  1. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ May 28, 2017 -> 09:16 PM) Well a 20-25 HR guy with an .800+ OPS is never going to be the worst player in a given lineup- probably one of the best. Personally I'd love a Delmonico/Davidson Corner combo with Abreu at DH/Backup 1B. Add in Good Frazier and I dunno where any of these guys are going to play. And then Yolmer and Saladino too? Glad I'm not Hahn or Rick this July. Delmonico cannot and will not play 3B regularly at the major league level.
  2. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 26, 2017 -> 10:59 AM) And to excitement of many, could get them Beer. Isn't Beer considered to be more like a mid first rounder at this point?
  3. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 25, 2017 -> 04:25 PM) Volberg is my guess Volstad? It's Danish, and it's a stupid move. No reason for no Lopez.
  4. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 25, 2017 -> 03:22 PM) It probably won't be a player we might want to see. Also when Covey goes on DL Shields might be ready to come off Like? No reason not to give the start to Lopez tomorrow.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 25, 2017 -> 10:12 AM) Who is on schedule to pitch then? Lopez last pitched on Sunday, so he could pitch tomorrow for sure.
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 25, 2017 -> 01:14 PM) Yes. Name cereals....Caulfield: Captain Crunch, Cocoa Puffs, Rice Krispies, Fruity Pepples, pepples reminds me of the Flintstones, which brings me to the question do you know the difference between people in Dubai and people in Abu Dhabi? People in Dubai don't like the Flintstones. People in Abu Dhabi do. Well done. I laughed.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 25, 2017 -> 07:22 AM) I would bet the odds of that are pretty high. It might not be announced until the day his slot is due to start again because of service time considerations. They could call up Lopez tomorrow as the 26th man, send him back down, and call him back up next Wednesday for good (no 10 day return rule with the 26th man). By next Wednesday, the Sox will have gained the extra year of control. Sunday is the cutoff day, it becomes Monday if he spends Friday on the roster.
  8. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ May 25, 2017 -> 09:34 AM) He has one more start this month and basically 2 full months until the deadline. I think he will be fine. This. Q's ERA will be back in the 3s before too long. Yesterday was a bummer, but the Sox still hold the cards. That is the beauty of controlling him through 2020. Q's contract is already past the point of diminishing returns and the Sox could probably get the same value for him in July 2018 as they could this summer. Hahn isn't going to take less than what he wants.
  9. QUOTE (bmags @ May 24, 2017 -> 01:13 PM) Honest opinion is sox are going to get way less than we expected on Q. He won't get traded then.
  10. QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ May 24, 2017 -> 01:36 PM) Wasn't Keith Law a pro scout for the Blue Jays when they were f***ing terrible? If he is a top-tier talent evaluator, wouldn't/shouldn't he be doing it professionally for a major league team, even at the executive level given his age/experience? If I had to listen to that guys voice everyday, I'd want to kick dogs, and I adore dogs.
  11. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ May 24, 2017 -> 12:49 PM) I don't think he basically said that. I think all he was gonna say was something along the lines of, "are scouts sometimes biased due to their teams' potential on landing a player?". I was referring to Law. He basically said that he was offended that Chuck would ask him if the scouts were basically lying to Law, and he fell for it. In any event, Law came off as a real jagbag in my opinion.
  12. QUOTE (shipps @ May 24, 2017 -> 10:31 AM) Can someone explain to me what was Law thinking that Garfien was insinuating? Or what WAS Garfien insinuating? I am confused, like usual. I think Law was moreso mad that he felt Garfien was insinuating that Law only talked to scouts with teams that couldn't sign Robert, and therefore was more critical of his ability, and that Law couldn't see through the BS. Basically that Law got bad info and that he was gullible enough to believe it. He basically said that.
  13. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ May 23, 2017 -> 08:15 PM) We desperately need a good first baseman that can hit and field well. Meh. I am the guy that said I'd love to get Reed as a third or 4th piece of a Q deal (and I would), but 1B is a fairly easy thing to fill via FA when you're ready to compete.
  14. Never want to see a guy get hurt, but this is best case scenario. Throw him on the DL and bring him back in August as the mop up man.
  15. Put him on the DL and spare us all. When is Lopez service time date? Sometime early June?
  16. QUOTE (yesterday333 @ May 23, 2017 -> 05:02 PM) I think a fair package from Houston would be Tucker, Fisher, one of (Paulino, Whitley, or Perez) and somebody in their 20-30 range. There are some really interesting pieces in there. Would still love to get AJ Reed in there somewhere if possible.
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 23, 2017 -> 03:17 PM) I'd love to bet Keith Law something worthwhile. I take Robert, he's got Tatis Jr. player with the best career WAR wins. I bet him $100 that Tatis Jr never accumulates more than 2 WAR in an MLB season. Bastard didn't respond to my tweet.
  18. Interested to see how Robert fares once he starts in Kanny. I wouldn't be all that surprised if he makes it to the big leagues before 2020, if he is as good as some experts say he is. But until that happens, everything is pure conjecture.
  19. We have a ton of arms. If you can't get Robles unless you include Burdi with Robertson, you do that all day long. Between Fulmer, Giolito, Kopech, Hansen and Lopez, at least one of those guys is probably going to end up in the pen, and likely as a closer. If Burdi gets you one of the best position player prospects in the game along w Robertson, that is exactly the type of trade the Sox should be looking at, considering the arms they have in their system.
  20. QUOTE (hi8is @ May 21, 2017 -> 08:40 PM) Awful Article Don't even think the pic he used is Robert.
  21. QUOTE (bmags @ May 21, 2017 -> 07:46 PM) I don't know I kinda like Ward but obviously can't speak to Lazardo. He's hitting with an .800 OPS in AA now. Good power. Way better than the Robertson for Severino swap. Ward would be a fine piece, but not the main one. Lazardo hasn't pitched this year due to TJS.
  22. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 21, 2017 -> 07:43 PM) If the Nats owner blocked that, he messed up. Wouldn't be surprised if it was Jerry. "Rick, if I am eating $13M, get me some real prospects."
  23. Nightengale reporting that the Nats Robertson deal that fizzled out at management level this past winter was Nick Ward and Jesus Luzardo with the Sox picking up half the tab on Robertson. I think they can don better than that now .
