QUOTE (bmags @ May 15, 2014 -> 03:54 PM) Peavy Rios trade obviously need to be evaluated on dollar terms, but the Rios for L. Garcia is kind of a huge bust for me right now. Yeah, looking in hindsight, Rangers got a major steal, wonder what Sox could of got if he was a deadline deal last year. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 15, 2014 -> 05:06 PM) Love the index in the OP, nicely done. LHP Eric Surkamp as a waiver claim might be worth mentioning. Also there are a handful of minor leaguers he has picked up that are still down there, most are non-prospects but a couple have a little interest maybe. Guys like Mike Recchia, Jake Sanchez, David Putman. But not sure it is worth even assigning those to him, he probably only signed a piece of paper in those cases. Thank you. I was considering Wheeler also. I did mention Surkamp in the waivers by the way.

I have saved this to my laptop and will continue to update this along with minor league rosters as we go on.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ May 15, 2014 -> 02:11 PM) The only move I didn't like at the time was the Peavy deal, as I've long thought Avisail overrated before we acquired him. I'm still not a big Avi fan, but I do believe it was the best deal that was on the table, and I think moving Peavy then was the right thing to do. I really believe Avi is a huge part of the core and is pretty solid considering his age (only 22), he still has plenty of time to develop, just like Viciedo. Not to mention Montas has had 2 great starts so far, Rondon is in the 260s with a great glove in Kanny and Wendelken has average numbers as a starter but he K's a lot of people and doesn't walk anybody, I think he'll be best in the bullpen. Remember, Avi is the oldest player in that deal too. Those 3 are all 21 or younger.

IMO, like I'm sure most of us, he has done a tremendous job overhauling this team to make it a young yet competitive team that can push for the playoffs if not this season but for sure down the road. What are your guys' thoughts so far on his moves and if I missed anything, please tell me and I can edit this and possibly we can sticky this while we monitor Hahn's moves in the future. I think it would be beneficial to us to see how well he has done so far for this team in a short period of time.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 15, 2014 -> 11:57 AM) All good moves to see. Recchia didn't belong in A+, and I'm interested to see what Lowry brings to the table as a starter. FYI, talked with Bassitt, he says they are targeting a return around the all star break. Non-baseball injury, but don't know anything beyond that, and didn't want to push the subject. Really hope Bassitt can come back soon, he's already 25 and in AA, I think it would be huge if he lost a year. I too am very interested to see Lowry with Kanny. I also want to see Chris Fruedenberg in Kanny at some point this season.

Scott Merkin @scottmerkin 17m Hahn on Keppinger decision: "We are focusing on the future as opposed to trying to justify a decision from the past." Dan Hayes @DanHayesCSN 17m Per Rick Hahn, Jeff Keppinger is healthy. Shoulder has responded well. Move was made to give more PT to Gillaspie, Semien, Beckham. Scott Merkin @scottmerkin 16m Hahn on the signing: "It didn’t work. That’s on me." Scott Merkin @scottmerkin 16m Hahn had a brief conversation with Keppinger this morning. He understood CWS rationale for move and they wished each other well Scott Merkin @scottmerkin 7m Hahn said a position change for someone in the plethora of Minor League infield talent is "conceivable" down the line. But .... Scott Merkin @scottmerkin 7m The goal is development with these players. So they are not throwing something new at them as they are getting comfortable. Dan Hayes @DanHayesCSN 1m Rick Hahn also thanked chairman Jerry Reinsdorf for flexibility to DFA Jeff Keppinger, which could cost Sox whats left on $8.5 mill deal.

QUOTE (flavum @ May 14, 2014 -> 11:52 AM) https://twitter.com/JKeppinger/status/466620010157596672 I will not miss him grounding out to SS or popping out softly to the right side 85% of the time.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 14, 2014 -> 11:48 AM) Jordan Danks and Blake Tekotte are your minor league OF depth for the Sox this year. And that's not saying much. Losing Garcia for the year and Eaton for a little while really thins out the OF. It just really sucks that it will be another year at least before the Sox really know what they really have in Garcia. It kind of puts a damper on offseason activity. I agree. Garcia was just starting to heat up right before he got hurt. I still think a Garcia, Eaton outfield is good enough to build for the future. I believe Viciedo will keep hitting well, so he's best suited for DH.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 14, 2014 -> 11:36 AM) You might lose one, MAYBE two of those guys to DFA this year. De Aza being on that list is just silly. I know not all of those guys would get DFA'd, I'm just saying those are candidates. I agree about De Aza because he provides depth and Sox have nothing in the OF in the minors besides maybe Mitchell or Thompson.
-
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ May 14, 2014 -> 11:30 AM) I don't know that it's that he rubbed somebody the wrong way as much as it was a roster crunch. The only way to fit Keppinger on the roster was to keep LGarcia as both the backup SS and backup OF. Now with Keppinger gone they can keep both Semien and Sierra to fill the two roles. Also, the extra spot on the 40 will be very useful. That will be used be Micah Johnson. Guaranteed QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 14, 2014 -> 11:31 AM) lol.. What?
-
Other candidates to be DFA'd by the end of the season Scott Carroll Frank Fransisco Alejandro De Aza (I think this will spook him) Moises Sierra Felipe Paulino Jordan Danks Nester Molina Jared Mitchell Eric Surkamp

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 14, 2014 -> 11:20 AM) Doing the math, if they can't deal Kepp, or he isn't claimed, the Sox on the hook for about $7.5 million here. If someone does claim him, they can use that money on a starter.
-
I agree. Kids now a days use a lot of arm in their motion. I coach at the high school level and pitchers and even outfielders are using all arm and upper half in their motion and crow hops. It's honestly harder than you think to change it.
-
I'm pretty shocked by this as well. Gotta give credit though, he makes a mistake, knows it and has the balls to DFA him and eat that much money left unless someone claims him. I really hope someone claims him lol

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 13, 2014 -> 04:14 PM) The thread. I have to think the Sox are going to trade one or two infielders at some point, and then he comes up. So yeah. For minor league pitching or outfield prospects?

Hawkins doubled and Barnum walked.

Davidson ended up 3-4. Big thing from EJ's line is that 0 walks.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 12, 2014 -> 08:57 AM) I heard one of the minor league announcers commenting on this (referring to the long at-bats)...the White Sox organization should do the same thing. Any hitter who can manage to get a 10 (or more pitches) at-bat gets a free steak dinner. Simple idea, but it's amazing how much good instilling this type of philosophy from the very beginning of their time in the organization would do by the time they reach Chicago and Steverson. We're already seeing some of this out of Semien and Eaton, for example. Of course, a lot of it's currently ending up in K's for Marcus, at least for the time being until he can make some more adjustments. We do this for the HS baseball team I coach. The players get a steak dinner for a 3 pitch inning, or more than a 10 pitch at bat. The players get a gatorade if they were a walk from an 0-2 count or have more than 5 foul balls in an at bat. -
Kanny came back and won in the top of the 7th. Trey 1-3 with an RBI Engel 1-3 with a 2B
-
Barnum 2-3 now. Wheeler for Kanny pitched very well again. Kanny's pitching has been very good this season.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 11, 2014 -> 03:12 PM) Please please add another outfielder to this roster. ADA is unplayable against LHP. Leury is a waste of a roster spot right now. I'd rather have him in CF right now than De Aza
