Abreu “as valuable as anything” to Sox: Merkin
If that wasn't the case Abreu wouldn't get ripped on for being a dogshit 1st baseman and having a dogshit OBP

Abreu “as valuable as anything” to Sox: Merkin
"It seems to be another elite, middle-of-the-order performance the White Sox have come to expect from a healthy Abreu. But the first baseman’s on-base percentage is at a career-low .313 and the funks he’s had in ’19 have been a bit more extended than years past. Those results aren’t necessarily related to those who are hitting or aren’t hitting around him in the White Sox lineup. It’s more about a player often identified by other teams as the White Sox player that can’t be allowed to beat them." “If he was a guy that I would say walks 75 to 100 times per year, it would be better for him obviously. But he’s never been that guy coming out of Cuba. He’s more of a swinger. We talk about it all the time. That’s probably the biggest difference [this season]. They aren’t pitching to him as much this year and he’s not taking his walks, which he’s never been a high walk guy.” They highlight his weakness in the article at least. I don't see him improving in that aspect as he ages. A 3 hole hitter with a .300 OBP is not what I want.

8/13- Sox/Astros Doubleheader, 3:40
Can confirm they are hiring more analysts. I know somebody who interviewed recently. Hopefully it is the start of a new era for the White sox. Hopefully he can find a way to get me into the organization as well.

8/13 Games
I'm willing to give him more time in a better league next year, but c'mon. The dude is struggling to hit as a 22 year old in DSL. Pretty embarrassing considering all our eggs went into that basket for the most part. What a failure of an international signing period.

Rick Hahn and his Trades
Let's make it to the ALCS first. Tatis Jr's success is much more guaranteed than an ALCS run at this .point.

Ozney Guillen next budding star manager?
@greg775 this may be our chance at getting a Guillen back as manager of the White Sox. I hope so. Nothing beat Ozzie talking about the rats at Wrigley Field. Comedic gold.

Ozney Guillen next budding star manager?
For some reason I thought it was Oney and Ozzie Jr

Ozney Guillen next budding star manager?
He is the son that wasn't a jagoff during the Ozzie-Kenny beef, correct?

Sox and As game 3 rubber match
Don't tell that to @greg775 But for real, while batting average holds much less weight now a days, the batting title is still a cool thing to win.

Field of Dreams Game: Sox vs. Yankees 8.13.20
I expect Abreu to be on a team that is neither the White Sox nor the Yankees. Wherever he is, I'm sure he'll be cursing Rick Hahn for not bringing him back (with half a tin in his lip, of course)

Speaking facts? Thank you.

8/8 Games
Really excited about Vaughn. Maybe he'll be one of those prospects that comes up and hits from the start.

Keith Law is #1 in the White Sox hater club. His opinions should be outlawed from this forum

White Sox Winner!!
Abreuniks coming out in full force. Whether he sucks in cold weather or sucks without pressure is debatable. His numbers in August and September are much better than any other months. I think it has to do with pressure from competing early on and then the trade deadline.

White Sox Winner!!
Jose is always fun to watch post trade deadline. His best months statistically are August and September, hands down. No pressure with the trade deadline passed. No pressure from a potential playoff run. That's how he thrives. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.fcgi?id=abreujo02&t=b&year=Career

Hahn expects aggressive offseason
Example of a very good pitcher who got a similar contract to what you described, just for context?

Hahn expects aggressive offseason
He is just making an educated guess most likely. The biggest FA contract is 68m to Abreu if I'm not mistaken. It is embarrassing they have never eclipsed that and it will be extremely embarrassing if they don't eclipse it this offseason. A pitcher will get signed by the team for over 68m total.
