  1. How in the world can anything that happens in Iraq effect daily life here in the US. Overlooking the belief of this nation that Iraq has been developing WMD programs, whether Iraq governs itself.......or launches into total anarchy you won't notice the slightest difference from here in America. Now go back on my original post if you think I'm lying, but with the Iraq war I disagree with a draft because it has not effect our national security. That doesn't mean I disagree with with ever circumstance warranting a draft. If our country was ever under a threat of being attacked I would have no problem in being drafted. Yahtzee......being drafted to fight in Iraq is worth putting your life on the line? For what, so some Iraqis (that dont want us there) can live in a democracy? f*** EM, don't care how politically incorrect or ignorant that sounds. For our soldiers that are over there and believe in the cause of rebuilding Iraq I give them all my respect. They voluntered to fight for our country and must follow their decision, no matter where it takes them. I supported our governments case on invading/liberating Iraq from Saddam Hussein. Rebuilding is an essential part of finishing our business and it was clear from Bush the US would not abandon the Iraqi people. But are we going to have soldiers in the country for the next 20 years "rebuilding"? Iraq will always be volitale, and there will always be terrorists willing to kill US soldiers. We did our job in Iraq, now its time to bring our soldiers home and let them Iraqis begin their lives. A little extreme to say that. Once again, I must affirm I don't disagree with a draft if Its under the proper circumstances. I doubt your family would be tortured if US troops would return from Iraq. If you choose to blindly follow the draft with the mentality that you "owe your country" then I suggest you move to China. They have a great army (the largest in the world) and military service is mandatory.
  2. Do.....you have any reasons to back up your well thought out opinion.
  3. Stupid decisions include the draft. Another could be ignoring veterans looking for work after Vietnam. But back to the present..... support for this war is slipping. Americans don't want to hear about their own soldiers being killed every day. Every month that goes by, support for Bush continues to slip. If he wasn't so stubborn in his "resolve" our soldies would be home right now.
  4. Good job TExsox, SS2K4 tried to edit his post but you quoted him before he could change it. Now I can ask him a question. SS2k4.......was she a freshman in High school or college.
  5. But wouldnt Bush know that bringing back the draft means certain death in public opinion? And of all people, he dodged the draft himself. All I know is Bush will stay clear of the d-word during his re-election period.
  6. I'm definately against the draft. As the argument has probably been repeated throughout the therad, why initiate the draft for a war that has NO effect on our national security. I'm beginning not to give a f*** what goes in in Iraq...let them govern themselves. If another radical establishment runs itself into Iraq let the middle east deal with it. Being 18 yrs old, I would be eligible for the draft. College education will not exempt anyone; in the event there was a draft I would be able to complete the remaining semester of college and then my ass would be shipped out to Iraq. In the 70's, my dad was drafted during the Vietnam war and served 2 years (was honorably discharged after being injured). From his standpoint, a veteran of war, he ABSOLUTELY disagrees with the draft. When you come home and learn your best friend was killed it tends to change your view on the topic. Sidenote to add: Women are not exempt from being drafted in this war. And Canada is not going to just allow draft-dodgers to take refuge in their country. So you better watch out Sideshowapu
  7. Is that near St.Nicks/Hubbard.....I lived off 62nd and Lawndale for about 12 years. It was a good neighborhood (not anymore)
  8. Lets not forget Billy Wagner.....5'11 and consistently hits high 90's.
  9. Thats funny s*** PB. Too bad this thread probably wont last too long after everyone mentioned in that message explodes.

    DVD Burning

For anyone that can answer...... Dont have a DVD Rom on my computer; and even though I have a Regular CD Burner would I somehow be able to copy DVDs if I downloaded a certain program. I know I have to download the actual DVD burning software......but I'm thinking I might have to find another program that could read the DVD and somehow download it on my computer.
  11. Rotoworld: Juan Gonzalez signs with the Royals a one year, 4 million dollar contract. With this guy, nobody can predict how he can be (with the injury problems) but there is a tremendous upside. When healthy he is a very productive hitter and who will fit well into the newly revamped KC lineup. Sox will have tough seven games to start the season (KC,NYY: both away)
  12. For those wondering about Detroit....... "No final figures were available, but an FBI report in mid-December put the city on a pace to end 2003 with its fewest homicides since 1968. The total would be about 365, the FBI said."
  13. CHICAGO (AP) - Despite a sharp drop in homicides, Chicago has regained a title it didn't want: America's murder capital. The city finished 2003 with 599 homicides, police said Thursday. That was down from 648 a year earlier and the first time since 1967 that the total dipped below 600. Still, the nation's third-largest city outpaced all others for the second time in three years. New York, with about three times the population, ended the year with 596 homicides. Los Angeles, which had the most murders in 2002 at 658, wound up 2003 with an estimated total just under 500. Chicago's new police superintendent, Philip J. Cline, joined colleagues elsewhere in blaming homicides largely on a volatile mix of gangs, guns and drugs. But officials pointed to a new system established in June, partly inspired by New York's computerized crime analysis unit, that contributed to an 18 percent drop in Chicago murders in the second half of 2003 compared with a year earlier. In New York, the unofficial murder tally of 596 compared with 584 in 2002. That was a 2 percent jump but still made 2003 the city's second straight year below 600 - dramatically less than the 2,245 homicides recorded in 1990.
  14. Excellent. Lets just screw Evans out of Perez, Mota, Miller, Jackson and we'll be set. I honestly can't believe Evans doesn't look at his options on the FA market or non-tendered list......atleast he would still keep his valuable pitching prospects. Talented starter......unless his name is Greg Maddux I'm not too excited about this claim. And who exactly expects them to do this? I sure as hell don't.

It doesnt take much to get some riled up around here. Just say something "beastly-esque" that is very inappropriate and things will get very interesting. And yes, I'm sure many around here have known Beastly=WSC. I believe it was Aboz who did detective work and found out that both names shared the same AIM account. The mods all knew but kept it secret until Aboz cracked the mystery. That was around september......

That was a great thread. Although at the expense of another (and for the reason it was closed) it was a whacky thread that went into 10 different subjects.
  18. I would be too. Midway Airport is less than 15 miles away from the Sears Tower......and if a plane was ever hijacked there is no way a jet could be scrambled in time. But as far as the sky deck, I have to imagine its still doing well. When I went over the summer for the first time it was packed. Though it can make you a little nervous watcing planes flying around the loop. Junior year in high school (when 9/11 occured) my teacher in architecture said that if similar planes hit the Sears Tower it wouldnt completelycollapse unless you hit below the first fifty stories....and thats nearly impossible to do because of the surrounding buildings.
  19. "We are the sultans.......we are the sul......tans of swing" That was the theme song to the 2000 White Sox. Dire Straights other popular song was Money For Nothing. If you dont remember its the really cheezy video from the early days of MTV where all the characters are in choppy, computer graphics.

    Best Toys

The best toys I had when I was a kid were Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Ghostbusters. Thought the Ghostbuster Headquarters was the greatest toy ever invented....along with the Turtles Sewar System.
  21. Why does everyone always capitalize every letter in Spam? It taste like s*** and doesn't deserve that distinction.
  22. It looks like that isn't going to happen. If they were true fans they would quit their jobs and concentrate primarily on Sox and Roll. A Cub fan would never put something as useless as a "job" over their favorite baseball team.
  23. Read the last post on thread entitled "Showering" under Sex, Lies, and Politics. If you go back through the last couple pages you will understand why he is banned.
  24. He can't view the boards you say? Well, no need on bashing him if he's not here. Must of been his comments in the shower thread that got him this time.
  25. Is that a joke that Shoenweiss will be our 4th starter? And if Scott is our 4th, who's our 5th.....DIAZ? I hope not. Its clear that if Sox can't cut payroll were going to have two automatic losses in the 4th,5th starter slot.
