I am not that hopeful. But there certainly is still a path. Requires this team to string together a streak they haven't done all season, so all skepticism is warranted. But the Guardians and Twins stink, too.

Gio has been OK lately. 6 of last 8 starts have been solid, with the Houston stinker sprinkled in and the other tough outing against Cleveland facing them for a 2nd time in a week. Sox are 5-3 in his last 8 starts. Considering how disappointing his season has been, you take that.

Sox need to rattle off some wins over the next 10 (1 at BAL, 3 vs. AZ, 3 vs. KC and 3 vs. a reeling MN club). 7-3 between today and week from Sunday should get them within spitting distance of the Guardians (4 at SEA, 3. vs. BAL, 3 vs. SEA) before heading out on a 7 game west coast trip in Seattle and Oakland. Not sure you can do any worse than 7-3. For example, Sox go 6-4 and CLE goes 5-5, still 3 back (4 with tiebreaker) with 28 to play. Gets awfully tough at that point unless CLE collapses. It's do or die time. We definitely should be rooting for the M's to kick the Guardians butts the next 10 days, but that also would probably take the WC out of play, if it isn't already (probably is).

Yeah, see in a sample size guy. I’ll take the larger sample size of .760 OPS versus the smaller sample size of him looking terrible. This season doesn’t mean jack shit once next season starts. I get why people are down on him, but even if want to assume he’s a .650 OPS bat moving forward he’s still an above average player. If he starts hitting again, suddenly you have a 3+ WAR player again.

I don’t think 2022 Yoan is guaranteed to be the Yoan moving forward. He’s got a career .760 OPS. He’s an amazing defender. He’s in his prime. He has all the talent in the world. He’ll be fine.

He’s an awful LF. We badly need to improve defensively next season. Getting Eloy out of the field permanently and AV to 1B or traded is an enormous step in that direction.

His career OPS is .760. Yoan will be fine. Brutal season, but he’ll be fine.

I don’t think Robert is moving from CF anytime soon. Nimmo and Colas in the corners by June next season is a good plan by me.

He’ll never be unplayable because he’s an elite 3B of a team full of DHs. Positional versatility is irrelevant for Yoan.
