Hmm, do we have scouts in the Dominican Republic or what? If fricken Cincinnati is capable of developing this type of arm there should be no excuse for our lack of results. It'd only be appropriate if DLS turns into a comparable pitcher............for Oakland.

Wow, there's a name I haven't seen for quite awhile. What the hell has he been up to? Happy B-Day, anyways.

Can someone give a scouting report on Nick Blackburn, whether from yesterday's game or a website? Nothing special from his minor league statistics. I'll f***ing lose it if he pitches well in the majors.

Why doesn't someone tell Joe the objective of baseball is to elevate the ball within 100 ft of homeplate? Maybe then he'd naturally go against it and become a good hitter. -

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 08:55 PM) On another none, where is our Fausto Carmona? And where was Fausto Carmona when the Indians needed him to close out the ALCS? Haha Our Fausto Carmona is in the Dominican Republic being scouted by other teams. Who needs a 16-1 G:F ratio, anyways? -

QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 08:45 PM) oh no, the Sky is falling! the sky is falling! settle down everybody. the season is almost 1/81 complete. my gosh! Personally, I don't believe they're going anywhere this season. They could have won both games with a combined score of 100-0 or lost 100-0 and it wouldn't have changed anything. I doubt the opinions of many others have changed. However, you have to admit -- if you're an optimistic type of person -- that back to back starts such as we've seen with Buehrle and Vazquez cannot happen EVER if we're going to compete. We need consistency out of those two considering the starters who fall behind them. One can fall, but both falling -- and in a limited amount of innings -- is unacceptable. -

CHOKE CREDE!!!!!!! If only popups were the same as homeruns. -
GT gave a friendly reminder, and I'm going to give the unfriendly reminder -- none of you have any obligations tomorrow. People just hate all of you and talk crap behind your backs. Your jobs are pointless and the classes which conflict with the game will only end in a failing grade, anyways. Your only friends are in the chatroom. We accept your many....many faults.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Mar 27, 2008 -> 06:27 PM) There is no hope for Oney and if I was a deserving minor leaguer like Jason Boosh-wahh, I'd be pissed off I'm still not in camp, hanging out and partying with the big boys. Oney Guillen = Van Wilder, Tommy Boy, Billy Madison and a s***ty ballplayer rolled up into one. Atleast Ozney has used his father's position to service the world as a translator and (I have no idea if it's still on) co-host of a Spanish baseball radio show. Oney went to UIC for his first several years, and although I didn't know him personally, several of my friends on the baseball team did and mentioning the names Van Wilder and Tommy Boy is fairly accurate.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 27, 2008 -> 03:20 PM) Has Nick settled down any more these last couple innings? Gameday must be a bit behind. Masset's control slipped (even more than usual) after a line drive hit him off the forearm. He already gave up a 2R HR to Jackson before being replaced by Thornton.

Seven errors these last two games. That's good, right?

18 y/o dies on Operating Table during breast enlargement
Flash Tizzle replied to Brian's topic in SLaM
This is why anesthesiologists are paid the big bucks. When you're put under, you're essentially in a controlled coma. For all the surgeries/procedures which happen ever day using anesthesia, this is obviously a rarity. I just know I've never been comfortable with it. When I had my wisdom teeth pulled several years ago, I neglected to use local anesthesia and underwent the most painful moment of my life. It was excruciating, even with novocaine. The reason I avoided it was several years earlier, when I had broken my hand playing football and had to have several bones realligned, I was put under and felt terrible for several days afterwards. Headache, vomiting, feeling extremely weak. The head physician believed my body simply didn't respond well to it. Most people don't, which is why I'll always avoid anesthesia if at all possible. -
QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Mar 24, 2008 -> 06:24 PM) These threads have been around before and I made one nearly 4 years ago as an 18 year old. The advice really helped then, but now as a 22 year old, it seems I still am clueless with the female sex. When I was a senior in high school there was a freshman girl that liked me a lot. She was borderline obsessed about me which I didn't like, but liked at the same time. I didn't want to get involved with her because I thought 18 and 15 was too big of a difference even though I thought there was a possiblility that something great could come out of it. Then not too long after I graduated she started dating a guy and I was angry at myself for not trying to take our friendship to the next level. I grew to accept not being in a relationship with her and I got in to a few of my own over the next 3 years, but she was always on my mind. I didn't talk to her very much after I graduated from high school. Maybe a few times a year in 2005 and 2006. In 2007 I didn't talk to her a lot, but started talking to her more once the school year started and she had gone off to college. Eventually and her and her boyfriend broke up in November and a month later I decided to send her a message about how I felt about her. It ended up being a big mistake and I regret sending it because it freaked her that I could still like her for this long. She said she didn't understand how I could since we rarely talked anymore and didn't know each other. Unfortunately for me she said she didn't have any feelings for me and was "unsure" if she ever did. When January and February came, we started talking more frequently, maybe once a week or so. When spring break started she wanted to know if we were going to hangout at all over break, since we had talked about it a couple of times in January. I was surprised she sent me a message and we ended up having a group outing last Wednesday. It was fun to hangout because that was the first time we've hungout before, we had talked at school and at graduation parties over the past couple of years but hanging out. The bad part seemed to be that I could tell she didn't have feelings for me anymore, at least she didn't act like she did. After that long story, what I'd like to know is if I should give up thinking of a relationship or not. It's so hard for me to give up after all of this progression over the last few months. I know I want a relationship with this girl not because of her looks, she's a nice looking girl, but I want it because of her personality, her values, and she's just a goofball which I really like in her. It seems to be as if she only wants to be friends instead. But I know if I keep trying and hoping for a relationship I'll more than likely hurt myself. I was a fool for not trying for her 4 years ago, it looks like if I keep trying for her now I could be a fool again. We also go to different schools, she goes to Iowa State and I go to Northern Iowa. Thanks for reading. The sad truth here is you can't manufacture romance. Especially if close contact isn't maintained. Perhaps meeting you for the first time in a social setting was awkward. It may change in the future, who knows? What'd I do is avoid any mention of your feelings (as several others have noted) and work towards bulding a friendship. Even if that makes you feel like a pussy. Just ask yourself this-- who is going to decide whether a relationship exists? Her. You don't hold any advantage here since you've essentially played your cards. She's going to hold your balls anyway you look at it. Would you want her in your life, even if it's just as a friend, or risk everything playing games in a vein attempt for her to open herself up to you? Honestly, I'd say it's going to be tough. Especially since the mutual attraction noted by you occured in high school, when she was only 15 years old, and contact was sparse since graduation.

Son of a b****. Does anyone know if this is a one or tour hour finale? I watched the most recent episode several days ago and, until now, thought it was possible the show would be extended. I know the sentimental moments with Ulrich's character being interrogated and visited by people in his life is reminiscent of those shows where past characters all seem to make appearances; but the ending with Cheyenne, to me, seemed difficult to wrap up quickly. Just think about it -- somehow Jake and Hawkins are going to avoid capture while traveling to Wyoming, locate the bomb, and disarm or remove it before being captured in ONE episode? Maybe that doesn't happen, who knows. I think it'd be great if the government came though with their wishes and detonated the bomb. No one would expect that ending. Also, what happens with Jericho? It'd be ridiculous to just end it permanently without indicating whether or not the town is ready to move on. You can't cover every character, obviously, but atleast have some closure.

QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Mar 19, 2008 -> 03:58 PM) anyone else think the way last episode ended that this show is headed towards being wrapped up next week? I missed it and am waiting for On Demand to have it available. How was it?

QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Mar 19, 2008 -> 04:41 PM) Toby Hall batting an impressive .000 I wonder if one of the younger catchers could hit better than that during the season. I don't know why Hall just didn't undergo surgery last June when it was obvious we weren't in contention. He'd atleast be back around now, or somewhere close without a gimp shoulder. -
QUOTE(JFields27 @ Mar 19, 2008 -> 04:33 PM) Crede needs to be gone, cant say that anymore then I have in the past -- Just get it down Kenny Is this you Josh, posting from the clubhouse? Although you are right, anyways.

Masset sure delivered a fat fastball right there. 4-2 Colorado. This is pure Nick Masset today. Crap control, a few groundballs, runs crossing the plate. -
QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Mar 19, 2008 -> 03:29 PM) Flash, what offers have you heard for Roberts? I really haven't heard any other than the Cubs rumored one. I haven't heard any if they're out there. I was basing my post on the same Cubs rumor you read. To beat theirs, Jenks, Danks or Fields would have to be the centerpiece of any deal. Personally, I'd rather accept whatever Richar/Ramirez give us than trade for Roberts.

QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Mar 19, 2008 -> 03:25 PM) I see your point, but it's possible that the Sox just flat out realized they made a mistake in resigning Uribe and instead of compounding the mistake they are just cutting bait and bailing I commend them for it. Easier to make room for Uribe than designate him for assignment. Atleast from a perspective of Williams swallowing his pride. I would say Uribe at second base atleast made a bit of sense, considering the relative inexperience of Ramirez and Richar. Next step is trading Crede.
