White Sox Trade
All these calls from Sox fans to DFA or trade Eloy are so funny to me. Yes, he gets hurt alot. But that's the same reason he has minimal trade value. You could maybeeeeee get a back-end top 100 prospect type for him in July if he hasn't missed a bunch more time and is within spitting distance of his career line of .273/.325/.496. I do think his contract still has value ($27M guaranteed in 23, 24 and 25 buyout), and those 25 and 26 options are pretty fair at $16.5M and $18.5M, but the same reason some cohort of Sox fans want to dump Eloy is the same reason he won't bring you a big return. He's the one guy on this team that can realistically hit .300 and pop 40+ homers. There is no good reason to trade him, especially when you have decent in-house DH options in Burger and Sheets to fill in when he does get hurt. Now if Eloy stays healthy and rakes the next 2.5 months and the Sox still find themselves 10 GB, sure, by all means field offers and try to sell high. But selling low certainly isn't the answer to what ails the Sox.

White Sox Trade
This roster cannot stay healthy. Why are we trying to trade the spare parts? While you theoretically can make trades in April/May, you'll be getting pennies on the dollar value wise. What good does that do for the Sox? Also, Moncada is due $29M next season including his $5M buyout on 2025 team option. He is on the Sox for 2 more seasons; just have to hope he stays healthy and plays well. Me thinks Moncada is going to want another payday, which is going to require him to stay on the field and be productive the next 18 months. Pedro has already said a few times Moncada isn't coming back until 100%. When he does comes back, 3B is going to be his against RHP. Which means one of AV or Eloy has to sit to get Burger in the lineup. That shouldn't happened regularly, but also requires Eloy to stay healthy which is always a question mark. Jake can get some 3B starts against LHP, pinch hit later in games, etc. Its a nice problem to have.

Get the first one, and I feel decent about the 2nd with the lefty in Falter going in the nightcap. Things looks a whole lot brighter with a DH sweep today. Alternatively, things look a whole lot more bleak with a bad showing today. About as big of a day as you can find in April, honestly. Hope the boys come to play. Curious who the 26th man will be - options on the 40 man include Martin, Scholtens, German, Alexy and Padilla. Martin threw 6 innings on Friday, so would be on short rest but is probably the favorite to get the call to give some length. Sholtens threw 6 innings Sat, so is probably out. Both German and Padilla threw an inning on Sunday so should be available but cannot give length. Alexy has 10 walks in 2 1/3 innings so probably isn't an option, though he'd fit right in!

No, he's not. But he's made plenty of mistakes.

STOP F-ING WALKING GUYS
Its at least worth noting that $24M of that is on the IL. Obviously Kelly has been mostly a trainwreck on the Sox, but he is legitimate MLB reliever. Liam's cancer was a totally out of the blue terrible occurrence that no one could have projected. Add Liam, Crochet and Kelly to the pen it goes from very bad to above average pretty quickly. Hopefully we get to see that in May along with Bummer, ReyLo and Graveman throwing the ball better than they have to date.

Since the catch all got deleted, also looks like Sox signed Lucas Farrell to milb deal today per their transactions page. Has 69 career MLB appearances with Rangers, Cubs, Reds, Twins and Royals over the last half decade. Has appeared in MLB every season since 2017. MLB deal is interesting - assume that means Sox need to carry him on 40 man, right? Doesn't look like he has pitched in a couple years after defecting.

The Pedro Hire
I have been far from impressed with Pedro so far, but what is the guy supposed to do when his pen has been this bad? We're missing arguably 3 of our best 5 relievers. The pen is only 8 deep and currently includes Jake Diekman, Tanner Banks, Keynan Middleton, Gregory Santos and Jimmy Lambert as 65% of it. The only proven big league arms in the pen are Bummer, Graveman and ReyLo, and they haven't exactly been good either. Its a really tough spot. The pen is so much better once you add in Hendriks, Crochet and Kelly. Jimmy Lambert and one of those other guys should be options 7 and 8 in the pen, not 4 and 5. Its real a problem that the best manager in the game couldn't solve. And Bummer just needs to be so much better.
