My/Your Off Season Plan
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 12:45 PM) Samardjiza won't be nearly that bad next year. 2015 was a fluke based mostly off of bad defense. That's fine, and he can have his rebound season in the National League. He's not needed back here.

My/Your Off Season Plan
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 10:58 AM) If you are that worried about Erik Johnson, you are overrating him., We'll need a replacement for Danks, eventually. I'd prefer a full year of starts (hopefully 180-200 innings) to judge whether or not he'll be a suitable replacement, which I believe he will be. EJ has had a solid minor league career and if nothing else, will be a cheap solution at the back end of the rotation. He has more value than many here think. He'll never be a centerpiece of any significant deal. However, if we're trading EJ, we damn well better receive a replacement level player at one of our black holes. It should be someone also low on service time and whom we're able to plug in 3B, SS, 2B for cheap.

My/Your Off Season Plan
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 10:17 AM) I'd actually be fine with it. You'd be fine with delaying the development of Johnson and effectively limiting one, maybe two, FA signings? We'd all but have to trade Quintana.

Levine Article: Sox Rebuilding
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 11, 2015 -> 01:31 PM) Re-reading the article I think he is obviously trying to put things into perspective. All of these other teams that people want to emulate took between 5 and 10 years of being awful to get to where they are now. The Sox are trying to speed that time line up. He is trying to realign expectations a bit, but still send the message that they aren't punting for a half of a decade. At no point does he say they are starting a new rebuild, only continuing what they started a few years back. It's time to speed things up quite a bit, we've completed our 7th straight season without a playoff appearance. What we're doing isn't working, obviously. And what's maddening is NO ONE has learned anything. I wish we would f***ing rebuild, not "on the fly" but a FULL rebuild. Will it work? Who knows, but I'd atleast like a comparison to draw off of. I have years of evidence that suggests the current group and their philosophies for constructing ballclubs has been disasterous Just look at Minnesota. Last playoff appearance in 2010, god awful for a few years, now come 2016 better positioned to compete. That's honestly how we should go about it. We're well behind KC and no better than Cleveland. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if come 2020 Detroit makes it back to the playoffs before us. Otherwise, we should atleast be critical of Hahn as fans and start putting high expectations on him to turn this around immediately. We need to stop shoulder shurgging mediocrity. Every move has to work; every trade, every signing, everything. Why bother going through another 2015 season in 2016? We know the problems, now Hahn has to address them

Sox to go trade route possibly
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 08:00 AM) Hmm sure seems like a strange way to execute a 3 year plan.Last year the plan was vets and now its youngsters. There never was a definite three year plan. Let's not give Williams quote more attention than it deserves. Here is Hahn, the GM, flat out saying we need young, cost controlled talent. He said more right there than Williams ever did with his three year nonsense. If by chance there was, I'm glad they're abandoning it.

White Sox decline option on Alexei Ramirez
QUOTE (Saufley @ Nov 4, 2015 -> 07:03 PM) In my wildest dream I cannot imagine Beckham back with the Sox next year. I hope that I am right. Yes, enough of Beckham. I can't wait until Danks is gone after 2016 and we're done with the "core" of those bad post 2008 teams. If nothing else, Hahn please try someone else for the exact limited production. I just want to see another face aside from Beckham's frat boy mug for more than half a season. And this time it should be permanent

White Sox decline option on Alexei Ramirez
I'd say 90% of Soxtalk did not see this coming. Sure as hell surprised me. I have read few, if any, offseason plans involving a restructured Alexi contract. If it's a restructured deal, I'm sure Hahn told Alexi the money saved would allow them to sign an additional FA. Of which would be geared towards 3B or 2B. If he leaves, I commend Hahn for atleast recognizing this collection of players isn't working and attempting something different. It's easy to sit back and say "alexi is the least of our problems" while accepting a below replacement level offensive and defensive player.

My/Your Off Season Plan
QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 4, 2015 -> 05:59 AM) with the success of the northsiders, i will say one thing. the sox's needs to come out with guns blazing. i would love the sox to fill up multi needs or holes in 1 fell swoop. but that will not happen, what they need to do is to make some exciting noise. something that the fans can see and hear, as they did last yr. if this is done, and done right, they will be able to continue to bring fans back. see those extra tickets and season tickets, and just maybe, they will not loose too may already season ticket holders. i hope they, the sox will not loose too much ground from last yr, success and just maybe stay close to the ticket sales. this is a large order and is going to require the sox FO to have some major stones to make the hard decision that is or will be needed. If we're using last year's offseason as a model for luring in season ticket sales (ie, something they can see and hear) then we're doomed to fail. If management concerns themself with building a sustainable winning ballclub, not just a team of "stop-gaps" we may be headed somewhere. Let's say an unbelievable offer comes along for Sale -- you take it, regardless of whether there's an emotional attachment to him. It always goes back to the team, anyway. If they're sluggish in April it'll completely undo any excitement from the offseason.

Four file for Free Agency
QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Nov 3, 2015 -> 01:22 PM) Haha. Elrockin is taking that Beckham crush to the grave. I'm so tired of seeing him on this team. He just epitomizes the post 2008 Chicago White for me. Mediocrity mixed in with BAD, and when you think it's all over......look who comes back for more terrible baseball! Oh, may as well throw in the disclaimers: Yes, it's not his fault the team has thrust him into a starting role Yes, he's not responsible for poorly constructed teams Yes, he's capable of playing multiple positions I understand all the excuses. I just don't want to see him or hear his walkup music anymore. Atleast now we have better IF options and his exit (permanent this team) should be guaranteed

My/Your Off Season Plan
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 04:13 PM) The Cubs will likely get one of those pitchers (top five free agent pitchers). Less likely, they might trade one of their good young players (Javier Baez?) in a package for a top starting pitcher. It will be interesting to see if the Chicago White Sox even consider trading Chris Sale, or if the Oakland A's will listen to offers for Sonny Gray. Tim Kurkjian, espn.com Yeah...... Javier Baez is not going to be involved as a centerpiece of any top starting pitcher on our team. Atleast I hope to hell not

Four file for Free Agency
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 03:17 PM) Really...that quick you can sign with new teams? I always remembered a period where you had exclusive rights. Clearly I am remembering wrong. Off-season is going to get started quickly here. I love it and wish it could get started the day after the World Series. Hahn has so much work to do to right this disaster, I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do. I really hope we look back on this offseason as the period of time Hahn began our turn around with shrewd FA pickups and trades

**2015 World Series - Mets vs Royals**
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 1, 2015 -> 11:48 PM) Holy s*** it was joke about the 2006 team. Yeah it flew over my head. I Didn't remember their team was as good offensively as it was that year. It was even better than this years Toronto team
-
**2015 World Series - Mets vs Royals**
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 1, 2015 -> 11:41 PM) And now they will win 90 games next year behind stellar offense and OK pitching as their bullpen implodes and they will miss the playoffs. Are yet we'll still be figuring out what we're doing as the team wins 79 games and misses the playoffs for the eight straight season Btw those WS hats look terrible. It's like a damn Nascar hat.

**2015 World Series - Mets vs Royals**
Congrats KC! I'm happy for them representing the ALC.

**2015 World Series - Mets vs Royals**
QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Nov 1, 2015 -> 11:27 PM) You wouldn't bet against a single team not making the World Series? That's an easy bet to make, no matter who the team is. You take everything so literal it's hilarious. Point is, last season everyone made excuses and explained the Royals wouldn't make it back. They did. And yes statistically it's probably not going to happen; but I wouldn't flat out just say they won't be back as you suggest.

**2015 World Series - Mets vs Royals**
A lot of empty seats from some views looking behind home plate. I'm sure it must hurt to watch, but cmon mets fans -- may as well just sit around and watch someone celebrate

**2015 World Series - Mets vs Royals**
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Nov 1, 2015 -> 11:22 PM) Royals not making 3 World Series in a row. I wouldn't bet on that. Although I'd say the Royals have a better shot of making the 3rd world series than we do even making the playoffs

**2015 World Series - Mets vs Royals**
QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Nov 1, 2015 -> 11:21 PM) I know most of you guys can't stand KC, but I really enjoy wathing them play. I envy their execution. Wish the Sox could just do even a fraction of what KC does. I feel the same, and I'm definitely envious of their talent.

**2015 World Series - Mets vs Royals**
QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 1, 2015 -> 11:14 PM) The Mets blew 2 9th inning leads and one 8th inning lead. SMH. That's excruciating for their fans knowing the lead has been in their hands late in all but one game. Atleast their troubles can be addressed -- Murphy and Cespedes are gone, two defensive quagmires. I'm sure they'll find defensive replacements. And they'll definitely need more bullpen help. Having an extra starter with Wheeler coming back, may as well deal Matz
-
**2015 World Series - Mets vs Royals**
Pile it on KC! You knew damn well runs were going to score after that miscue. Not like it would have mattered with 1 out and runner on second, more a feeling of "here we go"

**2015 World Series - Mets vs Royals**
QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 1, 2015 -> 11:07 PM) 4 straight sliders, just a total choke by the Mets this series You're guaranteed atleast one hanger from Reed in any given AB Murphy horrendous defensively again. Announcers making excuses for him lol
-
**2015 World Series - Mets vs Royals**
Better off walking Gordon than throwing a meat pitch here
-
**2015 World Series - Mets vs Royals**
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 1, 2015 -> 10:25 PM) Yost saving his closer on the road until he gets a lead. That never works. No kidding, I'd rather throw Davis out for two and worry about every inning afterward when it arrives, then keeping Davis waiting for a lead that may never come. They got out of the inning so everything is good for now
-
**2015 World Series - Mets vs Royals**
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 1, 2015 -> 10:13 PM) Collins is so pissed lol. He knows what awaits with questioning if Mets lose. He fell for the possible headline of "Harvey throws CG Shutout," and gave into the crowd. After that walk he should have been yanked. It was just terrible

**2015 World Series - Mets vs Royals**
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 1, 2015 -> 11:08 PM) He should have been out by a mile. Should have.....but wasn't. We should be saying that about many plays this series. It's like watching the White Sox Lets go Royals! Close it out!
