Sox Draft Carlos Rodon> Draft Day Discussion Thread
Boopa1219 replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in FutureSox Board
NOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo In all seriousness let's hope the team can sign Rodon at something reasonable and I wish him the best in his career and the he can reach the majors quickly. -
Where was Jackson compared to Konerko?
-
If I am Rick Hahn and both Kolek and Aiken are off the board, I would draft Alex Jackson over Carlos Rodon.
-
sox need to trade alexei once out of contention

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ May 28, 2014 -> 05:36 PM) Yankees could eat the rest of Dunn's salary in a deal as well. Adding him could make a lot of sense for both clubs as the Yankees could use Dunn as well. In any deal that the Sox make with the Yankees, I want Gary Sanchez back. -
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ May 26, 2014 -> 04:19 PM) I'd gladly take Nunez and Ynoa. I would too, although I am only familiar with Ynoa. With that being said, I am highly anticipating this year's DSL team, with Luis Castillo finally along with other prospects like Cruz, Otano, Feliz and newer guys like Beltre, Feliz, and Reyes. Plus Micker Adolfo is making his debut with the new AZL team this summer. Although I would love for Rick Hahn and the Sox bring in more scouts from other teams in order to improve the team from a scouting and player development standpoint, they have quickly put together one of the best international scouting departments in all of baseball in my opinion.

1. Kolek 2. Aiken 3. Jackson 4. Rodon

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ May 16, 2014 -> 11:19 PM) Kolek could probably close games for us down the stretch Kolek is a starting pitcher, if he aj closing games for the Sox then they failed at developing him properly.

My dream draft goes Round 1: Tyler Kolek - RHP Round 2-5: Jackson Reetz - C Forrest Wall - 2B/OF Spencer Adams - RHP Rounds 6-10: Kel Johnson - OF/1B I wouldn't be mad if the Sox went overslot to draft Gatewood in Round Two, another guy who could fall is Monte Harrison because he is a two sport athlete and holds a football scholarship to play at the Nebraska so any team will have to go overlot to sign him.

You're Rick Hahn and Aiken and Kolek are off the board, who do you take at pick #3?
-
If we traded for a stud RH starter this year who would it be?

Kevin Gausman -
Will Sox be buyers, not sellers, at the trade deadline?
Boopa1219 replied to VAfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think the team is going to be sellers at the deadline, I don't have faith in the way the bullpen has been performing and in the depth of the starting rotation. -
Rosenthal speculates on deadline deal candidates
Boopa1219 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If I were Rick Hahn I would definitely be shopping around Alexi to contending teams that are in need of a bat, Seimen has showed how expendable he is this year with the way that he has played. And I would be shopping around Danks to contending teams as we get closer to the deadline, but I would only trade him if I got a good package of prospects back. -
I hope the Sox stay away from Hoffman, Beede, Nola, and the other college pitchers. Outside of Rondon I don't any projection from them. I hope they draft either Aiken, Jackson or Kolek because all three players have high ceilings and can be difference makers at the highest level. This year's crop of college pitchers just screams average to me and you don't draft average in the first round. Hopefully Reetz will be there in the second round, I have a feeling that Gatewood will be there and I think that the Sox will be able to lock him up.

QUOTE (staxx @ Apr 8, 2014 -> 11:06 AM) They compared hawkins to kemp on draft day. These are extremely loose projections that you can't base a decision on Comps are made so you can get an idea of what kind of player could a prospect poetentially develop into. Wil Myers is another that has been thrown around I read someone say that Jackson should play third, if that's the case then why did the team trade for Davidson, if the White Sox draft Jackson they need to put him in RF and just let him focus on his bat which is elite.

QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Apr 8, 2014 -> 12:15 AM) Please link to anywhere where someone of note has made this comparison. http://macksmets.blogspot.com/2014/03/a-qu...rancho.html?m=1 I'm too lazy to find more, but they compare their bat speed to one another and their catcher/outfield profile.

QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Apr 7, 2014 -> 07:49 PM) The problem isn't his willingness to catch, it's that you don't hold back a bat like that by making him catch. Comp is closer to Wil Myers than Inge. Bryce Harper is another comp that is being thrown around a lot for Jackson.

I am hoping that the Sox are able to lock up Reetz and Gatewood after the first round. Here is an update on Tyler Kolek Tyler Kolek, RHP, Shepherd HS (TX) Not sure what else there is to say about Kolek at this point. He can’t rise much higher, and this might be the last time he makes the list because of that. It is, however, fun to write about how dominant he is and how abusive he is to his fellow peers. In his last start, he finished with 14 K/0 BB over five innings, allowing a hit. His last pitch registered 98 mph on the radar gun of Kendall Rogers over at Perfect Game. For the season, he now has 62 K/1 BB over 27.1 shutout innings, allowing three hits. The 6’-5”, 240 pound right-hander has entered the talks for 1.1 even though a prep right-hander has never gone first overall, showing just how special a talent he is. Committed to TCU — or the Astros. Read more at http://throughthefencebaseball.com/2014-ml...2ETAt7rjbsTs.99

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 7, 2014 -> 01:15 PM) Everyone needs pitching. They aren't good at developing hitters. What better time to start developing you own position players than now?
-
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 7, 2014 -> 08:01 AM) I understand the philosophy but I think the Sox should do what they do. Draft the best pitcher. Then draft more pitching. If you can load up on arms you can always trade for already developed position players from other organizations. I think that is a horrible mindset, and if you're a GM with that mindset you're never going to set your team up for long term success.
-
I think Jackson is the best position player in the draft, I think if the Sox were to draft him that we would be willing to sign under slot a al Carlos Correa so the White Sox would be able to sign better players later in the draft. If I were Rick Hahn, Alex Jackson would be the pick at #3 because the ceiling is so high and there is just too much poetential with the bat. Aiken and Kolek wouldn't look bad at #3 either.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Apr 3, 2014 -> 09:50 AM) All I have seen is one or two tweets saying the Sox were at an event of his. Is there more than that? Yeah on scout.com
-
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 3, 2014 -> 08:11 AM) I would imagine that the Cubs and Rangers will be trading some of their slot $$. I imagine so too, in order to avoid the penalties. Plus info regarding the top players should be coming out soon, the White Sox have been linked to Huascar Ynoa, who is widely considered to be the best pitching prospect available in this year's crop. And it is widely believed that the Milwaukee Brewers have reached an agreement with Gilbert Lara for $3.4 million (Which is over their spending allotment), while other teams are still in pursuit for his services. It is also rumored that the Yankees already have 6 deals in place.

Here are the international bonus pools and slot values: http://www.baseballamerica.com/internation...nd-slot-values/ The Sox have a total of $4,622,400.
