Come on man. You're not serious. They should albatross their business so Eloy feels comfortable? They can pay him handsomely when it's time to pay him.
Why is this the only issue on Soxtalk where it's not okay to disagree?
Did you read the article? Did you see where he cited Ed Farmer? I mean, come on. Ed Farmer is suppose to carry water for the team that's responsible for his pay.
This may be the most captain obvious thread on this board. He doesn't play in the majors until his extra year kicks in.
The union can strike to change the rules.
You pull him up whenever it's most advantageous for the team. Call him up whenever he gets the most years under team control. Every smart team would do that.
"The thing I can't stand is people who don't agree with my assessment"
And no one else thinks this attitude is problematic?
Before I forget, this article cites posts about percentage of the league average in spending. A rebuilding team has no reason to spend money. They just don't.
While JR is mostly to blame, I do believe Rick thought his offer was the best for the team. Rick does contract negotiations extremely well. Problem is he missed badly on this one.
@SonofaRoache, if it is so hard for you, go to Footlocker and buy a Yankees hat. You have a troll handle and your posts scream PTSD or depression or both.
Do we need another thread with your bs in it?
Pecota has the Cubs winning 80-82 games next year.
Good luck with that. You had better figure out how to take this down because you're essentially done here with that post.
So why weren't six teams trying to match the Padres with such a great deal? Sorry, I don't buy it. If Jerry is cheap for offering a guy $250 million and getting outbid by only one team, that's a soft market, not a cheap owner.
It's a ton for one guy. It just is. He got what everyone said he was going to get but ONLY one team was willing to pay it. This wasn't some 10 team bidding war.
Fine: Reinsdorf is cheap, just like every other team that didn't offer Machado
