I honestly think quite the opposite. This game was over anyway. Watching a position player is mildly entertaining in an otherwise shit stain of a game. Wasting an arm that could be used tomorrow would have been a travesty at that point. I do like the idea of a team getting 3 mercy rules per season tho. Obviously would suck for the fans in attendance but would be an interesting add in the future imo. Would save bullpens.

That's....not how the 40 man works. Aybar or Severino would both be easy cuts. Cannot believe they've last this long. Crick could maybe be added to that list as well. He's out of options and won't be able to be shuttled between AAA and MLB next season so he's good as gone this offseason.

Would you prefer the Sox have called up Haseley on Saturday just to watch Tony play him every other day for the 10 days Luis is out? IF there was any chance of Luis not needing close to 10 days, he shouldn't be on the IL. Right or wrong, I honestly believe part of the reason for the Sox playing shorthanded several times this season on the position player side (ie: not ILing borderline injuries) is the simple fact of not giving Tony extraneous guys to overplay. The FO would rather play with a 3 man bench than call up a shitty player to watch Tony bat him 2nd in the lineup. This is a real concern.

Yeah he’s been bad lately tho. Terrible at bats and lots of uncharacteristic defensive lapses.
