There isn’t a single good reason to bring Colas to the big leagues before late April 2023. By the time he’s a FA, if he’s still holding a grudge from a non call up in 2022 when he was hardly even a top 100 prospect, there are bigger issues at play. Now, peak stupidity would be to not bring him up this season, and then put him on the OD roster in 23, I will give you that.

Calling up Colas right now would be extremely stupid. Just wait until May. Its not that complicated. Plus, September rosters are just plus 2 guys now. Foster will be back. Bummer and Leury are coming back. Burger is probably coming back. Martin on Saturday. There really isn't room for extraneous guys. Probably isn't even room for Romy.

I am not that hopeful. But there certainly is still a path. Requires this team to string together a streak they haven't done all season, so all skepticism is warranted. But the Guardians and Twins stink, too.

Gio has been OK lately. 6 of last 8 starts have been solid, with the Houston stinker sprinkled in and the other tough outing against Cleveland facing them for a 2nd time in a week. Sox are 5-3 in his last 8 starts. Considering how disappointing his season has been, you take that.

Sox need to rattle off some wins over the next 10 (1 at BAL, 3 vs. AZ, 3 vs. KC and 3 vs. a reeling MN club). 7-3 between today and week from Sunday should get them within spitting distance of the Guardians (4 at SEA, 3. vs. BAL, 3 vs. SEA) before heading out on a 7 game west coast trip in Seattle and Oakland. Not sure you can do any worse than 7-3. For example, Sox go 6-4 and CLE goes 5-5, still 3 back (4 with tiebreaker) with 28 to play. Gets awfully tough at that point unless CLE collapses. It's do or die time. We definitely should be rooting for the M's to kick the Guardians butts the next 10 days, but that also would probably take the WC out of play, if it isn't already (probably is).
