QUOTE (shipps @ Nov 30, 2017 -> 12:42 PM) I have finally stopped listening to Goff and Bernstein. Its not that I disagree with any of their political stances that they take on the show. I support most if not all that they are typically trying to bring to the forefront. Its just that their show is no fun, like whatsoever. The issues that they try to address on a daily basis I actually support them on and I am not even suggesting they stop fighting the good fight on air. If they feel personally that they need to use their job as a platform to shed light to any social injustices then the more power to them. I just find no entertainment value to their show at all. Anthony Herron was hosting with Bernsie today. All the talk I heard was sports and guy talk. It was entertaining as hell; some of the best I've ever heard from Bernstein. Anybody hear "Danny Mac on Sports?" They're Webb Ford commercials disguised as a Dan McNeil sports minute. MUCH better than the CBS Sports Minute things they have to play several times a day.

QUOTE (Quin @ Dec 15, 2017 -> 04:31 PM) All I remember about Shingo was the awesome gong intro. The "frisbee." IIRC, Shingo just plain forgot how to throw a strike.

QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 4, 2017 -> 12:55 PM) The perfect team would have been Oakland. I'm thinking Seattle.. that city has a large Japanese population, and a favorable climate (he hates heat).

Marlins let go of scout needing a transplant

If the guy sucks at his job (or has done something to really deserve to be fired), then he should get canned PERIOD. We don't know the whole story here. That being said, the timing of this makes it a PR disaster... worse than when John Paxson fired Scott Skiles on Christmas Eve. -
Sign-and-flip? Castillo should fetch a quality prospect or two at the deadline.

Will Matt Cooper be back in 2018?

QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Oct 28, 2017 -> 02:53 PM) There's something about the swearing on podcasts that throws me off a little when the host or guests are radio guys. It seems so unnatural because they have to filter it out on radio. It seems like they force it on podcasts. Parkins is did quite a bit of swearing. I did like his honesty about the culture of Chicago radio, though. I've read several of McNeil's posts on the chicagofanatics message board and believe me, there is NOTHING "forced" about his extensive use of expletives. Mac is the kind of guy who makes censors earn their paycheck.

QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 6, 2017 -> 10:11 AM) And I am not a Bennetti hater! But there are too often times where him and stone are having a painfully unfunny back and forth and you can tell they are thinking "look how funny we are!" Sometimes they ARE funny, but much of the time... not so much. Benetti did the Purdue-Minnesota game a few weeks ago, and he was pretty good. Minnesota's Quarterback that game was a kid named Conor Rhoda, and I was expecting a crack about "another Rhoda in Minneapolis," but no. ***For those of you unfamiliar with 1970s sitcoms, Rhoda Morgenstern (played by Valerie Harper) was a character on the Mary Tyler Moore show, which took place in Minneapolis.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Nov 1, 2017 -> 08:49 PM) McCullers actually pitched worse than Darvish, he just got super lucky. Darvish was tipping his pitches. Yu Darvish may have been tipping his pitches in nightmare World Series performance QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Nov 1, 2017 -> 11:06 PM) Happy for the Astros, they did it the right way. Good drafting, good scouting, and timely trades. Glad to see the Astros win it all for the very first time (at somebody else's expense, NOT ours ). Remember, the Astros completely whiffed on two consecutive #1 overall draft picks (Appel, Aiken). This just proves that not all top prospects pan out. That's why you have to bulkload prospects during a rebuild (like Hahn is doing).

QUOTE (SCCWS @ Oct 25, 2017 -> 07:09 AM) I saw where he is one possibility as a bench coach. But I would guess that job should go to an experienced manager type. What has Joey been doing lately? Geoff Blum was on Waddle and Silvy today, and he spoke very highly of Joey, Ozzie, and the rest of the `05 coaching staff.

Do the Sox own any of their minor league affiliates?
Donaldo replied to nickofypres's topic in FutureSox Board
QUOTE (GenericUserName @ Oct 12, 2017 -> 05:20 PM) I lived in South Bend for a couple years and when the local minor league team became an affiliate of the Cubs, a lot of locals became Cubs fans because they had a team they could both watch on TV and watch players who may one day make it there or big league guys on rehab assignment. The South Bend Silver Hawks were a White Sox affiliate back in the 90s. -

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Oct 14, 2017 -> 09:06 AM) It'd be pretty awesome if we had a team in Rosemont and/or Schaumburg I thought there was also an Independent minor league team in Gurnee at one time. I know there's a team in Gary. -

Wonder if he'll hire his brother as a coach?

QUOTE (Donaldo @ Oct 23, 2017 -> 06:50 PM) The last two times the Sox played in the World Series, their opponents were the Astros (`05) and the Dodgers (`59). The Astros have to be the only team in MLB history to play in the World Series as both an AL team and an NL team, right?

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 24, 2017 -> 10:29 PM) Is there history on the History Channel anymore? Most educational channels have turned into reality TV. "The Road to 9/11" was an excellent historical documentary.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 25, 2017 -> 09:57 AM) According to his facebook page he is now selling Fords as well. That pretty much answers my question. Podcasting doesn't pay the bills. For your viewing pleasure, here are the two commercials Mac made for Webb Ford back in the 90s. These got much airplay on Northwest Indiana cable. I remember them well.
