The Significant Hurt - Prospect injury updates
Donaldo replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in FutureSox Board
QUOTE (ptatc @ Mar 23, 2017 -> 11:30 AM) Didn't know that Tilson had a previous stress fracture in his foot. There has to be some biomechanical issue there. Hopefully, they can figure it out. His injury history is a bit worrisome. -
QUOTE (yesterday333 @ Mar 23, 2017 -> 01:29 PM) Great article. Makes me want to keep Abreu. Seems like he could be a stabilizing influence on Moncada. The "This team gets it" line made me smile. I wonder if Abreu and or Moncada are communicating with Luis Robert?

QUOTE (ptatc @ Mar 15, 2017 -> 08:38 PM) It is a good thing but they are things that need to be kept in-house with the team. Who knows what is going to offend fans today. Most "hazing" is banned now and people could miscontrue what is happening. That's a good point. I have a vague memory about an incident several years ago (Ozzie was still manager) involving a blow up doll (or something) in the Sox clubhouse. Some people freaked out over it.

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Mar 14, 2017 -> 03:05 PM) Honestly both could. Sanchez back up infielder with leury back up infielder/outfielder. Probably still carry 4th outfielder anyway With his speed, Leury could pinch run a lot.

QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 15, 2017 -> 07:23 PM) What I like about Renteria...he seems like an authentically boring baseball guy. He knows what he wants to say, and he's not going to give media guys a canned answer that's almost expected in 2017. He's not a very exciting interview, is he? I don't understand why he sounded so secretive when asked about some of the shenanigans going on (Giolito giving acting lessons, somebody dressing up as The Undertaker). Sounds to me like they're having fun and bonding as a team... that's a GOOD thing. Most of the questions he was asked were pretty inane IMO. The only players they asked about were Giolito and Lopez. A bad interview, but... it happens sometimes.

Anybody hear Renteria on with Spiegel and Parkins today? Bad interview all around IMO.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Mar 10, 2017 -> 01:22 PM) Thank the love of god. I don't want Reinsdorf's kids anywhere near this team after seeing how Michael operates the Bulls. +1 -
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Mar 8, 2017 -> 04:56 PM) Good game for Avi, except if you are a hater I'm glad he had a good game today. I hope he eventually proves us all wrong. But it's only Spring Training.

QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Feb 24, 2017 -> 07:12 PM) Friday Fung though is fun I was never a huge B&B fan, but Friday Fung was must listen radio for me. I was reading the chicagofanatics message boards the other day. McNeil posts there on occasion, and he had an interesting observation about the new generation of sports talk hosts. Mac feels they think their purpose is to educate rather than entertain. Can't disagree with that although I think "Can't Do It" (Spiegel and Parkins) is a fun listen.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 3, 2017 -> 03:46 PM) Scott MerkinVerified account @scottmerkin 2h2 hours ago Reading between the lines, it sounds as if Yolmer Sanchez and Leury Garcia have good chances to break camp with this team. Just can't get used to calling him "Yolmer."

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 3, 2017 -> 09:43 AM) It stinks because WYC was a fun segment, but that was Terry's baby, it came from his famous interview with Ditka. To continue it without him would be bad form. Goff and Bernstein need to find their own segments, and they will They don't do Friday Fung anymore either. Will there be a Tournament of Bad this year? Spiegel and Mannely/Goff/Parkins kept Over Unders, and that was a McNeil creation.

Assessing the White Sox Future and Hawk's Announcing Future

QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 10, 2016 -> 04:31 PM) Benetti doing the Duke/UNLV game with Vitale. And yes, he's asking Vitale a million questions. He recently did the Iowa/Indiana game with Dan Dakich. He asked a bunch of very good questions as well. He and Dakich worked VERY well together IMO. -
QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Feb 17, 2017 -> 07:24 PM) Mark Gonzales told me the perfect Swisher story. When he was struggling in the second half with the Sox and Ken Griffey Jr. tried to help him around the batting cage, he blew him off. Ken Griffey... Mark I think it was Silvy on ESPN 1000 who once shared the following anecdote: The Sox were flying somewhere before ST started in `08. Swisher thought it would be cute to go surfing down the aisle as the plane was taking off (whatever that means) The plane is taking off, and Nick is making a complete ass of himself ("SWISH-A-LICIOUS BABY') AJ turned to the person sitting next to him and says "I hate this guy already."

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 3, 2017 -> 09:43 AM) It stinks because WYC was a fun segment, but that was Terry's baby, it came from his famous interview with Ditka. To continue it without him would be bad form. IIRC, the segment dates back to the Heavy Fuel Crew days. Bernstein was part of it for 17 years. I'd be cool with keeping it to honor Boers QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Feb 8, 2017 -> 02:39 AM) CTE, Dementia, along with depression and other things. But the main issue seems to be dementia. Showed that he has to walk around with a fanny pack that contains his ID, wallet, keys, and phone in case he gets lost and forgets what he's doing.`It was a pretty sad interview. Stan Mikita has dementia. He has zero recollection of his playing days. He's in excellent health/physical shape, but mentally, he's gone. VERY sad.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 10, 2017 -> 10:13 AM) If T.O. can't get into the Pro Football HOF because of sanctimonious asshole writers, then they should shut the HOF down. Jurko had a rant on this subject today. HE WAS FURIOUS. I love that kind of passion.

I don't know much about the guys who made this list (track record, accuracy, etc.), but lists like these are interesting to look at. #6. Moncada #12. Giolito #26. Kopech #50. Lopez #79. Fulmer #83. Collins #98. Hansen Scout.com Top 100 for 2017

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Feb 8, 2017 -> 09:25 PM) In travel baseball this is how they break ties in tournaments. Put a man on second. They also make it 1 out with 1-1 on every hitter. California rules. It sucks. It makes sense to do something drastic like that in a tournament situation where you have 5 or 6 games being played on the same field in one day, but it's asinine to do it in MLB. When I was a kid, my sister played in a softball tournament. One day, a couple of the early games went long, and there was a weather delay. Her game didn't start until after Midnight. There IS a time and a place for a rule like this.

How many fans are in attendance?

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jan 26, 2017 -> 02:38 PM) While that is an obvious statement, I think he meant to include that he will likely go before the season starts. That's how I interpreted it anyway. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but the fact that Q will be at SoxFest has me thinking he'll be with the team on Opening Day. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jan 26, 2017 -> 02:54 PM) You might be the winner with that number. I am going with 25-30 before someone posts another rumor I'll take the over.
-
QUOTE (3GamesToLove @ Jan 10, 2017 -> 01:28 PM) I've never done Soxfest. Me neither, but I DID attend the "Winter Warm Up" in 1995 when the strike was still on.

QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Jan 17, 2017 -> 09:15 PM) If a Q trade went through, the afternoon show would give it a good deal of coverage. I don't expect a lot from the midday show, honestly. I tend to have meetings during that time. I think Goff is a Sox fan.

What low-key Sox prospect are you most excited to get a chance

QUOTE (southside hitman @ Jan 6, 2017 -> 06:19 PM) Good post. I know you guys like Eddy, but Adam Engel is a no-brainer for me here. He is a freak athlete and has extremely loud tools who has shown he is capable of putting it all together in short bursts (2015 AFL MVP). The White Sox played with his pre-swing mechanics last season and it kind of set his production back, but he has an extremely high ceiling if it clicks for him. My interview with video is below if you want to check it out. http://www.chicagonow.com/future-sox/2016/...iew-and-videos/ How is his defense? Would he be a good replacement for Eaton? Matt Cooper is another guy who intrigues me. -
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 19, 2017 -> 11:39 AM) he is in the hall of very good, not the Hall of Fame +1

QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jan 18, 2017 -> 05:34 PM) No White Sox in the bottom 10. Sure is nice to finally see that.
