QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Mar 21, 2017 -> 10:55 AM) Does this mean anything re: win-now vs. win-later? Not really, right? Probably no change. Rebuild still.
-
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 21, 2017 -> 10:09 AM) Ha. Unfortunately Beckham is the only other hitting prospect the Sox have had in like 10 years, so what can you do? Ain't that the truth. Yuck
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 21, 2017 -> 09:32 AM) It's 6 years. For every guy that makes it look like the Sox walked all over them, there's 15 Gordon Beckhams or Brett Lawries. Anderson has a young family. He is no lock. Now he's set for life. Pretty easy to see why they would take it. Besides, it isn't like it is that much more he is leaving on the table. He's not even eligible for arb yet. The option years are where he really loses money if he's a star, and he still would get 8 figures a year. Even if he busts, that's not a lot of money. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 21, 2017 -> 09:49 AM) Just like the Astros GM walked all over Jon Singelton http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/astros-r...ecedented-deal/ It's still not a big deal.
-
QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 21, 2017 -> 09:25 AM) Two option years to make it over 50 mil. Even better. I seriously wonder how agents let Rick Hahn walk all over their guys. Hahn basically says "Don't bet on yourself, take money"
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 21, 2017 -> 08:50 AM) Wow, could be a steal, could be a mistake. We have no idea. If he is as good as we think he is, it will be an amazing deal. It's a steal. The mistake would be so small by comparison. Great signing. It's not an expensive contract. This is why Rick Hahn is our GM

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 20, 2017 -> 09:03 PM) Mizzou wants Tilmon/Walker. Illinois might hire La Lumiere coach and Bowen would come with but Underwood wants a coach with a longer resume because they have the biggest assistant pool in the B1G. Some pretty big names being floated for the last 2 assistant jobs. Underwood bringing 1 guy with. Walker likely to stay but not confirmed. A part of me wants them to hire whatever keeps Tilmon, but in real life if there are better options available, it might be worth doing that even if he walks. -

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Mar 19, 2017 -> 01:47 PM) I'm thinking of starting a go-fund-me to put a hit out on the singer and everyone that wrote/shot/had anything to do with the DirecTV March Madness commercials. Anyone else interested? I think it's hilarious how the Purdue guy is working a toll booth. What an insult to Boiler grads. -
The ACC is trash. 9 teams in the tournament and only 1 in the sweet 16?

Please just let Duke lose

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 19, 2017 -> 08:25 PM) Well that go out of hand quickly. I don't how the hell the review confirmed the 2nd goal, Toews looked so offsides but I'll take it. He was definitely offsides, but you take what is given to you

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Mar 19, 2017 -> 06:48 PM) But... Bust... I stand corrected. He's trash
-
QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 19, 2017 -> 06:17 PM) Wow, Moncada on fire .317/.391/.683 in the spring

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 18, 2017 -> 10:17 PM) And tonight for the ABC match up LeBron, Kyrie, and Love all rested too, Clippers win by 30 I'm becoming increasingly convinced that the league needs to cut 15 games from the season. The networks have a huge beef here. These contracts are drawn up so players play in the flexed games. Either Cut 15 games Legislate out sitting your whole team Allow the networks to last minute flex games I'm not pro-network, but sitting players for a national telecast is a complete scam.

Great hire. Retaining walker should be enough to keep Tilmon unless there's a real philosophical difference between Underwood and Tilmon (not sure that's possible) -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 17, 2017 -> 12:08 PM) I think what this thread proves is a team's PBP guy, with a few exceptions, is pretty much like the President. Half love them, half hate them. I think 10-15 years ago a lot more people liked him. It says a lot that he has long overstayed his welcome and yet garners the support he does.

It does kind of sound like TB passed. I don't think he did (i figure we would probably know), but yeah... he has since been on the show, so he is alive

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 14, 2017 -> 08:53 PM) Really hope it wasn't a tibia. If it's a Tib-Fib, he's out for the season. Hopefully not serious. Looks like they are saying "it's not serious", but to see him grabbing at his shin and unable to put any weight on the leg really wasn't pretty.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 14, 2017 -> 02:10 PM) Whitman is not f***ing around, women's basketball coach was fired today He's empowered. Things would have to go pretty badly for Whitman to have "lost" the Lovie Smith contract. -
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 14, 2017 -> 10:55 AM) Fixed again. Yeah, you got me. I don't give a f***. Let's move everybody. I'm not being sarcastic.

Move Quintana, Cabrera and leave Moncada in the minors and we're golden. As close to the bottom as I'm willing to get.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 14, 2017 -> 10:31 AM) Exactly what would you trade for Tyler Saladino? This is my thought as well. Saladino needs to play long enough to prove he's worth much of anything and then age is suddenly a bigger and bigger factor.

I wonder if Becky Hammon has any interest in coaching an NCAA mens team. -

QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 13, 2017 -> 09:31 AM) You are suggesting the TV rights wouldn't change if there was an actual team in Las Vegas? Vegas gets claimed by other markets because there is no team here. I'm not sure how one can appropriately value a Vegas baseball television market without the presence of an actual team? Nor would I suspect that the fact that other teams claim it as a market shows any pertinent information on value to that effect. TV markets do change as a part of a relocation like that, however the relocation would probably meet heavy resistance from all the markets I listed AND the markets in the AL Central. You're talking about up to 10 owners being anti-move for the White Sox. This isn't directed at iamshack (he asked a fair question), but I hate these discussions. The White Sox aren't going anywhere for a long time. They're not even close to the top candidate for relocation. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 13, 2017 -> 06:54 AM) Easy, big fella. Your signature is gold. That is all.
