Ok so you fire Ozzie, who replaces him then? Joey Cora? Would that be more of the same type of manager we've seen from Ozzie over the past few years? If anything, the blame lies with Greg Walker, and well, we've all complained about him over the years.

Man Utd. vs Arsenal was quite an entertaining match for all of the wrong reasons. Diaby scored an own goal and then Wenger got sent off at the end. Utd played terribly though, and really didn't deserve a point, let alone all 3.

Anyone ever seen Green Street before? You'd be familiar with these type of scenes then;

Hasn't exactly been a great off-season for the smallish PG's. The NY Media is reporting that the Knicks may not even sign Nate Robinson on the 1 year qualfying deal for the upcoming season because they're sick and tired of his act.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 07:31 AM) Liverpool lost to Aston Villa 3-1 today. They haven't looked good to start this season. Simply because they miss Xabi Alonso more than anything. Aquilani won't be back until October as well apparently.

So anyone watch the Miss Universe pageant (always good for a laugh). Miss Australia came 4th. She was a $3 favourite down here to win. BTW, WTF was Heidi Montag wearing in her performance? Thought it looked terrible.

Well we all knew that the season was probably going to come down to this upcoming stretch, and if anything, the Sox have probably played better against top teams than they have against your mediocre opposition. JD and PK really need to start hitting well again though ASAP.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 02:40 AM) Dye's out of the line-up today. Castro is playing, so is Lillibridge. No real suprise, subpar opposition, last game of a series at home, get JD rested as much as possible before the big games we have against the AL East.

I've been unemployed for 4 months now. Worked as an Operational Risk Specialist for Citi in NY for 12 months, and before that, worked as a Financial Analyst for Goldma Sachs for 2 and a half years. Safe to say, things are pretty bad on the job front down here ATM.

QUOTE (Tmar @ Aug 22, 2009 -> 09:26 AM) How is there not a created prospect named after me yet We did. He retired when he was 18.

Batman Arkham Asylum has been getting pretty awesome reviews. That's one game I'm really lookin forward to playing for sure.

Who here is happy Uribe's not on the team anymore?
DBAHO replied to whitesoxgt's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I am. I was probably his biggest critic over the years when he was a member of our team, just because of his offensive ability. Defensively, he was one of the better SS's we've had for sure though. -
Are we really one of the 4-5 best teams in MLB?
DBAHO replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
No, definitely not. But I think this team would certainly be dangerous in a playoff series. Being able to throw out Buerhle, Peavy and either Danks or Floyd makes this team interesting to say the least. The problem will be just getting there, considering the upcoming schedule we have especially for the rest of the month. I think offensively, this team is certainly better and more balanced than last season though. -
When the pick was made, I think many people thought it was an overdraft, but Morel's proved to be a pretty solid prospect thus far, especially with the glove. His offensive numbers at B-Ham will be very interesting to follow next season.

Happy Birthday AJ!!!

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 20, 2009 -> 06:57 AM) You've gotta be kidding me. That place is such a s*** hole. I had a bad experience there a few months ago. Safe to say the train station close to midnight when you are drunk, is not the safest place to be.

Why Tex shortened his name?

The Arsenal and Man Citeh double in the upcoming fixtures is the easiest money you'll find on the betting market this w/e. Spurs vs. West Ham on Sunday should be a good game also, hopefully we'll provide a little more competition than Hull did yesterday.

Well safe to say I don't think anyone is feeling confident going into today. But that's probably when Jose has been at his best this season, when we're not expecting much from him, and hopefully we get the good version of him today, and we get some offense besides Pods and AJ who have been really good against Grienke this season IIRC.

It all depends on what you consider "world - class" to be. I'd consider world class to basically be elite, and that means approx the top 10 players in the world. Of course none of those mentioned in Simmons' article would make it, I'd have it as this. Cristiano Ronaldo Leo Messi Kaka Fernando Torres Steven Gerrard Frank Lampard Zlatan Ibrahimovic Xavi Hernandez Frank Ribery Karim Benzema BTW Slav, I was going to put in Vidic possibly, but I think he has a weakness against speedy forwards (as Fernando Torres showed at Old Trafford last season). Sounds like he is also going to move to Barcelona at the end of the season possibly. Of the players mentioned, Howard is probably a top 10 goalie in the world, and Everton is a top 10 PL club, but he had a chance to be the #1 at Man Utd and he blew that opportunity. Donovan, well he's played at the top level in the German Leagues, but I don't think he's good enough to play for the best clubs in Europe. Onyewu is an interesting one because he didn't show much when he was on loan to Newcastle and now he's playing for AC Milan. He has the physical attributes to be a top center back in the future however. Dempsey is carving out a decent role at Fulham rotating as a winger and a second striker for Roy Hodgson. The one player I'd really take a good look at this season is Freddy Adu. Needs to show something at Benfica this season, otherwise people are going to start wondering if he can ever make it at the top level.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 19, 2009 -> 03:14 AM) And you my friend are nuts. Favre is going to be huge. And you wonder how the locker room will welcome Favre, the Viking team leaders and the Vikings have been going after Favre non-stop. It never stopped according to Mort and Glazer (per the radio interviews I heard). And that was when they were recruiting him in the first place, and then he turned them down simply because he didn't want to go through a training camp. Just reeks of hypocrisy. My point on Sage vs. Farve is this. Right now, when both are 100% healthy, Farve is clearly the better QB. But who expects Farve to be 100% healthy for the whole season and the playoffs? I certainly don't, especially when he hasn't had any surgery since the end of last season to fix the partially torn rotator cuff. I'd expect his numbers to decrease as the season goes along, just like they did with the Jets, and it'll cost the Vikings when it's all said and done.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 19, 2009 -> 10:25 AM) Another young Serbian international signs with a big club today as 21 year old Nemanja Matic joins Chelsea. Vidic, Tosic, and Ljajic at ManU, Ivanovic, Rajkovic, and now Matic at Chelsea, Milijas at Wolverhampton, Zigic at Valencia, Dragutinovic at Sevilla, Subotic at Dortmund, Stankovic at Inter, etc.... Good luck to Matic getting a game in that midfield though. My guess is he'll be loaned out somewhere to get some first team football.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 19, 2009 -> 09:05 AM) One thing is for sure here, a right hander needs to rise up from this bunch as the 8th inning guy. I like Thornton in the 8th of course, but he cant do it every time and someone is going to have to help him out there. Dotel should clearly be that guy going forward.

What would you be satisfied with out of Freddy tonight? If he could go at least 5 innings, and not give up more than 4 runs, well that at least gives us a chance.
