  1. Disagree heavily on the bolded. Cease is pushing it, hence the "perhaps even". I full expect to see Burdi right away next season, and could definitely see Collins and Dunning by mid season.
  2. I draw the line at 2019. I expect this team to try and turn the page and actually start to teach this team how to win baseball games. Once a few weeks pass in 2019, I fully expect and hope to see Kopech and Eloy up for good, and I'd like to see other real prospects Dunning, Collins, Burdi and perhaps even Cease figuring into the 2019 plans as well at some point.
  3. A few things: -Eloy and Kopech may be pissed that they were kept down longer than they felt they deserved. But this organization owns their right for 6 seasons. If they want to make it big playing baseball, they'll get over it. -Oh like the Cubs with Bryant? That really affected their ability to attract free agents. Money speaks, and money is what gets FAs. -2024 and 2025 should certainly matter, and are very much the backend of what appears to be a strong 5-7 year window for the Sox. As a fan, I am happy to wait for Kopech and Eloy in a season that we're on pace for less than 50 wins if it means we have them for an extra season when we actually are trying to win baseball games and compete for championships. -We more than likely aren't getting the Kyle Tuckers and Gleybor Torres (yes, I know he was an intl FA) without being terrible. I don't think Kopech and Eloy are going to suddenly turn this team into a .500 club, but they will add some wins, and it is very, very important that the Sox add one more elite talent to this group with the 2019 draft. This season is already toast - may as well get the #1 pick out of the deal.
  4. 40% of the posters that have voted feel that way. Its not a few peoples takes. I personally would much rather have them for 162 games in 2025 than 50-70 games in a lost season where one more elite talent could be added to this crop of players for the 2020-2025 window. I don't think those 50-70 games in 2018 are going to make any measurable difference for Eloy or Kopech's ability to be all-star caliber players while under the control of the Sox.
  5. Just curious...how exactly is a damaging?? The White Sox own these guys for their first 6 big league seasons. They can be as pissed as they want at the organization, but its their career, and me thinks they care a bit more about becoming major league baseball stars than pissed off at their organization. Eloy will go to AAA soon. When he does, if he continues to rake, it will be hard to keep him down all season. It will be interesting to see what happens. I think its pretty clear that Kopech still has some stuff to work on. He most certainly is capable of pitching in the bigs right now, and is likely our best pitcher, but he isn't a finished product - his walk rate is still up there, and his 3.86 ERA in AAA isnt setting the world on fire (yes I realize a lot of that is one start).
  6. Palka deserves the at bats he is getting. His current OPS+ is 126. Guy is absolutely terrible in the OF, but I see no reason to stop giving him at bats right now.
  7. I want to see Stephens in Chicago, like now. He'll be 26 in September. Let's see what we have before the rotation spots get harder to come by in the next couple seasons.
  8. Supposed to be released today. Look forward to seeing the movers on the Sox.
  9. I see basically no good reason to call up Eloy or Kopech this season. I understand that you can make an argument that Eloy is ready, and Kopech for that matter, but this season is toast. We're already wasting valuable service time on Moncada and others. Just do this thing the right way, get another year of control on the backend when it matters instead of now when it doesn't, and secure the #1 pick in the meantime. Get serious about actually putting a product on the field that con compete on nightly basis in 2019.
  10. Fulmer and Giolito, and it is not close.
  11. I don't think the bullpen is good. But, like I said, as of Sunday or Monday, they had a top 3 bullpen era in the past 5-6 weeks. I saw it in a tweet from a reputable source, can't recall who, and don't have the time or energy to find it. I suspect the Indians series also put a dent in that numbe.r
  12. I am fully in the boat of letting this ship sink. I see no reason to let Eloy or Kopech play an inning prior to late next April. Start getting serious about this team learning how to win in 2019. Keep letting the AAAA trash, and fringe prospects, sink or swim at the MLB level in the meantime. I want the #1 pick.
  13. As of a few days ago, the Sox bullpen had one of the best ERA's in the game over the past month.
  14. This is never going to happen.
  15. Kevan Smith off DL in Charlotte. Have to imagine he'll be in Chicago by Friday.
  16. Yah, I agree. I think it has more to do with their ability to pitch a few innings, and the fact that they've both been decent, especially Volstad.
  17. I don't think Cedeno or Gomez have any value either, but I'd definitely make that change once Hector is back in the pen for good.
  18. Yoan isn't really going to be in the running unless he gets hot again before the break. He's been icy since his return from the DL, and the numbers have dipped quite a bit.
  19. any update on Rodon today?
  20. ChiSox59 replied to ron883's topic in Pale Hose Talk
He looked good, and at this juncture, I'd keep running him out there every 5th day.
  21. A few weeks ago I was in the boat of just letting him take him lumps against major leaguers. But at this point, I'd be open to sending him down and let him work on things at Charlotte. He just doesn't have it right now. IIRC, Giolito was entirely terrible the first 1.5-2 months in AAA last season, and then something clicked. Hopefully something similar happens this season.
  22. Gio has one option left though, no?
  23. While I know you're just kidding, it would be entirely awesome to watch a regular try to catch. At this point, this season is a clown show anyhow - it'd be quite entertaining. Can we trade for Tyler Saladino and throw him back there?
  24. I've asked you this before, and you didn't answer. Who else do you suggest they call up? AAA is barren with young talent and calling up Eloy at this point is idiotic. So please...inform us who GM Greensox would give the nod to!
