4/26 Doubleheader Thread: Sox vs Orioles CSN, WGN
Flash Tizzle replied to knightni's topic in 2008 Season in Review
I love DJ talking about how Traschel has movement on his pitches. Yeah, at 84 mph. If we score less than 5 runs off this bum it's a failure for the offense. -
4/24 Gamethread: Sox (11-9) vs Yankees (12-10), 7:11 WGN

Remember when Jenks used to throw 99 mph? Wasn't too long ago. -
Get your asses in here. It's a Thursday night and none of you have any friends, anyways. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?autocom=chat

We discussed this in chat, briefly. I'll admit last weeks was good -- definitely the best of the season thus far -- but South Park still has been a disappointment for quite awhile. I went to southparkstudios.com and browsed through the first seven episodes of each season, and this season is among the worst. Atleast from my perspective. If I had to pinpoint a moment where South Park jumped the shark, it would have to be their Imagination Trilogy late last season. You could have reasonably fit everything into two episodes. Parker/Stone just thought, hey, we don't have anything good to write about so lets push this out to three episodes.

White Sox vs. Yankees, 4/23, 7:11, ESPN

This is utterly pathetic. We can't seem to hit 92 mph Moose or 85mhp Moose. -
QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 05:42 PM) I wonder how they justify the aftershocks... Or the absence of radiation.

I had already been up (late night drinking) and immediately knew it was an earthquake. While I live next to the street, and trucks may occasionally shake objects, it was definitely different this time. A little stronger. My dog immediately jumped up from the ground and ran upstairs. That was one clue. Another was the duration -- about 5 seconds. It should be fun watching local news reports reference the New Madrid fault while reminding people how f***ed those around Missouri/Tennessee/Kentucky/S.Illinois will be when the big one hits!

Cougar shot and killed within Chicago city limits
Flash Tizzle replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in SLaM
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 15, 2008 -> 04:21 PM) If you saw an 150 lb cougar in front of you in the street, I would say the odds of you crapping your pants are at least 60 percent. Those things could tear you up quickly and move on to the next kill. I saw people were really upset that the cops shot the animal. Honestly, an animal like that in a residential area should be shot on sight. Fox News previewed the story and featured, what sounded to be, a home made video of the shooting. I didn't catch what was on the video but heard gunshots and turned around just in time to view a helicopter filming the cougar laying dead on the pavement. Immediately afterwards a lady, who could have been a bystander, said it was unnecessary to shot the animal. I find it ridiculous how anyone can fault these officers. I agree that killing it shouldn't have been a top priority, but unless tranquilizers were readily available then they did what was necessary. It's not as if there's a section on handling cougars in the Chicago police manual. Sure, racoons and perhaps wolves; animals with nowhere near the strength or speed of a cougar. Imagine what would have happened if they tried to wait until someone arrived to sedate the animal and it injured/killed someone? Or escaped from their sights? I'd rather shot the animal, even if it poses no harm, then take any chances. What's anyone going to do about it, sue me? This isn't like California where we're encroaching on their territory and they're expanding their hunting zone to make up for lost space. It traveled well out of its natural habitat. And if it were a pet, then its better off dead anyways since it'd be useless in the wild. -
QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ Apr 14, 2008 -> 09:18 PM) I am turning 21 this Thursday! I need some suggestions for a some nice spots to go to. I live in the south side 'burbs. What are some good places to go to downtown? If you plan on doing something Thursday it'd probably be better to stay around the south side. I don't know where this suburb is you're from, but you could try the typical, well known hangouts -- Bourbon St (~115th and Kedzie) or Cork and Kerrys (105th and Western). I enjoy Quigleys off 111th and Pulaski. Further south you couldn't go wrong with any of the bars along Oak Park Ave. in Tinley. And it's within walking distance of the Rock Island metra station.

4/14 Gamethread: Sox (7-4) vs. Oakland (8-5); 7:11, CSN

Nice, now we all the sudden can't hit a Huston Stree with 4mph off his fastball. When did his slider become the most devastating single pitch in the history of baseball. Jesus. -

WHAT IS SO DIFFICULT ABOUT SMITH? I just don't understand. Seriously. Does he have superior control or above average "stuff"? No. He's made quite a few mistakes on changeups and fastballs right down the middle. His motion shouldn't be an issue either after the third time around. -

Watching Smith escape inning after inning is now becoming annoying. Its almost as if you know they're going to break out at some point, but just wonder whether Oakland will remove him by then or we'll continue to screw ourselves. -

I'll refuse to compliment Smith if he continues to shut out our club. Limited movement on his fastball, not much speed variation between changeup and fastball. He should be in the minors by next month. What we're seeing here is what I expect to see. Hard hit balls once we realize this guy is a bum. -

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 14, 2008 -> 12:22 AM) Went to the Giants/Cards game today. I would kill for Lincecum to be in a Sox uniform. We'll have an opportunity in June to draft our Lincecum.

Has anyone else aside from myself never sneezed more than one time in a row? It's always one and done with me. This is something I first noticed a long time ago, but it wasn't until today that I was reminded.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 13, 2008 -> 12:33 AM) So school was canceled for Monday due to bomb threats. Weird. More than likely Brother Rice administrators are covering their own asses and taking action because of the vague threats which canceled St. Xavier's classes next week. If some outlandish scenario occured where whatever happened at SXU spilled onto Brother Rice there would definitely be some angry people wondering why nothing was done prior to address the problem. As unfair as it would be, you know it'd happen. Canceling classes doesn't solve an isolated issue involving a separate school, obviously, but it atleast proves to people -- in the event of an emergency -- that the were concerned about your safety.

Yesterday when I was browsing several comedy lists I couldn't help notice The Graduate continually mentioned. What exactly makes that movie a comedy? There sure weren't many comedic moments.

One and only one kind of pizza -- JACKS. Typically half sausage, half pepperoni. I'm sure there are better, but my mom has bought this pizza for years and I've grown accustomed to it.
-
Just my opinion, but I think you should limit it down to Top 10. It's difficult, for me atleast, to think about my Top 20 comedies without doing research and actually putting effort into it. Sure, the lists will be more extensive; but far fewer will casually browse this thread and add their input.

When I clicked on the link I had it open in another tab, and thought for a minute (I was walking across the room and didn't have the picture in front of me), that Steff had a photo gallery of her and her kid set to "Never Gonna Give You Up." haha.

I miss Nuke's post game threads. lol. Great game all around. I don't know if we'll ever have a game against Neshek like this again.
