Here's Hoopsworld's preview for the Bulls for the season ahead;

Bit late to the party, but congrats are in order for Jason.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Sep 22, 2009 -> 06:35 AM) Uncharted 2 comes out in 3 weeks or so and is being billed as one of the best games in a while. Yeah definitely get Uncharted 2. Obviously Modern Warfare 2 is a must buy when it comes out next month. Batman Arkham Asylum's also pretty dang good.

QUOTE (T R U @ Sep 22, 2009 -> 06:56 PM) Yes. JD is my main reason why this season has been lost. If JD were still putting up MVP numbers in the middle of our order I think it makes big enough changes to put us in first or at least right there. We have a 4.16 team ERA Post All Star break even with Linebrink being beyond horrible. Our offensive post all star numbers aren't too bad either with AJP, Pods, Kotsay, Beckham, Ramirez, Getz, and even Konerko (.835 OPS) helping out. Dye with MVP numbers most certainly changes this teams 2nd half enough to put us there. He isnt just slumping, he has dissapeared completely and its killed us. Yeah I would probably agree with that. CQ's had a down year, but I think most of us didn't expect him to put up 2008 numbers again for us. Rios has been a major disappointment so far, although I wasn't a big fan of the deal and didn't think he would be able to turn it around offensively, at least not straight away. Dye's been the "glue" of the offense over the past 5-6 seasons. You always expected good consistent production out of him, and for the 2nd half of this season, usually the time when he heats up and really producing, it's been the exact opposite. He produces another .280/30HR season, the White Sox are probably still just in this AL Central race.
-
I'd probably pass. Yeah, Bradley could certainly turn it around and go back to the #'s he had in 2008. But would he do that in Chicago with the media on his back? And if Orlando Cabrera and Nick Swisher couldn't fit in Ozzie's clubhouse, is Miltron Bradley going to do the same? I doubt it.
-
Is Romo going out with Jessica Simpson again? He was god awful tonight. 0 sacks for our pass rush in 2 games, and our CB's were terrible. And Marion the Barbarian will be out for a few weeks with a quad strain I'd imagine.
-
The Manchester Derby was probably the best game of football I've watched for a long, long time. United won 4-3.
-
Uncharted 2 got 9.5 from IGN and a perfect 10 for graphics. The previews looked pretty sick, so glad to see it looks like it's going to live up to the hype.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 19, 2009 -> 11:58 AM) Not me. I actually prefer bobby. Somebody said that in one of the threads the other day. As do 99% of Sox fans I'm sure. It's absurd to think Pena could replace Bobby with the way he's pitching currently.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 19, 2009 -> 11:56 AM) wouldn't you love to pick up a bat and face Pena? Or would you prefer Linebrink? Some think Pena will replace Bob as our closer? Good luck to us all. Uh who suggested that? I'm sure you'd love to see it happen though greg.

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 19, 2009 -> 06:55 AM) We held the greatest offense in the history of preseason football last week didn't we? Thats the thing with having an offense (which we will) we don't need to shut down teams to beat them And you "love Bears fans sometimes hur hur hur", you should since more then half of them think the season is over already. Well that's pre-season football, not the real stuff. And obviously with the WR's the Bears have, they are a borderline top half offensive team in the NFL IMO.
-
What's the feeling of Bears' fans coming into this one with the Steelers? Is it almost getting to that "must win" stage (although it's way early in the season)? You certainly don't want to be down 2 games against Minny for instance when you haven't played them yet.

QUOTE (3E8 @ Sep 16, 2009 -> 11:29 AM) After first listen I'm quite disappointed. One of the few times the free stream online swayed me not to purchase the album. The bookends of this record, Vices and Noro, are really enjoyable. Too bad everything in the middle is forgettable Pretty much agreed. Their last album took me a while to get into, but this one I just can't say many positive things about at all. Have been enjoying the new Muse album also. Been getting some pretty good reviews.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 17, 2009 -> 11:00 PM) And for between one and three million dollars? That is a steal in this day and age. I think KW still needs to look at bringing in another cheap / veteran option though. I know Hudson's probably going to be ready next season also, but it's better to be safe than sorry. At least bring in someone on a MLC, if you can. But I agree with the sentiment that Freddy should be back, and you gotta give him credit for what he is doing, considering his lack of velocity compared to a few seasons ago.

I think he'll head back to Baltimore possibly, or an NL team.

QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Sep 17, 2009 -> 11:25 AM) So recently I got into contact on facebook with who was my best friend from about 4th grade to high school. I havent talked to him in probably 12 years and I am kinda thinkin from his FB page he is gay which surprises me a bit. I am not sure if he is and it doesnt really matter but we are supposed to hang out and I feel a little uncomfortable about it. Not that I think he would make a pass because that is stupid, but that he might feel uncomfortable cause I would pretty much make fun a gay people all the time when I was younger including my gay brother. I know it was bad, I grew up though and found out it was totally ridiculous to look at them in a bad way. Thanks to my brother. My rambling here makes me think maybe I am still a little homophobic...damnit. Here are some good questions to ask when the time comes; http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2259326122

Thought it had some interesting bits in it; On another note, how many of you want us to pick up his option for next season from what they've seen on him so far?
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 16, 2009 -> 12:47 PM) I think it has everything to do with the cold weather. Until last season, I wonder if he ever played a game below about 65 degrees. It's almost at the stage where you have to consider platooning him with a guy like Nix for the first couple of months IMO, although I think Ozzie would probably just bench him after a while as he did this season for a few games.
-
I'm more interested to see how he pitches at the Cell more than anything, even if it is only 1 or 2 starts there (just to see the flyballs / HR's he gives up etc.).

Has a KW mid-season move backfired more than Rios?
DBAHO replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 16, 2009 -> 05:26 PM) I'm not being pessimistic with this thread, per se...actually, KW's moves have normally worked out quite, well, especially over the short-term. I guess if someone wants to read into as unfairly criticizing him, that's fine. But if you look at all my posts since I've been here, I've never come close to saying he should be fired, he's stupid, he's a bad G.M., etc. That's why I started it, I couldn't remember one that almost had disastrous results. Now if we don't make any changes to the bullpen at all (besides internally), we don't have a replacement for Thome/Dye, Pods is a starter AND our leadoff hitter and our infield defense is STILL a mess in 2010...then there SHOULD be some serious questions, the same questions we were asking the first two months of the 2009 season. Because I have a feeling that the Rios and Peavy acquisitions will be used as the primary reasons why payroll can't be added...and you can put me on record as saying I'm fine with Garcia/Hynick/Torres/Hudson as our fifth starter candidates, I don't expect the type of money that we spent on the likes of Garland and Vazquez to be spent on the back end of the rotation in these days of financial austerity, as 05/06 is now well in the rearview mirror. For whatever reason, the "mix/chemistry" was never good this season, and that's ironic, because we eliminated Uribe/Crede/Vazquez/Swisher/Cabrera and also Griffey from the roster. Three of those six were "perceived" as strong leaders, Cabrera had many many fans (as many as detractors) because of his propensity for playing on winning teams...Swisher and Vazquez, their issues/problems are well-documented. With the void being left by the possible departures of Thome/Dye, with Konerko on the way out...new leaders (along with Buehrle) will have to emerge. The obvious answer is Beckham, but he can't do it all by himself. Alexei Ramirez returning to 2008 form might be the key to the whole thing, if he can get his head 100% back on baseball. With Quentin and Rios, you have no idea what you're going to get, but it's hard to count on them to put up their past "peak" numbers, that's for sure. If KW does...he will also forever become victim of the Rios "talent tease." Maybe the same will eventually be said about CQ, too. I hope not. What do you think the chances of all of that are happening? I'd say less than 2%. -
Rio's at $3.60 at my local betting agency, Chicago $1.70. Seriously considering whacking some money on Rio here, especially if Barack doesn't show. It's going to go down to the wire just like the Sydney and Beijing race for the 2000 games.

QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Sep 15, 2009 -> 06:51 AM) Iowa and Tasmania? I consider Tassie to be the equivalent of New Zealand really. The Enemy. Suppose you could say the same about Iowa though.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 15, 2009 -> 12:13 PM) And thus begin's Dick Jauron's final season as a head coach. Only 2 catches for TO also. No doubt we'll here the "give me the damn ball and we'll win" speech in the media this week.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 15, 2009 -> 12:21 AM) Rumors going around that he is strongly considering retiring because he keeps having so many injuries Thank god. He wouldn't be missed.
