not a shock, it is December after all. Nick Folk is done as our kicker, Buehler should take over this week. As for Wade Phillips, well his job is probably hanging by a thread right now. Doesn't get any easier with a trip to play the Saints next w/e.
  4. Lawrence Frank mooted; Bulls down to GS at the half also.
  5. You put him at DH, who do you have playing at LF and RF if you've got Rios at CF? And don't forget that the Sox are going to shelling out a lot of money this off-season, and they want to improve the bullpen by signing Putz it seems.
  6. I'd be surprised if he gets much gametime for Everton, although they have been ravaged by injury. Don't think he'd played ahead of Jo or Louis Saha, while Tim Cahill and Bilanetdov (know I didn't spell that right) play the AMC in Moyes' 4-4-1-1 system.
  7. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Dec 11, 2009 -> 04:10 PM) I wonder what D-backs fans were saying about Quentin before he played a full season in the bigs... If you're trying to compare Carlos Quentin and Brett Gardner in there relative situations, Carlos Quentin was a former first round pick who at least showed a lot of potential (especially power wise) at the major league level. Gardner is a completely different type of ballplayer.
  8. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 11, 2009 -> 05:43 AM) Pedro Feliz has reportedly agreed to a 1yr deal worth 4 million to play 3rd for the Houston Astros. Damn has Houston been busy. In making their team worse. The owner / GM situation over there is pretty much a fiasco.
  9. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Dec 11, 2009 -> 03:20 PM) This has become the thread about the misperception that Rios playing RF makes his contract a bad one. Having him play RF justifies his deal more than anything else. I'll write it again....RIOS IS AMONG THE BEST DEFENSIVE RF'S IN ALL OF BASEBALL -+60.5 UZR in RF over the last 6 seasons. Ok so say Rios puts up a .750 OPS for the next 5 seasons. Would you rather pay a guy $12M a season to put up those kind of offensive numbers in CF or in RF? Because if he does that in RF, he'll argubly be one of the most overpaid players in baseball relative to his position with his output. At least in CF, that kind of offense is a little more acceptable. That's why if the Sox traded for Gardner and had him starting at CF, the Sox could have one of the worst offensive outfields in baseball I'd hate to say it for 2010.
  10. Gardner makes sense in terms of filling the Sox's need as a leadoff hitter etc. although I personally don't think he's much better than say Jerry Owens. And by acquiring him, you'd be moving Alex Rios to RF, and I don't want that scenario to happen, because you'd be vastly overpaying him in terms of what he'd bring to the table from that spot.
  11. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 11, 2009 -> 05:31 AM) They spent nothing on VDN and gave him a short contract. That alone showed you just how much faith they had in the guy. They took a chance when all other options flamed out (Collins/D'Antoni). Yes, they'll spend the money. Besides Van Gundy and Collins (who'll probably stay in the broadcast booth I'd say), what coaches are out there that you could throw a lot of money at? Besides Byron Scott (who a lot of people don't like), the guy who comes to mind for me ATM is Nate McMillan, as there's been rumors of discontent in Portland, and McMillan would be an ideal candidate to target.
  12. So for the past few weeks I've had a bit of numbness down my right arm, and found out during the week, that I've basically got a bit of a pinched nerveon the right side of my neck from a physiotherpist. And it's really the first time I've had physio in my life, and then he told me that this was only basically a short - term pain relief (what he did, he gave a pretty damn good pounding), and that if I improved my posture (sucked my pelvis in and tilt my neck upwards) that's pretty much the best long - term solution for it. Anyone else ever been told that they have bad posture?
  13. Don't think anyone would be majorly shocked by this.
  14. Didn't know whether to post this in here or the music thread, but for anyone who's watched a Cavs game, they sometimes play a song which is basically just all music and no lyrics for about 15-20 secs during a play, and it's an old 80's song I think, and I'm trying to figure out what the name of it is, and it's stuck in my head ATM.
  15. If there's 1 guarantee in life, it's Ed Wade overpaying for middle relievers. Happens every season.
  16. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 10, 2009 -> 10:47 AM) Not to mention a pretty damn good defense behind him. I don't think Wolf has anywhere near the season in '10 that he had in '09. This has Jeff Suppan written all over it again. I see Wolf with an ERA around 4.50 next season. But that's the price you've got to pay if you can't develop your own pitching.
  17. Robothal saying the deal could still blow up, hmmm. Boston eating all of Lowell's 12M deal though, they must have really wanted to get him, and considering they'll probably pay Beltre at least $8M, I'm not sure if designating $20M to upgrade at 3B and possibly C, was the best use of resources there. Think Texas have done well here.
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 10, 2009 -> 02:02 PM) While normally I would agree and say losing helps the Bulls now, when they are going to try to sign Wade or LeBron, and I know they are probably pipedreams, losing kills. If they won 50 games this year, they would have a better shot at those guys. They put all their eggs in this FA class's basket. Getting a guy like Joe Johnson or Boozer, while nice, isn't a huge upgrade over Ben Gordon, and that's not good enough to win. Tonight, the commentators on ESPN were ripping the Bulls effort. If Vinny can't get them to play hard, they need to find somebody who can. We have seen this kind of play before way too much IMO. The next 9 months may really determine if the Bulls remain significant in this town. I think there is a chance they could become like the Blackhawks used to be. Its amazing their ticketholders have stuck by them so long, but I really wonder how much more they will take. I think most think the Bulls should be competing for at least an Eastern Conference championship in 2010-11. What does Gar Forman do? I think Joe Johnson is incredibly underrated on this thread in particular. If he played in a big market, he'd be a bonafide star. SG's that average 21PPG, 5RB's and 5AS's, don't exactly grow on trees. And he's basically in his prime right now at 28. As for the Bulls terrible effort on their part tonight, and the blowtorch is firmly going to be locked on them going forward. When you shoot only 36% and commit 19TO's (more TO's than assists tonight, ugh), you're not going to win many games of basketball at all.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 10, 2009 -> 12:56 AM) After seeing this team under two coaches in a short period of time, it is pretty obvious it isn't the coach... This is just a dumb team, and they don't have a finisher, at all. It's interesting because coming into this season, a lot of experts had the Bulls down as the 4th or 5th seed in the East winning about 45 games as they thought the young guys would progress. And in the case of Joakin Noah, that's been right. Obviously right now the injuries to Hinrich and Thomas hurt, because the Bulls are basically playing with 6-7 effective players meaning they have no depth whatsoever. Salmons is definitely a 3, but you've got Deng there, while Gibson obviously isn't a starting caliber 4 at this point. If I'm the Bulls, in the long - term getting a top 10 pick could be a good thing in terms of adding another asset which could make it more attractive for a FA potentially. But say if I'm Dwyane Wade, I think he finds more potential in staying with Miami and getting Chris Bosh or Amare Stoudemire to come down and join him, and that would move the Heat into the real top teams in the East (and they could potentially go for another FA if they did a sign and trade with Michael Beasley which has been mooted). As for VDN, I don't rate him as a coach and put him in the bottom 5-6 in the NBA, in terms of the system that he uses and the team rules etc. that he has in place. But what coaches are out there that would replace him? Byron Scott? Lawrence Frank? Bernie Bickerstaff? Pretty slim pickings really.
  20. I would have liked if the Sox could have made the 3rd year an option somehow, but overall I don't think you can really disagree with this deal, even though I think it's doubtful whether Teahen will live up to it going forward.
  21. QUOTE (The Critic @ Dec 9, 2009 -> 07:54 AM) At least for this season I don't want them dealing Huet. I like having two strong goaltenders this year, and I'm not sold on Crawford at all as an NHL goalie. In the offseason they can try to find a taker for Huet and I'll take my chances with a slightly more battle-tested Niemi. I think a Niemi / Crawford tamden could at least develop into an average NHL goaltender compared to other NHL teams if they were given the chance. A guy like Craig Anderson who was with the Hawks a few years back is probably quite similar to Crawford, so you need to give those young guys a chance eventually. I think at the upcoming draft though, the Hawks need to use at least 1 of their 1st 2 picks on a goalie though, as it's the weakest area in the system.
  22. Well if Jenks was dealt, this guy would be a pretty decent replacement if the price was right;
