  1. Yah, Sox aren't gonna take on $10M+ for a guy that is going to unavailable for most of the season, if he's able to play at all, unless the Yankees want to hand over someone like Florial, which they won't.
  2. What does that accomplish for the Sox?
  3. I doubt the Sox non tender Leury regardless of an Escobar reunion or not.
  4. Anderson, Moncada, Giolito, Lopez, at least half the bullpen, and to a lesser extent Rodon, are all young guys that are going to be a part of the next core, and they're all in the big leagues and all at some point need to learn how to win games.
  5. Lol - because that is the point of playing baseball???? I too think next year is another rebuilding season, especially after the Kopech news, but at some point this organization needs to try to start putting a decent product on the field for the younger guys to start learning how to win. I highly doubt the Sox suddenly don't value on base skills because they're probably going to suck again next season. I'd much prefer McCutchen to Avi, even if the price difference is around $5M next season. I don't think he's going to be a top target for the Sox, but again, its not the worst fit in the world if the Sox decide they don't want Nicky Delmonico and/or Ryan Cordell manning a corner all season.
  6. Depends on what you think McCutchen is going to get paid. His last two seasons are pretty solid and he's actually managed to stay on the field: .279/.363/.486 OPS+ 123 255/.368/.424 OPS+ 118 Again, not a huge proponent of adding McCutchen, but if he's only marginally more expensive than Avi (say $10-13M AAV range), I'd much prefer him on a 1+1 type deal to Avi. We needs guys that get on base, and he does that.
  7. I am not in the McCutchen camp at all, but he does still get on base a ton, so there are definitely worse options if its an affordable and short-term deal.
  8. Right. I just think it is pretty likely Delmonico is the OD LF, and will play there until Eloy takes his spot. I hope the Sox sign Pollock and go with a something like a Leury-Pollock-Palka(and then Eloy) alignment, but I won't believe it until i see it.
  9. Lol, and that's a pretty big argument.
  10. Its possible, but hte only way I see that happening is if the Sox sign a FA OF or two. Who is your starting LF and RF until Eloy comes up? I assume Delmonico will be in LF until Eloy comes up, at which point he likely goes to Charlotte.
  11. Be prepared to be disappointed then. You're already talking about not having enough guys in the OF that you'd retain Avi at $8M for one worthless season, why the heck would the Sox dump one of the actual playable options they have out there? There is plenty of fat to cut off the 40 man, and admittedly, I don't think Delmonico is going to on the next winning Sox team, but they aren't going to cut bait yet.
  12. There is basically a 0% chance Delmonico isn't on the White Sox to open 2019 unless he's hurt, or someone decides they want to give up an asset for him. He has an option left, and will be with the Sox. Tilson probably gets DFA's to free 40 man space in the next 45-60 days.
  13. Between Delmonico, Engel, Palka, Cordell, Tilson (who I bet doesn't survive the winter), and even Rondon, there are plenty of guys to cover the outfield before and after Eloy's arrival. May as well give those guys more opporunities than running Avi out there for no reason other than refusing to move on from a sunk cost.
  14. Grandal is a good catcher, and he would certainly help. There just isn't really a fit. No reason to spend the big dollars it will require to sign Grandal when you're already going to have to ship away a capable MLB catcher in either Castillo or Smith.
  15. While I personally wouldn't be against this route, I highly doubt it happens. I expect them to explore Machado market, and I hope like hell they go after Pollock because he'd be a great fit in CF for next season or two and can move to a corner if needed in 2020 or 2021. But I HIGHLY doubt we see the Sox go after McCutchen, and we already have 3 capable major leauge catchers, so doubt the Sox go after Grandal.
  16. Abreu almost certainly will get a QO offer after 2019 unless he has a disastrous season. At this point, I'd rather give OF at bats to Delmonico, Leury, Engel and Cordell than Avi. Hell, even Rondon if the news of him playing the OF is for real. And obviously Eloy is taking over RF by May. I think we see an alignment of Delmonico, Engel, Palka/Cordell/FA/whoever, until Eloy comes up. Obviously adding a real FA OF helps. I see basically no upside to keeping Avi. Even if he puts together another 2017, you aren't getting anything of value for him. Just move on.
  17. Ryan LaMarre is a 30 year old journeyman with a career .238/.283/.322 slashline (albeit in a fairly limited number of ML plate appearances). He's played for 5 major league teams in 4 seasons. He is definition of a AAAA fodder and at best an injury fill-in for a couple weeks at the major league level. His solid 71 plate appearance sample with the Sox doesn't change any of that. Cordell really struggled this season after being injured for the majority of the past 2 seasons. But he actually has some upside and versatility, and was in demand across the league as recently as last winter. The Sox may not keep Cordell around (I think thye will), but they aren't going to remove him from the 40 man to keep Ryan LaMarre.
  18. A few people in this thread have said they want him gone....
  19. Not sure, interesting question.
  20. There is basically a 0% chance that Ruiz and Vieria are "gone". They may not be with the Sox to start 2018, but barring trade, will most definitely be in the organization as both were just added to the 40 man this year and have plenty of options. Cordell and Tilson are borderline and could go either way. I'd be shocked if LaMarre is in the organization come the Winter Meetings. This guy is not a long term piece, and while he was decent with the Sox this year, there is no reason to keep him around IMO. Also, DelmonicO has at least 1 option left, so he definitely isn't getting "released".
  21. I would add guys like Anderson, Giolito, Lopez, Rodon and some of the young pen arms, because if those guys never develop into consistently good and well-rounded players, this thing is never going anywhere.
  22. No. He was added in May. Just the beginning of the 40 man purge.
  23. A 1st baseman?
  24. Are those the consensus top 3 right now?
  25. Engel and Moncada also in the top 25. Interesting to see Semien at #3.
