They could afford to fuck around with Collins at catcher then. I will say this - if Collins bat sticks and he can be a passable MLb catcher, that is one hell of an asset.

Obviously not, but he’s gonna cost a lot more than Walker. Maybe that three way with the Pirates where the Sox give up Stiever + Collins + Walker. I’d do that for Nimmo, who has been my guy for months but lost faith Mets would move him. Pirates do want that catcher. Then DH opens for a cheap 1 year masher like EE and all of sudden you got a good looking offense.

Rutherford is never going to make it before the Sox have to remove him from the 40 man. Carson is out of options and has no chance to survive the first month of the season - and is probably a long shot to head north with the team. Its trading nothing for something. Giving up Steele Walker is completely different. Put him in a package for some SP.
