  1. First off, I didn't say anything about race or make any comment towards the subjects your broaching. Second off, you should get a better understanding of what you're talking about before saying something like this because the relationship you're trying to make doesn't even exist if you actually took a second to understand the facts of the matter instead of just trying to cram race into a subject that race plays no part it. I trust that you will let this topic/tripe go. Not because it is off-topic, inappropriate and without standing, but rather because you tend to have issues staying on the same topic for consecutive thoughts.
  2. Norris was the prior CBA / DV policy. He was released because he was suspended in September for the remainder of his contract / season. He hit .195 in 2016 & 2017. He was signed by the Tigers a couple months later and released in Spring Training after not making the team. He got another shot.
  3. The dichotomy between the NFL and MLB is interesting. NFL has multiple guys that are stars and huge names in the game that have domestic violence in their past and it is just forgiven. I mean Watson had like 20+ accusers against him and the Browns gave him 250M+ or whatever it was. They made an example of Ray Rice because Goodell got caught lying but past that, DV is nothing more than just a blurb on theses guys' wiki pages once they serve their punishment.
  4. How would he be a distraction? Past being an issue the media will talk about that has nothing to do with baseball. At this point, the Sox cannot release him (by rule) and they guaranteed him 12M this season with his contract being structured to be a value in 2024 if he pitches well in 2023. They will get some fraction of the $12M back depending on his suspension. If he gets 25 games that's ~$1.7M in savings. I would be surprised if the Sox cut him following a suspension like that and then just ate $10M with a hole in the back of the rotation and no viable replacements on the market. It's not as if A.) they can project accurately what the potential savings will and B.) they could effectively replace him. Now if more comes out with this story and the MLB gives him an 81 game suspension, I could see Reinsdorf cutting him lose and making some empty statement via Hahn/Reifert that the organization that has employed and acquired several confirmed domestic abusers during his ownership is above domestic violence.
  5. I don't believe so because typically these incidences often come as a result of a public encounter or a result of the victim trying to secure their own safety. Also, there could be more incidents like Clevinger's that never went public and the MLB never ultimately decided to rule on a punishment. The only reason we know of Clevinger's incident is because his ex just recently consented to the media reporting on the story. Sox have made two made moves in the offseason. I can't imagine Reinsdorf just throwing away one of them and paying for it when he didn't allow any adds away from Clevinger and Benintendi. If you look at all of the recent domestic violence incidents in MLB, provided that the player is still MLB quality, they have almost always received another shot. The exceptions are Bauer and Sam Dyson. While Bauer is probably too early to say I am assuming he'll get the Manfred blackball and Sam Dyson's case had firearms involved in addition to physical, emotional and sexual abuse in his case. Plus Dyson had issues in his past prior to the DV incident and he was an older reliever. Otherwise, German, Urias, Odubel Herrera, Russell, Osuna, Steven Wright, Familia, Jose Reyes, Chapman, etc. all returned to their teams and played after serving their suspensions. There really is no precedent for a team releasing a player after a suspension past Bauer.
  6. Who are the extra 20k people? Is the idea the Sox would sell out Soldier Field when they can't even sell out GRF? Just because there would be more capacity doesn't mean there would be more attendance outside of 3-5 games or so. Regardless, not even worth talking about. Not happening.
  7. I think Clevinger gets 20-40 games and is pitching for the Sox by the end of May. Looking at his case compared to other recent DV incidents, he is not being charged criminally, he is not being pursued civilly, he was not put on administrative leave shortly after the investigation was opened and there are no witnesses to the incident being investigated. It is just a case of he said, she said between (former) partners. When the league has had evidence to the severity of a given DV investigation recently, they have quickly acted putting players on administrative leave (including and not limited to Ozuna, Bauer, German and Carlos Martinez). Clevinger has already pitched for months since this investigation was opened. The most comparable case to me would be Addison Russell and in Russell's case, he took accountability for the allegations made against him. Of course things can change, but as of now, Clevinger's camp is denying the accusations. It is pretty hard to investigate this if you're the MLB (no authorities to cooperate, operating on testimonial evidence almost exclusively) and pretty difficult to punish if you're the Sox (per the DV policy, the MLB is supposed to levy punishment and the team has to consider the possibility for the a grievance from the union). Hopefully this stuff wraps up soon as the MLB has already had over half a year to investigation and to hopefully stop this from being a distraction to the team.
  8. What is it mean to be scared to upgrade the team? Why would he be scared? I am not happy with the offseason and lack of depth additions at 2B and in the outfield but I don't really get this comment.
  9. While I agree that the Sox should cut Leury and keeping him shows that they're not as serious about winning as they could be, but that said, there is no reason to cut him until Spring Training. You never know if you're going to have a few injuries. You're going to be paying him regardless so might as well wait to the last minute.
  10. I know people love to s%*# on the Sox no matter what and a lot of it is warranted but I just don't get why people are making such a deal out of it. The Cubs had a press conference for Tucker Barnhart yesterday. He's a part time catcher who had a .554 OPS last year. The Pirates had a press conference for Vince Velasquez. Why are the Sox getting s%*# for having a presser for a guy who was an all star last year and just signed the biggest contract in Sox history? There are plenty of things to complain about around here. This aint it.
  11. Eloy is not going to be playing RF with any regularity. I would think they would put Benintendi in RF and Eloy in LF if they were going to play Eloy in the field. Figures that some tiny comment from Grifol was the huge takeaway. I think Grifol was more saying Eloy should be ready to play even if he is slated as the DH. It was really a nothing comment to me.
  12. That won't happen without an injury to Romy and no acquisition. Even then, they might start Sosa if Romy weren't on the opening day roster. Leury has been here for a long time but he was no doubt a Tony guy. Check Leury's game logs after Tony left the team. He went from playing 3-4-5 times a week to barely playing at all.
  13. The Jays already have their own Gavin Sheets. They call him Spencer Horwitz. I agree with the pessimism towards the idea of the Sox cutting bait with Leury. The hope is they treat him like Jeff Keppinger who they cut before he made an appearance in year 2 of his 3/12 deal. That said, Garcia is a sunk cost. If Reinsdorf is the great businessman who wants to win as much as anyone like we are told, he would cut his losses on a player who decreases the club's chances of winning.
  14. Hahn basically said they are trying to add at 2B. Of course he hedged in saying it wasn't entirely necessary. I would hope they're getting some sort of LH bat who can play 2B and another spot on the diamond or two. Eduardo Escobar just seems like the guy they end up with. Cavan Biggio is a good fit. Nick Gordon seems like a Sox type and they were rumored to be on him but obviously complicated with the Twins and I am not sure that Gordon is a good player. Thinking outside the box, the Pirates have glut of middle infield prospects and obviously have Oneil Cruz entrenched at SS. I would love to take a look at one of their MLB ready guys in Rodolfo Castro or Ji Hwan Bae. I look at Castro as a young Escobar and I think Bae has some nice upside. Bae might end up on more in the outfield and they may keep Escobar due to his switch hitting and positional flexibility. In any case, Cruz is obviously going to play. Pirates just took Termarr Johnson who will be a 2B fourth overall. While he has time to mature and they wouldn't necessarily make 2023 roster moves with him in mind, both Nick Gonzalez and Liover Peguero are top five prospects in their system and both will be MLB ready in 2023 playing 2B and SS.
  15. There only guy on that list that the Sox should consider being untouchable is Montgomery. Vera hasn't even pitched so he's not going to be in trade talks. Rodriguez has cratered his value with his poor start. Sanchez is probably a utility guy.
  16. I like Wilfred Veras. Sucks he has to be relegated to first already because of Kath.
  17. Don't forget his kooky camera tactics like jumping in front of the camera every chance he gets saying "Hi mom!"

Yeah good points here. The battery backup with a double sump pump is peace of mind.

Re-check your hot water heater, furnace, etc. and put together a schedule of when they may need to be replaced and budget for it. Furnaces have filters that need to be changed monthly. Washing machines have also have filters that need to be cleaned.
  20. Where’d i say I was 12 and played them head to head? You’re full of shit. Your posts show that.
  21. Fathom you terrible person. How dare you look at the facts to make your conclusions. You should live in Ray Ray’s bizzaro world where you ignore rules and facts that don’t support what would align with your misguided worldview.
  22. Because that’s what I said? I didn’t say the incident was a good look. Heyman’s a dumbass. I’m not sure why he has any relevance in this. He’s like the lone media with this take. To act as if Heyman has any influence on anything is foolhardy.
  23. Do you know any black people? Because if you did, you would realize that there is not one black kid in America who gives a fuck what Jon Heyman has to say. Not that your LLWS tangent is relevant, it is wrong. The Jackie Robinson West stuff was in no ways unfair treatment. Not sure why they should be exempt from the rules all other teams have to abide by. My travel team played JRW all the time growing up and everyone I played with was really confused on how they put their team together given where all the kids were from before the scandal was revealed. Everybody locally knew that their team was breaking the rules. It was the worst kept secret. And there have been teams from Georgia and Taiwan that have been eliminated/stripped/suspended because of using players from outside of their districts. You're putting the cart in front of the horse with your narrative.
  24. I can't imagine how much Kelly would talk if his results were actually good and not dogshit.
