Twins are going to be adding payroll. Their projected payroll right now is $92.5M after $150M or so last season. They have plenty of $ to spend. I'd much rather it go to Swanson than Correa.

Yeah, it was floated yesterday that they're trying to get him to agree to monster AAVs on a shorter term deal. With Giants missing out on Judge, have to imagine they're very motivated on Correa now.

Xander to BOS, and Correa to LAD/SF leaving by far the worst of the three in Dansby for the Twins to overpay seems like a W for the Sox.

Yeah, but a lot of teams didn't do jack squat this week. The biggest player added to the AL Central was Josh Bell.. I am surprised there was not a single trade of note though.

I am not saying he's not replaceable - I would have non-tendered him myself purely for the roster flexibility. But this guy you're grabbing #15 in the Rule 5 isn't going to better than Ruiz is right now, and the Sox quite literally have no one to option except Lambert who was pretty darn good out of the pen last year. The Sox also probably have one the better bullpens in the game, tbh.

I totally get skipping on the pitching. The Sox have to carry this guy on the MLB roster and they quite literally have no room on the pitching side. Not grabbing a guy to compete for the 4th OF spot, or even the quasi-catcher/OF makes little sense.

And run a 6 man rotation?

Yeah, I guess my 2nd team is always whoever the Twins are playing. Having spent most of my life in MN and all my friends being Twins fans, that is my other way of consuming baseball.

As frustrating as being a Sox fan can be, I would never even consider changing my fandom. Its in my blood. For better or worse.
