  1. They're going to pick up his option, no doubt.
  2. Agreed about two quality players. However, when has a player like Moncada been traded? It's possible his value is too high for other teams to entertain. The trade would need to include 3 studs in it, plus at least one other quality prospect
  3. I'm slowly being sold on the idea. Advocating is too strong of a word at this point. If Yoan brought back an unprecedented prospect return, I may be for it.
  4. Those guys weren't actually part of THE rebuild. The White Sox tried to compete for years with them. That was a half assed, old school rebuild. Trading those guys signalled the beginning of the current rebuild.
  5. This is what I'm referring to. The idea is intriguing. There's no denying that. This is a move that could pay bigtime dividends.
  6. No, 2nd generation as in trading guys from the 1st generation of the rebuild for more prospects. I don't mean a generation as in 1 year. It's which rebuild they were part of.
  7. The Marlins never did the 2nd generation rebuild correctly. Sox could do it now if they were committed.
  8. Only 7 carries today in total by ours backs? Am I seeing that correctly?
  9. The season didn't matter. I think they were aware that Palka was horrendous in RF lol... They aren't that clueless.
  10. This thought has always crossed my mind, and I saw another poster talking about it recently. The White Sox are known to be a stingy organization. The idea of the rebuild was acquire cheap, young talent through draft picks and trades. That talent gets supplemented with established players who will cost more. In typical rebuilds, you trade your high end players for a bunch of high end prospects (Sale, Quitana, Eaton, etc.). As far as established veterans who have been traded, these guys had just about the best contracts out there. Cheap and under control for a while. Trading a player like Yoan would result in an unprecedented return. You could absolutely stack the system and once again have one of the best, WHILE being loaded with young talent in the majors. Now, I'm not advocating trading Yoan, but the 2nd generation rebuild might be the true way to develop a multiple championship dynasty. Interesting to think about.
  11. The priority should be signing Rendon and moving Moncada to RF. The defense would be lethal.
  12. Edinson Volquez consistently has poor stats, but always gets another shot. Looking at his WHIP is laughable.
  13. I can't think of many worse ideas than a rap demolition night on the south side of Chicago
  14. Strasburg will have over 240 IP this year. That's the most he has ever pitched and a lot more than he has pitched in any of the last 4 seasons. I would be worried about a monster contract to him.
  15. The White Sox have slashed payroll the previous years so they could spend big on free agents when the time comes. They can still land big names players while having a middle of the pack payroll. No excuses. The typical "we tried" isn't going to fly this offseason.
  16. Lol dude I was a year off. He will be 37 the majority of next season, not 38. I checked bbref and was mistaken initially. I have no agenda regarding Brett freaking Gardner
  17. Agreed. I know a lot of that is just bad luck considering other teams have had better luck with aging hitters, but still. We're not talking even low to mid thirties here. This guy is will be 38. Unless he is juicing (which is possible), I don't like our odds. I don't want to sign him just because he is a lefty. Spend that 10m~ elsewhere.
  18. I just don't like the idea of signing a 38 year old to patrol the OF. I know he has a solid year, but father time will get his ass next season or the season after.
  19. Contracts aside, Albies and Acuna vs Soto and Robles going forward. Is the answer without question Albies and Acuna? My brain says it is, but Soto's lefty bat and potential intrigues me.
  20. Rendon flashing the leather tonight. Sign this man!
  21. Nats look to have this thing in the bag. Rendon with a hell of a play. Ozuna with a lousy one in the OF.
  22. Is it guaranteed? No. Shoot for the stars and get somebody better. I'm sick of the pro-Jose Abreu agenda around here.
  23. Why is Jose's box automatically checked? This thing is complete crap.
  24. Funny, I don't recall you ever saying this to me.
  25. Playing Kris Bryant in the OF for 69 games sure hurt the Cubs in 2016. Yoan is the type of athlete that could handle playing 3B and the OF.
