  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 4, 2015 -> 09:06 AM) You really think Kaplan has White Sox sources that he is serving? If the team wanted something leaked he is about the last guy I think it would come from. You dish dirt to the dirtiest people. Scott Merkin wouldn't write about it. Why would he make it up?
  2. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Sep 4, 2015 -> 08:55 AM) It's not stupid if they valued a top 35 pick higher than the packages being offered though. Dealing him just to deal him doesn't make any sense when there's incentive to keep him. This is where we speculate, because I feel that while we weren't going to receive a top return; judging by what Kazmir received (and figuring Shark would command less) we could have still picked up atleast one teams Top 10 prospect. I'll never believe that they were going to trade Shark in the WC position they were in unless blown away with an offer. This is my issue, because many of us knew the true nature of the team and didn't want the illusion of competing to cloud their judgement. That's why I hope if they ever find thenselves in a similar circumstance they don't hesitate to trade
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 4, 2015 -> 08:54 AM) This and the source make me doubt the story though. I don't doubt it. What we have to wonder is, how common is it for a pitcher and pitching coach to dislike each other? I'd guarantee it's not unheard of among baseball circles. There are probably endless combinations of players who hate coaches, players who hate players, etc., that we just never hear of. It was leaked at this moment for a certain reason.
  4. Also I'm of the opinion not to offer that bum anything. No QO for a supplemental draft pick is worth the possible 16 million dollar bed wetting Shark has in store for us. Hahn f***ed up not trading him, there's no rectifying that. And for everyone who thought we could just pass up trading him because the draft pick awaited us.....I hope someone on the Sox learned a lesson. Not only about knowing the team and how a 7-1 stretch didn't change who they were, but about the risk taken holding onto a player for a draft pick. Sure, Shark wasn't going to receive a Price or Cueto return, but I'm damn sure every offer presented sounds better than the current possibility of NOTHING. Makes the Oakland trade look that much worse, doesn't it?
  5. If there relationship was really that contentious, it's yet another stupid reason to have held onto him at the trade deadline. I could see Shark start to lose his patience with Cooper once the death spiral began in August and he realized 20+ million disappeared from his upcoming contract. Cooper, meanwhile, often has an arrogant demeanor to everyone in the media not named Hawk. I'm sure if a player acts disrespectful (in his mind) he wouldn't have any of it and leaked the info out to Kaplan.
  6. QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Sep 3, 2015 -> 02:06 AM) Detroit traded players who had expiring contracts and no compensation picks. We kept Shark, who very well may leave us without compensation. Sure, you'll say we weren't being overwhelmed with offers, the FO thought they were in contention, OR it was bad luck that he wet the bed post deadline; but that's too damn bad. Its their own fault for not trading him, they cannot afford to make ANY mistakes and that is a big one looming.
  7. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 2, 2015 -> 10:25 PM) Saladino and Sanchez are both utility Infielders right now. And Thompson will more than likely be a 4th OF. We're just cornering the market on backups!
  8. I wouldn't have a problem if they trotted out that lineup every night. We know Eaton and LaRoche aren't going anywhere, may as well let the younger guys play (and likely fail) with as many ABs as possible against divisional opponents
  9. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Sep 2, 2015 -> 09:36 PM) Nicely done Montas. Velocity as advertised?
  10. Do not throw another fastball to Buxton....for the love of God. He cannot read the slider
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 2, 2015 -> 09:06 PM) Why was Sanchez breaking to 2nd base? Are they on drugs this inning Did he think that was Abreus play? Lol. Petricka putting everything into these pitches
  12. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Sep 2, 2015 -> 08:59 PM) The Sox are just bad. Millone gets rocked usually. He's not a terrible pitcher......but he's also not striking out 7 every start.
  13. Wait but Hawk, rodon had pitched Escobar down the entire series then threw a high fastball.....why didn't he swing like our hitters did!? He readjusted the eye level!!!
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 2, 2015 -> 08:36 PM) Sox have some really stupid hitters Coupled with bad umpiring crew, we're left with 0 runs. He has left up a good number of changeups this game, too.
  15. Every lineup is a spring training one with our offense. Atleast Thompson is starting
  16. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 09:43 PM) Sox need to get this to extras. We're deadly. Whats their record in extras?
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 09:34 PM) One of the better AL Central power hitting prospects I've seen Unfortunately yet another power hitting prospect not in a White Sox uniform
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 09:30 PM) Exactly. LaRoche is going to play a TON because of the money he earns. We have to accept this. He will not be platooned ... ever. Why did you type that, Tizzle? This wasn't a big game by any stretch. No pressure at all tonight. Sale throws way too many pitches. Good thing they just yanked him at 115 or so through 6 1/3. I agree. It's frustrating even though Saladino sometimes tries to go with the pitch and drill singles to right, which I like. His batting average kind of blows and I wouldn't mind seeing him ninth for a while. It wasnt a big game as if our playoff hopes rested on it, but pitching against a divisional ballclub competing for a WC spot knowing they've hit you well would have been on my mind.
  19. QUOTE (BamaDoc @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 09:27 PM) Why is he out there? It worked out well for RV and Sale, but I was wondering too why with 105+ pitches and the lead he'd be out to statt the 7th? I would have taken Jones against Mauer, anyday
  20. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 09:15 PM) Sale puts up ridiculous numbers even when he sucks. He's going to match the 20k record one of these days I swear. I'll give him credit for battling through the game after the 2nd inning. Especially holding down the Twins after the big inning from the offense. Anyone notice how Sale pitched better when he dropped his velocity to 92-94? It was as if someone told him to scale back and improve his command
  21. QUOTE (LDF @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 09:04 PM) if they really made some hard, harsh choices in spring training and i am not talking about trading Sale nor Jose, i feel as they can compete next yr. Yeah, if they trade one of their few commodities in Quintana and receive one hell of a return, if every offensive player improves, if every starter improves, and every FA pickup/trade works out, we can compete. Also if KC and Minnesota regress. What other harsh choices could there be to help us?
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 08:34 PM) Some good at bats this inning! Quick yank too. Now Sale needs to man up and pitch like our ace
  23. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 07:10 PM) Scott Merkin ‏@scottmerkin 13m13 minutes ago Minneapolis, MN Hahn: "The approach we’ve had for the last several weeks or months in the front office has been to be extremely open minded ... Scott Merkin ‏@scottmerkin 13m13 minutes ago Minneapolis, MN Hahn: "There’s no sacred cows. Everything is on the table and we are looking at everything." Build around Chris Sale and Jose Abreu. No, look at this team -- if someone blows us away with an offer, you trade anyone.
