  1. Lechich got the win, and Collins went 2-3 with a HR (Avg. up to .267). http://mlb.mlb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?gi...ox&sid=l119
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 27, 2016 -> 10:06 AM) I can only imagine the amount of remediation it would take to make that area worthy for mass usage again. I can only imagine that the cost would far outpace the cost of the actual ballpark. IIRC it was an EPA Superfund site, so environmental cleanup is complete. There are many issues that keep it from being feasible, but that parcel of land is a HUGE blank canvas... imagine the ballpark and surrounding neighborhood that could be built there.
  3. QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Oct 25, 2016 -> 10:56 AM) Sure, but where on the south side would you build a stadium like that? You can't actually build on the lakefront. Let's say Hyde Park, or Kenwood, those neighborhoods would be much more like Wrigleyville. How we gonna do that? The site of the old USS South Works plant is available. Accessibility may be an issue though. http://forgottenchicago.com/articles/south-works/ http://www.nwitimes.com/business/steel/sou...fd0769ebd5.html
  4. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Oct 24, 2016 -> 11:21 PM) I still have this bad feeling about Collins. It's very early, but I'm starting to get the same feeling. Hope he proves us wrong.
  5. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 16, 2016 -> 02:53 PM) Sorry about that. We use a tool that B/R has called the Linker, where it analyzes our posts and auto-adds links to the BR pages for the player named. 95% of the time that's great. Unfortunately, it has an algorithm that sometimes gets us. In order to determine which name to use, it goes like this: 1. Major league active 2. Major league retired 3. Minor league, by random order I've pointed this out to BR as being kinda dumb. Hopefully they fix it at some point. It would make more sense if they switched 2 and 3, wouldn't it?
  6. I'm a bit of a stats junkie, so I love how whenever you mention a player, you provide a link to his BR page. However, whenever I click on Spencer Adams' name, why does it take me to the page for the Spencer Adams who played in the 1920s? Thanks.
  7. If that Crain for Arrietta trade would've gone through, I wonder if Cooper would've done as well with Jake A. as Bosio has? Nobody will ever know for sure. Just one of those random thoughts that tend to cross my mind when I can't sleep.
  8. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 11, 2016 -> 07:09 PM) That team on paper has to be the best team in franchise history. How they only managed to win 86 games is pretty amazing. That's why Jerry Manuel got fired.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 8, 2016 -> 08:03 AM) The #1 thing he should get credit for is the extremely low number of TJ surgeries in this organization. That and Matt Thornton.
  10. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 6, 2016 -> 07:52 AM) Like 3 days before the season ended, don't believe he is eligible for the playoffs Not eligible for playoff roster I'm not sure why this trade was made.
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 6, 2016 -> 08:45 AM) No place for him to play with Sandoval. Shady defense and seemed more of a doubles hitter...not quite enough power for 3rd. He was a fairly high draft pick if memory serves correct (2008, same year as Posey). He was only supposed to back up Keppinger and pinch hit here. He was a sandwich pick (37th overall) in `08. Gordon Beckham and Brett Lawrie were also first rounders that year.
  12. I still don't want him. I'm tired of this team bringing in guys in their 30s.
  13. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Oct 5, 2016 -> 01:09 PM) Honestly, who really cares? The dude played for the Nationals and was a popular player. So he's throwing out the first pitch at a game, big deal. It would be like AJ throwing out the first pitch at a Sox playoff game (if there ever is one again). Good for Adam.
  14. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Oct 4, 2016 -> 09:34 PM) Hopefully we got a good prospect to fall to us due to some teams reaching on players or not wanting to risk trying to sign some of these guys. It happened in 2010.
  15. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Oct 3, 2016 -> 01:50 PM) DH factor - 1643 games as DH, just 1061 in the OF If he would've played OF his entire career, he'd probably be in already.
  16. Robin was always one of my favorite players. I was hoping it would work out, but... no. He'd be a great ambassador for this team.
  17. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Oct 1, 2016 -> 07:54 PM) There are rumors out there stating Kenny Williams will finally step down from his post on Monday. Can this actually be true? If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
  18. Are you going to do a recap of the DSL team as well?
  19. The Sox did well on the International market in the 90s (Carlos Lee, Magglio Ordonez). Glad to see the Sox back there.
  20. QUOTE (WBWSF @ Sep 25, 2016 -> 06:39 AM) 1) Voting Kittle over Minoso was absolutely nuts. That sounds like a sentimental pick. I like the big man from Gary as much as anybody you'll find, but he has gotten more mileage out of `83 than Ozzie and Kenny have gotten out of `05.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 26, 2016 -> 12:29 PM) No baseball for 6 months gets me excited to watch meaningless for the White Sox games. Same here.
  22. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Sep 22, 2016 -> 04:38 PM) got into a fist fight with an umpire at a steakhouse. LOL. Mark Bevington also during a game.
  23. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 21, 2016 -> 11:03 AM) I think they'll hire an Hispanic that speaks Spanish. Hopefully someone with major league coaching or minor league managing experience to a 3-year deal. That's a good point. With the number of Latino players in MLB today, a bilingual manager could be a plus. Martinez and Alomar both have MLB coaching experience; and they're both outsiders who meet that "former player" prerequisite that seems to matter to this organization these days (though I could personally care less about that).
  24. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 20, 2016 -> 10:17 AM) You know, probably doesn't matter. But it seemed like the Royals all came up together as a group through the minors, winning together. That's a philosophy that the Cards use, and Twins as well. I've had the same thought. The Cubs are another prime example of this.
