Hahn says trade talks have heated up.
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 3, 2013 -> 01:49 PM) Did that article really say our payroll is expected to be in the mid-to-high $80M's range? Does Hahn really think we can compete with this roster with an 80 million dollar payroll.

Hahn says trade talks have heated up.
DBacks are the third team in the Hanigan trade
-
Ryan Hanigan Dealt to TB, Possible 3 Team Deal
Traded to Rays. Possible 3 team trade per Rosenthal
-
Dan Hudson Non tendered
I don't care about injuries. Hahn needs to sign this kid right now
-
Fister? Damn near traded her!
QUOTE (scs787 @ Dec 2, 2013 -> 07:36 PM) I wonder if this means Smyly returns to the rotation? If so Detroit better start adding some bullpen pieces. I could see Krol replacing Smyly

Sox sign 2 to minor league deals
Can we expect anything out of these guys or just Minor league depth

Hahn says trade talks have heated up.
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 2, 2013 -> 11:06 AM) He's going to be 23 next year. No, he has no MLB experience, but that doesn't matter for next year's team. Tyler Flowers had major league experience and he was a mammoth of a bust. Here are his numbers http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/p...id=perez-010car I was just wondering if he did or not. But he would definitely be helpful and add depth to that position through the organization.

Hahn says trade talks have heated up.
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 2, 2013 -> 10:31 AM) The Sox merely have to hope that the Marlins pass on Carlos Perez and they will have a chance to get a guy with a career .280/.365/.395/.760 in the minors. I'd rather they not trade for anyone, take him, re-sign Flowers, and go into camp with 2 of the 3 breaking camp with the Sox. How old is he? Does he have any major league experience?

Your Realistic 2014 Lineup
I'd definitely do 5/125 for Cano

Hahn says trade talks have heated up.
Dioner Navarro to the Jays and writers say he's likely to start with the Jays wanting to trade Arancibia. Not that I want him out anything but we know Hahn has had discussions with the Jays about players. What about Beckham for JP straight up?

2013-14 off season player movement thread
QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 28, 2013 -> 02:53 PM) So Quintana's contract situation would be what exactly right now? Well considering what Chris Sale is at...I assume under that.
-
Rule 5 decisions coming soon
Good see Thompson and Sanchez. Wonder if Jacobs and Wilkins get added?

I like the sound of that

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 06:32 PM) Daryl Von whatever, Sun Times beat writer, was on Kaplan's show and confirmed Dan Hayes' report about everyone being available except Sale, Q, Abreu and Garcia. A GM also told him Reed was basically untouchable as well. It makes sense with Reed. I would have to be blown away with an offer for Reed

Matt Wieters
QUOTE (scs787 @ Nov 13, 2013 -> 12:40 PM) As stated in the other thread(perhaps we can move all take here?) I'd rather just sign Salty if possible. Then trade a pitcher to fill a hole else where. I was the one who brought up Weiters for the sake of argument because we need a catcher. But I agree with this because Weiters has declined the past 2 seasons and getting Salty at 4/40 is a nice piece for what Hahn is trying to build. Then trade Santiago + to get your franchise third baseman.

Weiters has become available per Rosenthal. Has 2 years left and his agent is Boras? Do/Should Sox go after him?

QUOTE (ChiSoxFan05 @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 07:52 PM) Dan Hayes: "What that means is anyone not named Jose Abreu, Avisail Garcia, Sale and Jose Quintana can be acquired in a trade, those executives confirmed." Jose Quintana will be here next year. Just about to post that. Really glad Q is going to be here. He's the perfect #2 behind Sale

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 11, 2013 -> 10:34 AM) I don't think I'd flip Q. I'd build a deal around Hector though. Definitely would not deal Quintana for Rosario. I'd rather trade Santiago and a prospect for Rosario.

QUOTE (scs787 @ Nov 9, 2013 -> 12:27 PM) Not sure if I've already brought up his name yet, but the Mets are said to be "aggressively" shopping Daniel Murphy. I don't know how good he is defensively at 2B but he'd be a pretty good upgrade offensively over Beckham, and he bats left handed. They could really use some OFers, so a deal built around De Aza and Murphy could make some sense(Assuming the Sox want to trade him and can get a new CFer/Lead-off guy in here). Murphy is a career .295/.344/.441 hitter vs RHP(1665 ABs) and he's not that bad vs LHP either, .274/.301/.375 I would definitely like to go after Murphy. I've always liked him. He's still fairly young right?

So much for Bryan Pena. Signs a 2 year deal with the Reds. Going to back up Mesaroco. Hanigan likely to get traded.

Non Tender Candidates
Ok thanks guy for clearing that up for me. Helps a lot
-
Non Tender Candidates
How does a player qualify to be a non tender canidate? I see Tyler Flowers is a non tender canidate for the Sox and there are some pitchers I would be interested in on cheap one year deals with option years. Johnny Venters, and Daniel Hudson I could see the Sox go after I they do get non tendered.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 5, 2013 -> 12:29 PM) Depending on how confident the team is in Webb, you could possibly pull off Santiago/Reed/De Aza for Parra, Owings, and Barrett. You basically have to trade Gordon to someone like the Blue Jays in this scenario. Then you can put Owings at 2B and Semien at 3B. With the Abreu signing, I'm inclined to keep Alexei for one more year. Sox would be offering waaaayyyyyy to much for Parra, Davidson and Barrett....

QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 4, 2013 -> 06:11 PM) That is my point. I don't understand how Balta is trying to change my claims but they are as simple as that. I agree. The players I mentioned I feel like can be the core of the offense. And then just find or develop other player thy fit around them or even become part of the core. Hopefully Thompson an Hawkins figure it out this year in the minors. I trust the Sox to develop pitching. Go after Gatewood at #3 and he can be apart of this in a couple years to replace Alexei.

Your Realistic 2014 Lineup
QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 4, 2013 -> 06:05 PM) I never proposed these moves. I stated several times "in this hypothetical" and said again it was SoxPride's plan. If you look in whatever thread Saltalamachiia is being talked about I am the one voicing caution. Try to stay on topic here: SoxPride proposed the Sox get Lawrie and Salty. All I argued was that in terms of production 2013 C 2013 1B 2013 2B 2013 3B Do you really disagree with that? You can't disagree with that. I feel like the offense would definitely be more competent in theory of course and getting a third basemen of the future and a relatively young catcher still in Salty. In my opinion I think you can build off guys like Garcia, Viciedo, Abreu, Semein, and Lawrie. Adding Salty would be a good complimentary piece while he's still somewhat young.
