Yah, I agree. I think it has more to do with their ability to pitch a few innings, and the fact that they've both been decent, especially Volstad.

I don't think Cedeno or Gomez have any value either, but I'd definitely make that change once Hector is back in the pen for good.

Yoan isn't really going to be in the running unless he gets hot again before the break. He's been icy since his return from the DL, and the numbers have dipped quite a bit.

He looked good, and at this juncture, I'd keep running him out there every 5th day.

A few weeks ago I was in the boat of just letting him take him lumps against major leaguers. But at this point, I'd be open to sending him down and let him work on things at Charlotte. He just doesn't have it right now. IIRC, Giolito was entirely terrible the first 1.5-2 months in AAA last season, and then something clicked. Hopefully something similar happens this season.

At this point, both Thompson and Engel are quite safe on the MLB roster. There is legit no one to take their spots.

That's a fair point. I just really respect Vizquel as a player and felt he had the intangibles to be a good manager. That being said, I have watched exactly 0 innings of WS this season and can't speak to his management abilities at all. Look, I'd love a younger seasoned MLB manager. But those don't exactly grow on trees, and the good ones usually aren't available.

Omar Vizquel would be pretty cool. Rick seems like a great guy and someone I wouldn't mind having around as bench coach, but I hope the Sox upgrade when they're ready to compete.

Who, exactly? Charlie Tilson and his OPS in the .550s is the only guy on that Charlotte roster with a potential MLB future. Tito Polo maybe next in line, but he's been pretty bad in AA this year. There are no good OF in the Sox upper minors, and I really prefer not to see Eloy this year.

We are scary short on any sort of OF in the upper minors. No outfielder besides Tilson on that Charlotte roster will ever have any business on a major league roster. I suspect we'll see Saunders in Chicago before Delmonico and Avi are back.

Totally agreed. I am not trading him for peanuts. But I think Hahn could get someone to give something worthwhile for 1.75-1.50 seasons of Jose. If not, may as well just hold onto him.
