QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 30, 2014 -> 03:10 PM) Illini bball has a committ They didn't get a commit from Brunson yet? -
QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 30, 2014 -> 02:15 PM) If Sale starts 32 games next year, he's winning a Cy. Period. Completely agree. I really feel like he was toying with the Tigers today. He was usually 89-91 in an at bat then with 2 strikes lets break out the nasty slider or go hard at 95-96 lol.

Montas activated and promoted to AA. Starts tomorrow.
-
Anderson and Ravelo both 1-1
-
Tanner Banks making his debut with Kanny. Lefty starter that was drafted this year.
-
If anyone noticed, it looks like RHP Storm Throne has been released. He is not on any White Sox minor league roster.
-
Mitchell staying hot too. 1-1 2B, BB

Same to think about within the first 5 rounds next year. Kevin Duchene LHP from Illinois. Real good pitcher and did very well in the cape cod league this past summer.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 08:30 AM) Dee needs to become an assistant coach as soon as he hangs em up. I completely agree. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 08:47 AM) Is he still trying to make it overseas? Yes. Also, Rick Brunson (Jalen's dad) said if Jalen feels comfortable with the school, he'll pull the trigger and commit. That came out 2 days ago. I like what I'm hearing right before the official. Illinois is in this thing. -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 09:40 AM) The MLB and MLBPA will rarely allow any sort of conditions of contracts or agreements to be based on performance other than award based (SS, GG, ASG, MVP, yada yada). It's basically "if the guy suits up and plays a lot for us, we will reward you better." Well he has been playing a bit lately so....

QUOTE (hi8is @ Aug 28, 2014 -> 10:00 PM) Well well well - 2 for 4 last night with 2 RBI and a homer. Good. Bring us a good player Gordon.

I wonder where Andre Wheeler starts next year. Would love to see him in AA

Watching Latos pitch against the Cubs last night had me a bit worried. He was mainly between 88-92 with a pretty over the top curveball. It's just if I want someone throwing 88-92 like Shields, I would take him because of his track record and less of an injury concern with a great change up. So hopefully Hahn sees that he can acquire a good #2 in the free agency like Shields and address the bullpen and uses trades to acquire more offense.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Aug 28, 2014 -> 12:07 PM) I think you just gave a great reason why he SHOULD be traded: his value is super high. He will be 33 come the start of the 2015 season and has a great contract with an option for $10 million each year over the next two seasons. Right now he is the 3rd most valuable SS in the league. The main question is do the Sox think they can compete in 2015 and 2016, thus making more sense to keep your star SS. But that may not be the best move for the future, partially because I don't think the Sox will be a playoff-caliber team next year. It's a tough situation. I do know if Alexei was on the Cubs, he would be traded. We'll see if Rick dangles him this offseason. Oh I completely agree on why he should be traded, but I get the feeling that Hahn thinks this team can compete next year with the right pieces acquired in the off season. If that doesn't happen in the winter, then I could see around spring training that they could pull a trigger on a trade for Alexei if he were to be dealt.

QUOTE (RegionSox @ Aug 28, 2014 -> 09:07 AM) I noticed today that Jason Parks took a job with the Cubs scouting department. He did always seem to follow their minors pretty closely. Yeah my friend texted me that last night. He is always on the Cubs nuts. Fits him well.

QUOTE (The Wiz @ Aug 28, 2014 -> 11:48 AM) I don't understand why it has to be either or, I personally would love to see all three of Semien, Sanchez, and Johnson up next year each getting around 400 ABs and competing for starting jobs and playing time between SS and 2B. Plus Semien can get occasional PT at 3B or LF and Johnson could as well in the OF. Of course this means trading Alexei which would hurt but if we actually want to get some young quality pitching or a power bat this off-season, Ramirez being traded offers the best chance of getting that back. I like all 3 of Sanchez, Johnson and Semien, but I don't know if I would trade Alexei just yet. Yes, his value at an all time high right now and he very well could win a gold glove this year, but he's one of those players that is just a White Sox player, homegrown, and a veteran leader that Sox will need when they get good. I would keep Alexei and trade one of 3 prospects. I would not be mad if Alexei is traded but if it were to happen, better be damn good.

QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Aug 28, 2014 -> 11:31 AM) Who dose the Sox core consist of? Because I cant define them, and when you cant define your core then you dont have one. Sale, Quintana, Abreu, Eaton, Garcia, Rodon. Outside but possibly Gillaspie, Alexei (age), Flowers (works well with staff). Not bad if you ask me....

QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 27, 2014 -> 10:21 PM) Good ball game. Feel good about Noesi as the 5th starter next year. I agree. Rotation of Sale, Shields, Quintana, Rodon, Noesi is pretty impressive. Hopefully they can make a run at Shields.

Price absolutely got shelled by the Yankees today.

Wendelken always seem to struggle in the 1st inning. I would love to know what his 1st inning ERA is on the year.
