  1. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Apr 12, 2017 -> 02:53 PM) I'm really hoping Saladino continues to put up good numbers. He's not off the charts but he seems pretty serviceable as a 5th infielder (post Moncada callup) What were we expecting from him organizationally before last year? Love the avatar pic! Well done.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 12, 2017 -> 02:30 PM) What a pathetic lineup. What a pathetic baseball team. Wonder what Vegas odds are tonight. It's got to be Cleveland -350? -400? Simple. Tune back in in 2019.
  3. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Apr 12, 2017 -> 12:38 PM) Why is Cleveland starting both of these night games an hour early? 6pm isn't* that strange of a start time, I suppose. FAR FAR FAR FAR FAR better than another damn day game.
  4. Why such an early game?
  5. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Apr 11, 2017 -> 04:51 PM) The cubs have moved Happ around between LF, RF and 2B since drafting him. IIRC, Happ played RF in college so he's no stranger to playing the OF. You have a point with Candelerio at third but I don't know what the future holds at third with Davidson, Delmonico and Saladino as the potential heirs to Frazier. I'd like to throw Candelerio's bat into the mix at third. Good to know. Didn't know Happ had that much experience in the OF. Did the Cubbies move him to 2B because he sucked in OF? Bad arm? Perceived need at the time? Like I said, I am all about adding another 3B prospect to the mix, especially as the 3rd or 4th piece of a Q deal, but I like our chances of finding a future 3B out of Saladino, Trey M., Davidson and Delmonico. Mainly Saladino. I just think that dude can play, and I haven't given up on Trey. Davidson and Delmonico are long shots to stick at 3B.
  6. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 12, 2017 -> 08:45 AM) I always just use commas and periods everywhere. Even in text messages. I don't like to appear uneducated. This. However, Steveno, I in no way, shape or form have a problem with your lack of periods. I was honestly just curious. Seems like you go out of your way to leave them out, so was just curious. Carry on.
  7. Love Renterias managing. Aggressive and not afraid to use his bench. Refreshing.
  8. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Apr 11, 2017 -> 04:24 PM) I'd be happy with Jimenez, Happ and Candelerio. Candelerio is ready and Happ could be a September call up, or sooner. Both switch hitters too. As Hawk would say, where's he gonna play? I know Jimenez is the main piece and an OF, but Happ and Candelerio are both 2B and 3B, and the infield is pretty covered. I suppose we could use another 3B prospects, but we really need OF. I am far from a Cub follower, so alot of you guys probably know the Cubs guys better than I, but isn't Happ supposed to be a butcher at 2B?
  9. steveno, always wanted to ask you - what do you have against periods?
  10. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Apr 11, 2017 -> 04:12 PM) Man gonna be a long day with this ump Or a short day
  11. WSD, come around more often. Thanks for the podcast this am. Really enjoyed listening to it. Cheers!
  12. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 10, 2017 -> 01:14 PM) I will be shocked if MLB truly cares. The owners wanted price certainty. The MLB wants best players in game to play there. There won't be many more situations like Otani. They'll say not in spirit of rules and maybe change it in next CBA. Hahn said in his interview with WSD that if someone skirts the CBA rules to sign Otani and then extend him before his arb years that the league would come down very hard.
  13. Fantastic interview. Thanks WSD.
  14. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 10, 2017 -> 05:59 PM) Check Cody Asche's minor league numbers vs. Nicky Delmonico. Delmonico needs more time at AAA. What ever happened to rushing prospects is a bad thing? Hence why I said he'll get his turn, but it's gonna be a month or two minimum.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 10, 2017 -> 05:32 PM) Who? Tell me who. Who is this miracle player we have that has the ability to step in and be better than Asche? The easiest way to put this is that Asche has done more at the major league level, than the rest of our minor leaguers have done at the minor league level. The bolded is the answer to your own question. The Sox organization knows that the guys they have either can't play, or they don't want to start their clocks in order to save another year of service. They aren't going to give chances to guys who can't even play at the minor league level, let alone at the major league level. The fact that these posts are being made with glittering generalities, and not real names tells me that there is literally no one who fits the description of what you are asking for. Delmonico and Hayes would be the guys, but they'll get their turn. I'm in no hurry to discard Asche, but he will need to produce a bit or they'll just cut bait in a few weeks.
  16. QUOTE (Tony @ Apr 10, 2017 -> 05:37 PM) That's not even kinda true. For this team to be in contention for the #1 pick, that likely means winning 50 some games. It's hard to believe that any of the assets we'd be looking to trade outside of Quintana, and perhaps Jones and Robertson would have any value in that scenario. Getting meaningful assets for Frazier, Melky and onwards down the roster is going to be very important to progress this rebuild in any significant manner.
  17. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Apr 10, 2017 -> 02:10 PM) How many more years of team control does Asche have? 3 more years. 2020 FA.
  18. I forgot Ashe is only 26. I thought he was closer to 30, he looks 35ish.
  19. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 10, 2017 -> 12:50 PM) Given the general goal of the season, he doesn't bother me much. And if he keeps on sucking, I don't think he will be around long enough to bother me Same. Delmonico or Hayes will be up if he doesn't start hitting a bit, though.
  20. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 10, 2017 -> 11:55 AM) That's where you're wrong. Maybe not quite the return, but it will be in the same ballpark. Q is 90% of sale and is signed for another year. Their overall surplus value is similar. Agreed.
  21. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 10, 2017 -> 11:31 AM) And you've said this 8 million times in a bunch of different threads. I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with your opinion but this is a thread for people who want the higher draft pick, they're allowed to have that opinion just like you're allowed to have yours. Of course they're allowed to have that opinion. That doesn't make it any more logical, or mean those who disagree with it can't say otherwise. This is a message board, no? By virtue of the lineup the Sox are trotting out there every day, they're going to lose a bunch of games. I think we all agree with that. It's going to get more ugly when the guys I mentioned hopefully get moved for something valuable. But we're going to need them to produce for that to happen. End of story.
  22. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 10, 2017 -> 10:11 AM) The people who are in on the "campaign" have mentioned the fact it's more of the idea of getting a high pick than actually getting Seth Beer. I'm not sure why the people who don't want to tank have to come in here and s*** all over the idea. You're obviously entitled to your opinion but so are the people who want to lose to get a higher pick. I think it pretty obvious that the Sox are going to get a high pick. However, there is much more value in the players that can be acquired for Quintana, Jones, Robertson, Frazier, Melky, Jennings, Gonzalez, Holland, Putnam, someone taking Shields contract, than there is is wanting all those players to contribute to a 60 win team. The players that can be acquired on a whole for the current veterans far outweighs the difference between the 3rd pick and the 7th pick, IMO. We need those aforementioned players to have a good first few months. Frazier pulling his head out of his rear would be a good start.
  23. This whole thread is comical. The Sox could literally go .500 this year and perhaps get Seth Beer in the 2018 draft.
  24. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 10, 2017 -> 09:37 AM) Could happen. I wouldn't be making the same bet with other people if I were you though. You need to go study up on draft history and how teams think before making blanket statements. If Seth Beer were named Eric Martin, there wouldn't be Sox fans wanting to tank for him. There's a chance that the Sox get a better player at #11 this year than Beer will even end up being but nobody is talking about the 2017 draft due to a catchy hashtag. Preach brother!
