  1. I think Brantley would be a perfectly acceptable 2nd move, like you suggested. If you bring in Conforto + Brantley or Gallo + Brantley, it makes much more sense because if/when Brantley gets hurt, now you have Colas to fill the gap. If Brantley is the primary addition, he's like option #6 or #7 for me. I also would be shocked if the Sox signed two FA OF to deals > $10M AAV.
  2. Yes. I hate Tony with a passion. He was quite literally as bad as possible. I am convinced some middle school baseball coach with a decent knowledge of the roster could have done a better job managing the team. Was not meant as defending Tony in the slightest.
  3. He has already said he wants to just release Grandal. Just dumping Grandal makes little sense unless you can offload more than a few million of his deal on someone else. If you're paying Grandal $18.25 (or close) regardless, you may as well bring him into ST and see if he can be productive and healthy as a part time player. While you can never put too much stock in offseason puff pieces, it does sound like his knees are doing better and he's working hard on getting healthy.
  4. Yeah, I think it is a mix of a health and Tony telling the guys not to over-do it. I think Luis may have taken that directive the wrong way defensively. I have a feeling that will change in 2023. I will say, Robert did take a bit step back defensively in 21 post-injury versus 20 IMO. I will admit that is mostly just from the "eye test", but he was far less aggressive following the hip injury in 21. So he put up those value numbers in 21 while not playing anywhere near as good of defense as he did in 20. Things fell off again in 22. We know he has the ability to be a plus defender in CF. We definitely need to see that again as opposed to whatever TF saw in 2022.
  5. I think you absolutely have to go for it 2023. You can reassess after 2023. The positive is that, while not trying to be morbid, if the Sox were to strip it down after 23 or 24, and got thru a multiple year rebuild, by the time they're trying to contend again there is better than a decent chance JR is no longer running the White Sox.
  6. There is no scenario I would trade Luis Robert right now. If he goes out and plays 145 games at the pace he was on in 2021, and he's a 7 fWAR player. Perhaps the most valuable player in the game at that point. He's controlled for 5 more seasons. There is no rush to move him coming off whatever that 2nd half of 2022 was.
  7. Joe Kelly definitely didn’t have a good season but the arm is there and k I wouldn’t be surprised in the least if he was a solid backend member of the pen in 23. Overpaid? Ya, sure. But he definitely became one of the TLR scapegoats for the fan base.
  8. I think $168M is the correct figure. That counts Pollock and Harrison’s buyout for 22, and Clevingers for 23. But definitely isn’t a consensus on how exactly to account the buyouts. I think just assuming $170ish is safe.
  9. That is not usually how mutual options work. Would be fantastic if Hahn was able to convince Clevengers representation To do that though.
  10. They can at least use it as a means to convince Jerry to spend more haha.
  11. Varsho would be a fun addition to this team. He wouldn’t come cheap tho.
  12. https://www.soxtalk.com/forums/topic/113983-rule-5-draft-preview/
  13. A downgrade, and more expensive. Makes no sense unless some other team really, really wants Gio at 1/$10.5M.
  14. Not to mentioned with an org that has literally no upper minors SP depth. Trading Lucas continues to make absolutely no sense.
  15. If Sox trade AV, let Abreu walk and then turn around and give Josh Bell 3/$48M. Oh my.
  16. Then what are you doing about the gaping hole in the rotation? I’ll hang up a listen.
  17. While I continue to think this rumor is absolute BS, Kepler would be better all around option than any LH FA OF not named Nimmo. Conforto is close, but I’ll give Kepler the slight nod for the Sox as he’s a worlds better defender. So while I highly doubt this deal has any traction and that MN would hand Kepler over to the Sox, he does continue to make a ton of sense.
  18. There is very little chance this team is under .500 come July tho. Just Parkman managing expectations in his own head.
  19. Yeah, I’d rather just spend Jerry’s money. Montgomery and Colas should be off limits. Colas is our own internal solution to a decade+ long problem and Montgomery is the exact type of profile we need more of. But you won’t be able to get Reynolds without at least one of those two, and for that reason, I’m out.
  20. $1.2M per start in the very unlikely event he makes 32 starts in a season.
