Bring up Davidson to start the year at the hot corner, and move Connor to left.
-
I agree with you but the team desperately needs a left handed bat (Martinez is a switch hitter) in the middle of the order between Abreu and Garcia. I woukd sign Martinez but it has to be to a reasonable, short term contract.

A thread about the off season ahead the upcoming 2015 season. We already have a report that Victor Martinez is the team's top target, and the team must rebuild the bullpen. So what do you want accomplished this off season?

Who dose the Sox core consist of? Because I cant define them, and when you cant define your core then you dont have one.

QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Aug 28, 2014 -> 09:50 AM) I think DJ Stewart lines up well for the Sox. ACC player of the year, .472 OBP .557 SLG and walked more than he struck out (40:30). Could really shore up LF for the Sox and solidify the young core in the OF. If not Stewart, I think one of the Vandy RHP's Bueler or Fulmer will be in play to try and sync with the rest of the core. The Sox will then do something similar in the second round getting a HS guy that slipped and backloading the system as well. The farm system is still a work in progress and while there has been massive improvements, since they lack a lot of high end prospecs (With the exception of Rodon, amd maybe Anderson) and quality depth in the system. I dont think or believe that DJ Stewart sloves that problem, because he is more of a finished product and lacks that high ceiling that the Sox desperately need in their system.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 28, 2014 -> 08:41 AM) Disagree. I think Rick Hahn and his staff will identify the best player and take that player regardless of how long it may take to get to the majors. They took Courtney Hawkins and Keon Barnum with back to back picks 3 years ago. 2 years ago they took Tim Anderson out of JuCo and their 2nd rder was HS RHP Tyler Danish. This year they took a HS RHP with their 2nd pick in Spencer Adams. If a HS player is the highest rated player on the board in round 1, I think they will take the high schooler. Exactly, you always take the best player available

QUOTE (LDF @ Aug 27, 2014 -> 03:20 AM) if you are saying that these prospects will be available for the sox to pick, est at their time. I will say forget any hs'er, I still like the 2 of'er I mention the other day, and several other pitchers. I am a little confuse on Alken and Bickford. again, many thanks for you hard work/ Yes, these guys should available in the top ten. And I prefer HS talent to college players any day of the week, especially when it comes to position players. I so however feel comfortable drafting college pitching however.

I would rather have Bickford than Aiken, call me crazy but I really do like him a lot. My Top Targets For The Sox (Assuming They Get A Top 10 Pick) Daz Cameron Kyle Tucker Ryan Mountcastle Justin Hooper Phil Bickford Brady Aiken

http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/08/phil...2015-draft.html Phil Bickford is going to enter the 2015 draft. The dude is a monster, and he is who I wanted the Sox to draft in 2013. Bickford is a lock for being a top 10 again.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 26, 2014 -> 10:48 AM) For these discussions. My final guesses on who goes: Bassitt (2nd time) Montas Narvaez Anderson Lopez Ravelo Not sure about Lopez though. Could also see a reliever from AA or AAA going, not sure which one. Itll be good for Courtney Hawkins -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 25, 2014 -> 10:23 PM) The odds of a current major leage contributing are so much incredibly higher than any draft pick, it isn't even funny. We benefit WAY more by the guys that are here learning the lessons they need, than we do picking five picks higher. I want the highest draft pick possible, this year was never about wins or losses but the development of its young players and looking at the seasom I would call it a success. To me they're still rebuilding and wont be competitive till 2016 at the earliest and while there have been great strides made in the scouting and player development department since Hahn took over from Kenny, (With the hiring of Marco Paddy, the past three draft classes (Hawkins, Anderson, amd Rodon)) the farm system is not as deep as we think it is and in my opinion and it still could desperately use another top 5 pick/INTL bonus pool to really cement the overall long term health of the franchise. Im not saying your guaranteed to draft a great player when you have a high pick (Gordon Beckham, Josh Fields, Joe Borchard, Bryan Anderson), but when you have a higher pick you have more money to spend in the draft and the INTL market, so your chances of getting a great player in your farm system is greater. -
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 25, 2014 -> 01:39 AM) How do you get into scouting? I know about filing scouting reports and how to grade players, but I read a variety of interviews and articles, for more info. But your best bet is calling the teams and seeing if they have positions open
-
QUOTE (LDF @ Aug 24, 2014 -> 09:39 PM) even tho I really dislike the them, I will wish you nothing but the best I called the Sox a million times, and they said they don't offer internships in the scouting department.
-
QUOTE (LDF @ Aug 24, 2014 -> 08:31 PM) Joshua, its ok, we will have a long offseason to enjoy what you write. for me, I appreciate what you do. Thanks, and I might have a interview coming up with the Cubs for a intern/scouting position
-
Next reports, Ryan Mountcastle, Brendan Rodgers, and Wyatt Cross.

QUOTE (scs787 @ Aug 23, 2014 -> 11:09 PM) Not positive on this, but I believe those guys have to pitch in Japan for 7 years before they come to the US. Otani can enter the draft, I think

One name guys, Shoei Otani

QUOTE (BaconOnAStick @ Aug 9, 2014 -> 06:02 AM) Frankly, this idea doesn't turn me on as much as it did last year. I think it is far more important that the guys play well and this team wins a few more games than it would just tanking. I'm petrified of getting stuck in a cycle of badness, and if 2015 is a lost season (as some are already saying) what then? Tank the 15 season also? Last year was the worst I think I've seen this team play, it was different then than it is now. To me this is a group on the cusp of contending, and unless we lose every game from here on out were not getting Carlos Rodon II dropped in our laps a second time around. How dose winning a few more games benefit the long term health of the franchise? Give me a top a top ten pick -
Big July 2 free agent changes on the way

I disagree with the idea of an international draft. And every team has an academy in Latin America -
I don't think the middle infielders of the future are in the organization. I am not big on Johnson and I think Sanchez is nothing more than an utility player, and I am split on Tim Anderson because he could play CF or 2B.

I would love to see the penalties be harsher for teams that chose to spend way over their bonus pools like the Yankees did, something like a team wont be able to sign a INTL amateur free agent for 2 or 3 years, -

Bravo, I guess. -
I think that next year the team finishes .500 or around .500. I think that Hahn is going to make some more moves to improve the team like last offseason. He has to bolster the bullpen up, improve the catching position and get a left handed bat in the middle of the line up. I would also like to see 2 RHP in the starting rotation but that is a want, not a need.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Aug 15, 2014 -> 09:10 AM) Cool previews, thanks friend! More are on the way.
