Ordonez part of A-Rod mix
If we get Williamson, Mota, Perez, and Greg Miller I will be satisfied in trading Maggs. Hopefully Boston doesnt balk on the notion of trading Nomar to LA. On rotoworld, Boston Globe believes they should keep Nomar instead of acquiring Maggs; who makes almost 3 million more and is in the last year of his contract. If kept: Nomar would be moved to third, Mueller to seconed. By the time I wake up (2pm or so) this trade better be completed.

IMO, that lineup is on par with what we will see opening day. For SS, I would still hold an outside chance of Guillen (who could possibly be traded from Seattle for Valentine. Garcia then would not be included in the trade). Now what is unlikely to happen is the Sox signing Ponson. From what I read he is waiting for the Orioles future acquisitions before committing or signing elsewhere. Saying Ponson decides to leave Baltimore there will likely be a team willing to overpay for him. Too many tangibles would have to fall into place for the Sox to acquire him. If there was a list of starting pitchers most likely to be with the Sox in 04 it would look like this: 1. Garcia (Valentine) 2. Perez (Maggs) 3. Ponson (conservatively, 6 mil a year.) If all three somehow were on the Sox, could you imagine Jon Garland pitching in the bullpen? Seems unlikely to me...and I'm positive he wouldnt appreciate the move.

going to see The Return of the King tonight
Bunch of dwarfs trying to destroy a ring doesn't sound interesting to me. Dont need to see the movie to realize that they probably destroy the ring and either one of the two main characters (Elijah wood or the fat kid) die. Whats worse is these nerd movies never get old and live on forever. In twenty years, when it seems everyone has forgotten about LOTR some nostalgic asshole will re-release the film and start this obsession up again.

Alright, our defense is dramatically improved. I honestly am not familiar with Damons abilities in CF. I made the assumption that Willie and Damon were about par defensively.

I love this board!
Since being banned a couple months ago I havent been able to view the WSI message boards. But if you can consider WSI more pessimistic then Soxtalk you managed to avoid us at the right times. I guess this week is better; right after we lost Colon there must of been 10 "f*** JR, Sox Suck!!" threads floating around.

Mark Redman traded to A's
Not really.......except that 5th starter goes by the name of Dick Harden. Leading up the game in which he lost (against the Sox of all people) Harden was pitching very well. Since that game I lost track of how he finished, but regardless of any slide he might of endured most teams would take this guy as a 3, 4.

Sure we can. Valentine and Maggs together are about that price. We do improve offensively (slightly defensively) but arent cutting payroll. By not creating any flexibility to pay for added relievers of possible starters (Ponson would be the only SP we would acquire outside of a trade) we are left to trade more players. Thats why the Maggs/Perez,Moto,Etc. deal is so vital to this team. We effectively elimante two of our needs....balancing the bullpen and filling the role of a starter. Bouncing off this trade Sox could deal Valentine for Garcia; thus completing our 04 rotation. Whatever money is left (if any) could be used to pay for a non tendered reliever or a utility player.

Stop milking the hot chick thread/contest. You had your moment.....now you can go back into obscurity.

ARod deal all but done
Bad news in the sense that Nomar will go to the Dodgers and really f*** up our chances of getting Mota, Perez, or any of the prospects in a straight deal. Although we may possibly get what we want through Boston. If Magglio is still involved in this deal we may add in more players to recieve Williamson.

Mark Redman traded to A's
Bean does it again. Florida got screwed in this deal. They traded a solid pitcher for an average reliver...who only appeared in 32 games with a 3.64 ERA. Unless this player to announced later is some stud then Florida really got the short end of this deal.

HKS designs
I have never seen the picture that shows the renovated fan deck with a tiered look. Its a good addition, since Credes crew always seem to crowd the s*** out of the front row.

Winter Meetings Roundup
If all goes well with trades involving Williamson and Molta then Sox probably wont spend money (if any is still available) towards Urbina. From what I gathered on Williamson, Boston fans believed he had the s*** to close games....so if the Koch/Weathers deal is finalized I wouldnt mind having Williamson fill the role.

Phil Rogers Article
I love the Trib article. Story seems to establish a point that any trade we make is going to screw us. Downey concentrates an entire paragraph to proving how Molta is a coward.....but only manages 3 words to describe him as a pither: "Molta throws hard."

Phil Rogers Article
Scott Williamson for Danny Wright or Jon Rauch......what a fricken steal. Preferably I would deal Jon Rauch and keep Danny Wright in a position to become a long reliever. But if Danny has to go to get Williamson then I'll take the offer. Good to see LA facing limited options with their offense. If the whole Maggs....Perez/Mota deal goes down then KW has put us in a great positon to win the Central.

Sox Interested in Sox Williamson
If you place Juan Uribe in the SS position then who becomes the utility player. I know its not a great concern at this point but who else could fill the role. I'm not too familiar with players available on the market that could fill a utility position, but trading Valentine leads the sox to bump up Uribe and leave his spot vacant.

Gammons Winter Meet.Update
We're REALLY screwed if Garciaparra is traded to LA. Then we can't use Maggs as bait to recieve any of LA's top relievers/prospects. More then that we're stuck with his 14 mil. and still lack two starting pitchers.

Weren't the Angels the top candidate for Nomar if the Arod-Manny deal went down?

Ordonez Deal Stuck on Hold
LA pisses me off. Did they see where all the pitching got them last year? If they continue to baby their pitching prospects (or Molta) they're are going to have a s*** offense, AGAIN. Watch their fans start b****ing when they lose 2-0 ball games all throughout the season. Gagnes useless unless your team is actually in the lead.

December 15 Trade Rumors
www.Rotoworld.com - There goes the idea of a second baseman experiment. If he signs it also erases any chance of us unloading Konerko in a trade. No matter, Maggs and Valentine are still on the table. -I know many of you don't like this guy but he could of been an option.....seeing that we're in need of two starting pitchers (With limited choices available) -If Valentine is shipped out I would love to have him on our the Sox. Whether or not he signs with the Tigers Aurilia might not be available by the time KW makes some moves. Next in line for Aurilia would be the Dodgers and Seattle......both teams were attempting to trade with.

nelson?
We should of had Nelson around the trading deadline last year, but supposedly we balked on signing him as some sort of courtesy to the Yankees (probably for allowing us to get Colon)
-
New White Sox Article
Mota!!!!! Pull that trigger KW........PULL IT. If he's in the picture then Sox could be putting Thomas on the table. Or maybe Konerko and Valentine. I dont get how Art Howe falls into the picture, what was he defending? You may of cut some of the article out.

Todd Walker
One year offer for Todd Walker.....why aren't the Sox jumping on this? If he signs for anything less then 3 million a year I'm going to kick KW in the balls.

Graffy signs with the Royals
I could see Graff leaving with the Uribe move.... but why Sullivan? After realizing your bullpen just lost Gordon would you not attempt to resign this guy? A "rubber arm" type of pitcher that eats up innings and is great in a clubhouse. Some of the Cinncinnati players were crying last year when Sully was traded. If we can somehow swap Maggs/Valentine for Garcia/Soriano/Winn(?) I'll be freakin estatic. But that scenario represents a trade that seemingly goes in our favor......therefore it will never happen.

nelson?
Nelson or Rhodes in our bullpen will have an impact. Both are good, though both also carry large salaries.
