  1. I too would like to keep Rondon around. I think the fact that he doesn't have an option gives him a decent chance of sticking. The Sox talked about getting him some OF playing time in winter ball - seems that was more talk than action. He has primarily played 3B in winter ball - 208 innings at 3B, 11 at 2B, 19 in LF, 1 in CF, and 22 at SS. He's also been pretty dreadful with the bat in winter ball. 119 PA, .213/.269/.315 slashline - 2 homers, 5 doubles, 15 RBI, 0 steals, 8/18 BB/K ratio.
  2. I mean I think its pretty fair to say that tweet was rather cryptic and hinting......buuuuut could have just been wishful thinking on his part.
  3. Lol, no messenger being killed. Just looking for something to discuss.
  4. Really no reason for the Twins not to be in the race for either guy as well. They're in a similar payroll situation to the White Sox, though their young players will be hitting arb a couple years before ours. Would be a deviation from their norm to be in play for major FA, but obviously same can be said for the Sox.
  5. Nats, Cubs, Cardinals and even Dodgers don't make much sense. Always thought teams like the Padres, Twins, Brewers, and Angels could jump in if the market tanked that much. But I don't really see any of those teams being a player at the $250M range except for maybe the Padres. Braves would have made some sense before the Donaldson signing.
  6. GIVE HIM THE HAMMER!
  7. It is super easy. Click your user name profile in top right corner. Go to ignored users. Type in peavy44. Problem solved. Your life will be better because of it.
  8. And that people he knows who do have inside sources are very confident - could just be Bucket, WSD, Rabbit, etc., - or maybe he has heard more.
  9. Truly is a difference maker. It will make your day better.
  10. Gillaspie is not on the 40 man. So probably not him.
  11. What’s everyones thoughts on the chances right now? I’d go White Sox 80%, Yankees/Phillies 18, field 2%. Feeling like they’re just hammering out final details at this point.
  12. Where do you think the Phillies stand in all of this? Rumor earlier today that they plan to up their offer to Manny this week. We know that Manny apparently prefers Chicago to Philly, and I am sure playing with 3 of his closest friends helps the Sox as well. But if the Phillies come in and offer like 8/$300M - he still probably signs there, right?
  13. Welcome! Did you have a beef for lunch?
  14. Everyone just block him. Problem solved.
  15. He just mentioned in a podcast (assuming RLR?) this morning.
  16. The White Sox press release called it a "$10M club option with a $1M buyout", so sounds like the talk of it potentially being a vesting option were incorrect.
  17. Jesus thought someone died reading this without context.
  18. In other news, who do we think is DFA'd or outrighted for Herrera and Jay? I am going with Tilson and Clarkin. Edit: Sounds like Clarkin just went for Herrera. So Tilson is my guess!
  19. Just stop watching him. That will solve your problem. He's a Yankees fan and is of course going to support them signing on the best 10 players in the game.
  20. No. 7 years and $245M is $35M in average annual value (AAV). That would be the highest AAV ever given to a player in the history of baseball. It is not a weak offer, and that has nothing to do with what the Yankees offer is.
  21. It would make him the richest player on an AAV basis in the history of baseball.
  22. He (somehow) has legitimate sources.
  23. The latest report that they're upping their offer to Machado this week certainly doesn't indicate that the Phillies are out of the race.
  24. This shit needs to end.
  25. Let's see how it shakes out. I think we're getting MM, but even if we don't, I don't think this team is in any worse scenario than we were yesterday at this time. Engel getting less at bats is a win. We got one of the best 2 or 3 CF options on the FA market for nothing on a short term commitment. I personally don't think those $4M (or Alonso's $9M) were going to be set aside directly for future spending. I also would be surprised if Alonso is on the roster June 1st if Machado does not sign here. In fact, I think he's likely traded before the season if that is the case to open DH up for Palka.
