  1. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 09:40 PM) I don't understand anyone's anger at the direction we are taking. We are finally doing something with a distinct plan. It finally appears we aren't half assing something. To look at the 2017 roster and throw your arms in the air is just absurd at this point in time. They actually are doing something with a plan. None of us know if it will work, but at least they have a concrete plan that they are operating towards vs. these half ass cockamamie schemes. I LOVE what I've seen this past week. However, this team desperately needs quality position players.
  2. QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 11:24 AM) The Sox have never done a full tear down and rebuild in the time I've been a Sox fan (early 90s as a kid) and while there has been an obvious, overt resistance to the idea from Reinsdorf and Kenny Williams, I always sensed from other Sox fans that they felt the fanbase wouldn't want to bother with it either. But so far in the past 48 hours I've seen mostly excitement, people are ready to get this started and see it through properly. What do y'all think? Am I off base here? The last total rebuild took place in the late 80s (you're lucky you missed `86-`89). Those four seasons of misery yielded four great draft picks (McDowell, Ventura, Thomas, Fernandez). Trades for guys like Lance Johnson, Wilson Alvarez, Keith Foulke, and Paul Konerko, plus a strong farm system (drafting and International signings) made the Sox the winningest team in the AL in the 1990s. Somebody on ESPN 1000 (I forget who) said they haven't heard this much excitement from Sox fans in at least a decade.
  3. I love this trade, but I think we've acquired enough pitching. We need more position players.
  4. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 02:11 PM) I'll be honest....I'm kind of pissed we haven't made anymore deals yet. Me too, but it's still early.
  5. QUOTE (Real @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 06:59 PM) Most Red Sox fans calling into this weei radio show saying they can't believe this is all they had to give up Yet many other Red Sox fans think they just overpaid for a crybaby. Everybody's got an opinion. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 07:05 PM) Born May 27, 1968: Frank Thomas Born May 27, 1995: Yoan Moncada
  6. Chris Sale's trade value will never be any higher than it is right now. With his mechanics, I'm amazed that he's made it this far without suffering a major injury. Buy low, SELL HIGH!
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 28, 2016 -> 03:23 PM) Chris Cotillo ‏@ChrisCotillo 2h2 hours ago One prominent agent over the weekend: "Everything has shut down because of the CBA negotiations." #HotStove It does seem awful quiet this year.
  8. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 01:12 PM) Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 2m2 minutes ago Sources: Cespedes back to #Mets. Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 24s24 seconds ago Sources: Cespedes deal expected to be four year, $110M. Hopefully this will put an end to the Cespedes talk here once and for all.
  9. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 05:48 PM) I still don't know how they got Addison Russell and Jake Arrieta. for dregach. They got Addison Russell because Billy Beane was desperate at the trade deadline. They got Jake Arrietta because Jesse Crain failed a physical.
  10. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 01:57 PM) The Cubs success doesn't hurt the Sox. The Sox inability to put a winning product on the field hurts the Sox. +1 QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 01:58 PM) This is a terrible opinion. The Sox shouldn't care that the Cubs won the World Series. They should care that somebody other than them did. +1 This refusal to trade with the Cubs comes off as a childish temper tantrum that's almost as embarrassing as it is immature. IMO, it's just further proof that changes have to be made in the front office pronto. The Cubs have a pretty deep farm system. If they're willing to trade us multiple quality position players for Chris Sale (who only plays once every five days), take it! The Cubs don't need our help to win. If anything, WE need THEIRS.
  11. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Nov 22, 2016 -> 11:42 AM) Plus Quintana isn't going to be slicing up uniforms in your locker room. My thoughts EXACTLY.
  12. QUOTE (Sockin @ Nov 18, 2016 -> 04:34 PM) FWIW Todd has been vocal today about the Sox direction. He was on Casey Stern'a show today saying he thinks the Sox are close to intending and you can't trade a guy like Sale. He also has retweeted someone saying the Sox need to keep and extend Frazier. I like Frazier and fully respect his opinion, but he's delusional if he actually believes what he's saying.
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 20, 2016 -> 08:25 AM) Here is a Rick Hahn quote that contradicts the thread title. He really would have no reason to lie. http://m.whitesox.mlb.com/news/article/208...chable-players/ Kenny will probably say something in a few days that will contradict Hahn here. QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Nov 20, 2016 -> 09:50 AM) I still do not believe the Chairman is going to allow a rebuild. Sale might be traded, but then we are going to be told that the Sox are in a much better position to compete now with the players Hahn gets in return. I truly believe this is a smoke screen. I'm really starting to believe that Sale will NOT be traded. They've probably set the asking price so ridiculously high (like asking $1,000,000 for a house that's only worth $100,000) that nobody will be willing to give up that many players. That way they can say "but we tried to trade him." I'm sick of this front office.
  14. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 13, 2016 -> 06:17 PM) Then hold onto him and hope he rebuilds his value by the deadline. Absolutely. If he can be serviceable in 2017, some desperate GM will gladly overpay for him in July.
  15. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 04:13 PM) I like this post. Of course I'll be sad once it happens, but the level of sadness depends on who the Sox get in return. If the Sox get Benintendi and several other good prospects? I'll only be a little upset. If the Sox don't get a blue chip prospect at all? I'll be very, very sad. Same here. I'm generally indifferent to the idea of him leaving. If the return is good, I'll be happy, but if I don't like what we get for him, I'll be ANGRY, not sad.
  16. Cashman just picked up several top prospects at the deadline. If he's willing to give up some of that talent for an aging headcase with questionable mechanics, that's fine by me.
  17. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Nov 16, 2016 -> 07:06 PM) This should be Hahn's show anyway. +1
  18. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 04:32 PM) Unless the return was significant, he wouldn't be high on my list of guys to move. Boston needs a DH. For the right prospect, I'd trade him in a heartbeat. At 30, his best years are probably NOT ahead of him.
  19. QUOTE (InTheDriversSeat @ Feb 17, 2016 -> 01:17 PM) Does anybody know what direction the football field went when the Chicago Cardinals played at Comiskey Park? Was the field parallel to the 3rd base line / Shields Avenue, or was the field parallel to the 1st base line / 35th Street? North-South...parallel to 3rd base line. QUOTE (InTheDriversSeat @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 05:30 PM) Plenty of tickets remain, however estimated attendance at the time this special event was announced was 15,000 - 25,000 fans. Looks like fewer than 10,000 people actually showed up. Jason Benetti doing play-by-play for ESPN.
  20. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 12:09 AM) And his brother Nick even better! Jeff Hostetler is the former NFL QB. Whoops.
  21. QUOTE (Dunt @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 10:43 AM) Pretty discouraging that 1/2 of our top 10 list comes from the 2016 draft. It makes Jeff Hostetler look good. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 01:51 PM) Amado Nunez. Possibly Adam Engel or Micker Adolfo. As I said, not a BIG gap there for me. Based on what little I know, I think Eddy Alvarez could be a Top 10 as well. Others have Tilson at or about #5, but it's all subjective.
  22. He'll be 26 next season. One has to wonder how many more chances he's going to get.
  23. I know a lot of long suffering Cub fans, and I am genuinely happy for them. Like many other Sox fans, I don't hate the Cubs. I only root against them 4 or 6 days a year. I guess I'm happy for them too.
  24. QUOTE (SonofaRoache @ Nov 4, 2016 -> 09:00 AM) They are going to rebuild and try to contend at the same time. If you try to rebuild and contend at the same time, you will fail at both. In other words, that's EXACTLY what I expect out of this front office.
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 3, 2016 -> 01:36 PM) I keep expecting him to walk away for another job at some point. I'm praying for it.
